"The Burmese restaurants have a range in SF. Go to Burma Love with big groups, Pagan when you want to roll up in sweats, or Yamo for a sub-$15 meal. Teakwood is the swankiest of the Burmese restaurant pool. The Hayes Valley spot (from the Burma Superstar and Burma Love people) has gorgeous floor-to-ceiling murals, glitzy circular lamps hovering overhead like UFOs, and a full bar that practically sparkles. While the Burmese staples, like the rainbow salad and mohinga aren’t the most memorable versions in SF, they’re still solid. Go for the sweet-spicy ginger chili pork belly or the platha with dip and you’ll have a good time. Since this spot is near a lot of downtown theaters like Davies Symphony Hall and The Orpheum, it’s the spot for pre-show meals, or to take a load off after buying monogrammed suitcases on Hayes Street." - Julia Chen
