"The Hyatt Regency in Dubai is probably one of the first luxury, five-star hotels to open in the UAE. The Hyatt Regency opened its doors in the beginning of the early Eighties and was extremely unique for it's time. Besides hotel rooms and apartments, the property also includes an ice rink (which on some days still plays pop songs from the Eighties!) gym and spa, and a variety of restaurants and cuisines. There is also the famous revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel, called Al Dawaar, which has an amazing view of the district of Deira, as well as Dubai's contemporary skyline. If you're lucky enough, you might spot an elaborate wedding taking place in one of it's convention halls, which is still a popular venue for the city's royal and other Emirati families." - Khalid Mezaina
