"A vast tract of coastal and inland rainforest covering roughly 171,250 hectares that forms one of the Cardamoms’ most biologically rich zones, historically home to many endangered mammals. Large portions were leased as 99-year concessions and threatened by clear-cutting and development, prompting conservation action that secured an 18,000-hectare parcel as fully protected land and established ranger stations to stem logging and hunting; the park remains a critical but fragile biodiversity stronghold." - Julia Wallace
