"A lot of the cakes on this list pop up on counters from time to time with no warning. But you can rely on Brunswick East. The Dalston cafe has committed to their Guinness cake and serves it whenever they’re open. It’s a solid, straightforward slice that does the basics—chocolate, malty sponge, cream cheese buttercream—well. This is our dependable go-to whenever we’re in the area or don’t want to do some internet sleuthing to find a slice. We’ve had our heart broken before, but never by this Guinness cake. " - sinead cranna
