"First American public property acquired outside the United States, this historic Legation in the heart of Tangier’s ancient medina marked Charles Sevigny’s centennial with an appropriately stylish exhibition designed by artist Lawrence Mynott and curated with Thomas Gunther, who also wrote the accompanying catalogue, on view through September 8th. Gifted to the United States by Sultan Moulay Sulemin in 1821 and home to the legation and consulate for 140 years, it is now a delightful showcase for portraits, works of art, and iconography tied to the city’s history and to prominent American residents such as Paul Bowles and Marguerite McBey." - Hamish Bowles
