"Chez Eugène is in Montmartre’s most touristy real estate, overlooking Place du Tertre, where street artists sketch quick caricatures of passersby. We brave it for the bistro's impressive wine list and to sit on the covered outdoor terrace to watch Montmartre be Montmartre (their dining room is a bit dreary). Since their more innovative dishes are a bit uneven, like a bizarre play on vitello tonnato or vegan risotto sans rice, hone in on their tried and true classics, like French onion soup, egg-mayo twisted with a grape must mustard, and behemoth steak frites. And if you’re not ordering wine, you’re in the wrong place. The list leans natural, hews heavily to the northern Rhône, and changes weekly to introduce gems at all price points." - Emily Monaco
