"I stopped first at the famous bear sanctuary near the falls, which rescues Asiatic black bears (moon bears) whose bile is exploited in traditional medicine; the sanctuary houses 23 bears that are now allowed to roam and enjoy life outside cages. Watching them climb trees, play, and drink made everyone go “awwww” and left me wanting a bear — they were unbelievably cute and furry, and seeing rescued animals thriving added a meaningful, uplifting start to the visit." - Matthew Kepnes
