"The beach where the Full Moon Party is held, Haat Rin is the place to stay if you want to be close to the action; come four to five days early to secure cheap and decent rooms because availability and prices skyrocket the closer you get to the party (last-minute rooms are often double or worse, and New Year’s can triple prices and add mandatory expensive dinners). I don’t recommend arriving the day of or the night before — rooms are scarce and people wandering the streets looking for a place are a common sight.
