"El Mercado San Camilito abrió como el mercado de comida y restaurantes para el resto de La Lagunilla. Situado al norte de la Plaza Garibaldi, se ha convertido en uno de los únicos mercados abiertos las 24 horas del día en la ciudad. El mercado se extiende por toda una cuadra (larga) hasta la calle República de Ecuador. El mercado está repleto de restaurantes únicos, cada uno con una cocina o especialidad en particular. El mercado abrió durante la gran reorganización de los mercados de La Lagunilla en 1957, el año en que abrieron los cuatro nuevos mercados principales del arquitecto Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, y por los cuales el barrio es conocido hoy en día."
