"Grogan’s Castle Lounge is a pub where both people and conversation have the room to spread out. A much-celebrated place to sink a few jars, it also acts as an unofficial second home to anyone and everyone. Come evening this carpeted sanctuary in the middle of Temple Bar is full of characters, from old boys in tweed jackets with worn Irish literature anthologies, to young Trinity College kids sharing a gooey ham and cheese toastie. For a time-warp venue that feels like it hasn’t changed since the 1970s, it feels welcoming to everyone. The last time we were there we watched two dogs and their elderly owners meet and share a cup of tea and biscuits at past 11pm. photo credit: Dena Shearer" - Jake Missing
