"I came to Botswana’s newest camp, Khwai Lediba, hoping to see the big five but found a safari company committed to breaking down barriers for women guides. The camp — one of 17 operated by African Bush Camps, founded and run by Beks Ndlovu — delivered incredible sightings under the instruction of Sharon Mohlambi, a guide in training: a pair of lions chasing a herd of kudu, hippos sunning themselves, and dozens of elephants enjoying a mud bath. Mohlambi’s warm grin, driving and tracking skills (she correctly identified old wild dog tracks, their direction, and signs of fresher yellow-billed hornbill activity), and obvious passion for the bush made our experience both educational and moving, while senior guide Dutch provided supportive mentorship as she tested her knowledge and let her take the lead on drives." - Sandra MacGregor
