"Lutheran Church of Saints Peter and Paul(Petrikirche) with moderate architecture keeps the memory of the hard history of the German community in St. Petersburg: in the Soviet times there was a swimming pool right here. The bowl still exists beneath the floor of the main hall. The austere benches for parishioners are located around its centre. Under this bowl there is another layer of pain: the catacombs where women and children hid during the war.
