A stop at the visitor center offers a good introduction to the geology and history of the mountains, and an eight-mile scenic drive provides opportunity for the visitors to see this unique ecosystem. Along the road, viewpoints and trailheads have scenic views and hikes showcasing beautiful vistas that change around each bend. But the natural environment is not the only draw of the area.
