"A latter-day answer to the Cultural Foundation is 421, a 12,000-square-foot converted warehouse near the docks run by Faisal Al Hassan to give young artists their first break; Hashel Al Lamki was one of its beneficiaries. When I visited, the main exhibit was Ammar Al Attar’s “Out of Range,” a series of videos and photographs that captured the boredom and stagnation of lockdowns (including a piece in which he draws the same circle until the charcoal runs out or he collapses, and another where he repeatedly stamps the same paper), and the space stages interactive programs and rotating shows (recently an exhibit on foraging and food)." - John Arlidge
