"What To Get: Chicago-style dog, polish sausage, fried shrimp (yes, seriously). What To Know: 35th Street is a block away from Guaranteed Rate Field, so it's perfect to hit up before or after a Sox game. There are picnic tables out front and it's cash only." - adrian kane, john ringor, nick allen, veda kilaru
"This cash-only hot dog stand in Bridgeport is from the same people behind Red Hot Ranch. But we like this location just a few steps away from Guaranteed Rate Field because it's fantastic place to grab a cheap hot dog or burger before dealing with the hiked-up prices at a Sox game. The place is small, but we’ve always been able to grab a spot at the counter or the outdoor picnic tables, which still manage to have more room than our Spirit Airlines flight. The hot dogs have a snappy texture, the burgers are juicy, and you can upgrade to a double dog or double cheeseburger, plus fries, without breaking the $8 barrier." - john ringor, veda kilaru
"We commonly ask ourselves, “Why do we still live here?” when rent, grocery prices, and the cost of existing always seem to go up. But this Bridgeport fast food joint (and its Red Hot Ranch siblings) helps us realize that a great cheap meal is possible. Armed with just a $10 bill (it’s cash-only), you can get a juicy charred burger or a hot dog, plus some fries. Everything is delicious, but it tastes even better knowing that you still have money left for Bears tickets, a vacation, or a $12 grapefruit." - john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen

"There’s two restaurants called Redhot Ranch on the North Side of Chicago, and one stand on the South Side called 35th Street Red Hots, right by what old-timers call Comiskey Park (where the White Sox play). All three locations have a small but exemplary menu of hot dogs, burgers, and fried shrimp." - ByDennis Lee
