Set within two creaky, atmospheric Georgian town houses, this time-capsule collection includes an 1830’s rocking horse, Red Indian and Eskimo toys, magic lanterns, tanks and trains, Chinese pantomime dragons, a neighbourhood of dolls houses and paper theatres from all over the world. The museum is small and values its independence. It’s not trying to compete with the big institutions like the British Museum down the road. It’s a different, offbeat kind of place appealing to a different kind of sensibility."
