"KC Paris in the Fillmore displays their pastries like clothes in a well-organized closet. One side of the case is for your everyday staples: croissants, danishes, and other things found at pretty much every French bakery. The other is for statement pieces—ornate meringue discs with gelée-filled raspberries and multi-tiered macarons. Feel confident ordering from either side. Almost everything we've tried is fantastic, save for a bland and slightly gummy beurre croissant. Just plan to take your order to go as there’s no seating. (A plaza with benches and tables is just a few blocks away on O’Farrell.) And try to avoid Sundays, when the pastry selection is smaller. video credit: Patrick Wong video credit: Patrick Wong Pause Unmute Food Rundown Pistachio Finger The chef-owner says she loves pistachios, and we buy it, based on nothing else but this crunchy-soft finger. Get anything involving the nut. photo credit: Patrick Wong Coconut-Chocolate Succès Inspired by the Bounty candy bar, this orb of velvety coconut and chocolate cream is encased by nuts and more chocolate. It all rests on a crisp meringue disc. This is a requirement on any visit. photo credit: Patrick Wong Apple Tart Solid. The pastry shell has a shortbread-like texture while the sliced apples inside are tender and just barely sweet. photo credit: Patrick Wong Almond-Chocolate Croissant Our favorite croissant here. Custardy on the inside with a crunchy frangipane hair-do on top. If you’re only getting one croissant, make sure it’s this one. photo credit: Patrick Wong Ham And Cheese Croissant Slick with a creamy cheese that shows up in every bite alongside a thin slice of ham. It’s the best savory option at KC Paris. photo credit: Patrick Wong Beurre Croissant The rare miss at this bakery. It lacks any flakiness and the inside is stodgy. Skip this, you’ll find much better versions in the city. photo credit: Patrick Wong" - Patrick Wong
