"This Thai spot in Fremont has great cocktails, EDM music, interior details that look like a funhouse designer got together with a nightclub owner, and a replica ferris wheel that carries shots and gets sent to your table with a sparkler upon ordering. It sounds like a perfect Saturday night—only it’s absolutely dead in here on the weekends. If the food were exciting, that’d be enough to jettison ourselves through the door with a bunch of friends since it’s so easy to get in. But the fried rice is underseasoned, the curries lack depth, and the pad see ew is way too light. If you got roped into a trip by a friend who saw Sabbverr on TikTok, the khao soi is a decent bet. Otherwise, head up the street to Kin Len Thai Night Bites, which has a livelier party atmosphere and better stuff to eat." - Aimee Rizzo
