How a New Wave of Roasters Is Revitalizing Melbourne’s Iconic Coffee Scene

"A bijou corner café opened in 2011 in a former lawyer’s chambers, notable for its cool but unpretentious interior (framed newspapers, a walnut counter and staff in leather butcher’s aprons) and its focus on traceable, small-batch coffee: the team roasts in-house and works with niche importers. The co-owner served a rich, nutty filter coffee made from beans from a small Ecuadorian farm; the café is also known for an exceptionally good iced coffee presented cocktail-style with a single giant ice cube and for using distinctive cream-coloured cups made by ceramist Malcolm Greenwood." - Nina Caplan Nina Caplan Nina Caplan has been writing about the arts, wine, and travel for over 20 years. Her wine and lifestyle columns appear regularly in Club Oenologique, The New Statesman, and The London Times's luxury magazine, Luxx.
