"Tucked on the shores of Lake Huron in Sauble Beach, the June Motel felt like a celebrity midcentury outpost — a refurbished, 1970s-meets-Instagram spot that Netflix documented in Motel Makeover. The A-framed lobby’s bright white walls and warm wood ceiling enclosed a blush-toned coffee bar and shop, a sitting area with a longboard and rounded leather couch, and an employee even poured us coups of rosé when we checked in. One evening an owner and friends invited us to a fire beside the gated pool — there was wine, tea, bundled s’mores supplies and blankets — and our room opened via a sliding glass door onto the pool, its walls lit by a neon pink “good vibes only” sign. In the mornings an oatmeal-and-fruit breakfast was waiting at our door, and the property offered more rounds of s’mores, a hammock, and lounge chairs by the pool that made the slow pace exactly what we needed." - Kelly Dawson
