Little Brazil - Review - North Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Little Brazil really is a little piece of Brazil in North Beach. The restaurant is filled with references to iconic Brazilian landmarks—Rio De Janeiro’s wavy mosaic sidewalks, São Paulo’s famous art museum, and a mini disco ball with no particular ties to Brazil (but it’s cute and we love it). Come here with your friends who have tanks for stomachs (portions meant for one tend to feed three). The menu has lots of beefy stews, rice, and grilled meats. Start with the highly addictive tapioca squares with sweet chili sauce, pastel filled with garlicky shrimp, and pão de queijo. Anything with the word “estrogonofe” will involve a creamy, tangy sauce that reminds us of the great pleasure that is mixing ketchup and mayo. It doesn’t matter if you order too much because the food is just as good the next day. Settle on who gets the leftover moqueca with a game of rock-paper-scissors. Food Rundown Coxinha It’s basically an entire meal conveniently packed into fried mashed potatoes shaped like giant Hershey’s kisses. It tastes like a glorious cross between a chicken croqueta and a crab rangoon. Delightfully simple, and you’ll mindlessly vacuum them like a movie theater snack. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Moqueca If you’re ordering for the table, know that the moqueca for one is actually big enough for two. Every sea creature in this stew absorbs the sweet coconut broth. Although filling, it’s still relatively light for a stew. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Feijoada It’s a solid feijoada, though the beans could use a bit more salt. The thick chunks of chorizo make up for the bland beans, though. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Estrogonofe Chicken You could put a shoe inside this tangy sauce and we’d still enjoy it. Even if there’s no chicken left, take the leftover sauce home to drizzle on rice, tostones, and more chicken. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino" - Mariana Trabanino
