Days Pizza - Review - South Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"After a couple of years as a Los Angeles pop-up, Days Pizza has found a full-time home at Thicket Food Park in South Austin. This small trailer, open Thursday through Sunday, typically has five or six 14-inch pies to choose from. There’s a standard pepperoni, of course, but you can do even better with the delicious Heaterz, which adds pickled chilis, chili crisp, and wildflower honey. The toppings are generous, and the charred-but-not-burnt quality of the New York-style crust is pleasing. Things can get backed up here, so we recommend ordering online beforehand or allowing time to soak in the scenery at one of Thicket’s many picnic tables. You never know what you’ll get—could be live jazz, a miniature food festival, or something called a “baby rave.” Food Rundown Caesar Salad A hint of lemon gives this a refreshing zest. Days swaps traditional croutons for sourdough breadcrumbs that can get soggy with the dressing, but that’s only a mild deterrent. photo credit: MATTHEW JACOBS Pepperoni Can’t go wrong with the classic. Days’ pepperoni is crispy, and the sauce is sweet and tangy but not overpowering. Days has topped it with fennel sausage or roasted hatch chiles, but we’ve eaten it with wild mushrooms.
