Review: Fauchon L’Hôtel, Paris - SilverKris

"Housed steps from the original Madeleine delicatessen, this recently opened luxury hotel translates a famed gourmet legacy into a flamboyant five-star stay: 54 spacious rooms feature vibrant furnishings, content tablets and marble bathrooms, while staff arrange bespoke experiences from private gallery visits to river cruises. The property is extremely dog-friendly — guests are greeted with a welcome mocktail while their pets receive a jewel-encrusted water bowl, a matching plush dog bed and toys — and many nearby shops and parks make it easy to explore with a pet. Visually arresting interiors by architect Richard Martin reject minimalist trends in favor of hot pink, black and gold accents, eclectic Art Deco and Art Nouveau pieces, and tempting displays of pastel macarons under glass domes. Dining centers on the Grand Café, where classic French gastronomy is given a modern small-plates treatment (dogs are welcome), and every room boasts a decadent pink-gold “Gourmet Bar” armoire stocked with complimentary Fauchon treats — chocolate truffles, buttery brioche biscuits, jars of foie gras — and the hotel’s signature champagne, making the in-room larder a standout indulgence." - Simon Kurs
