"“Homemade” might sound out of place next to a buttoned-up noun like “company,” but the name tells you exactly what this counter-service spot in Fulton Market is all about. Homemade Italian Company essentially functions like a stall that should be in Time Out Market, though with a lot less chaos and significantly fewer tourists. And they make good pasta from scratch. Walking up, you’ll see someone in the front window shaping fresh dough soon to be turned into pasta. Everything is served in bowls you’d find in a friend’s cabinet. There’s even a cushy velvet loveseat begging you to plop down while you read the menu like it’s The New York Times. But remember: this is a Company, and not your mom’s living room. So you'll get to choose between seven sauces and ten pasta shapes, like tagliatelle or casarecce. It's hard to come up with a bad combination, though we especially like the gnocchi with pesto and the specialty lasagna. (And for the pasta-averse among us, you can always order a caprese salad, cassone, or a meatball platter.)
