Acapulco Deli - Review - Greenpoint - New York - The Infatuation

"We take restaurant recommendations from a handful of trusted sources. Friends, family, the internet, Pat Kiernan. But when the tip comes from another respected restaurant? Straight to the top of our list. To risk losing us as customers so we can enjoy a meal and spend our money elsewhere - that’s the stuff of angels. And that’s how we learned about Acapulco Deli and Restaurant. On a trip to Mexico 2000 - another excellent, low-key Mexican spot in Brooklyn - we were told that we had to try this Greenpoint mainstay. The lady making us tacos literally told us we needed to taste the tacos at another place. You just don’t look that type of free taco intel in the face. So of course we went. And then we went back. And then we went back six(teen) more times. Out of nowhere, Acapulco Deli has become one of our most reliable Mexican spots. For the food, of course, but also for the fact that we can use it for so many meals. First time through, we were five men lining the lunch counter. Next, I came +1 and took a table for a low-key Date Night. After that, I showed up and ate a solo Mexican breakfast. Each visit we were fully taken care of and each visit we had an excellent meal. So thanks for the recommendation, nice taco lady. We owe you one. Or six(teen). Food Rundown Nachos Moses. The chips, which are excellent on their own, are laid on top of beans, and then covered with cheese, before being set under the broiler. They come out all sortsa gooey-melted and are then topped with lettuce, pico, jalapeños and your meat of choosing. Reread that rundown. The beans on the bottom make them equal parts messy and incredible. Tacos Compared to your normal taqueria, these are massive. Which is why they are $6-7. But an order comes with two, which is enough food for a normal lunch. Double tortilla, onions and cilantro, and a heavy heap of steak, al pastor, spicy meat, whatever. Good value, good charred meat. Fajitas Can’t tell you the last time we gave a sht about fajitas but this place does them right. Go with the mixed chicken and steak. The meat is tender and the peppers and onions are cooked perfectly. Huaraches The lone disappointment from our visits. The refried beans lack flavor, and they are entirely unwieldy. No need for these with so many other heavy hitters in the park. Carne Asada Can go simple here, too. Thin steak pressed on the grill, solid rice and beans. Mexican Soda Because they’re full of sugar and sugar is delicious." - Ben Kopelman

The Best Sandwiches Around New York City | Eater NY

"My heart raced as I saw the pernil enchilado torta on the menu — a pork roast bathed in a thick Mexican chile sauce — and when it arrived in its aluminum receptacle I was not disappointed: the sandwich was so gloppy with sauce and avocado that I was covered from head to toe before I was finished; the pickled jalapeño gives it extra kick ($10)." - Robert Sietsema

A Mexican diner that hasn't changed in the 20 years I've been eating fajitas and nachos here. It's cheap, solid and perfect for a no frills breakfast and the service is fast, too!

This place rocks. The staff is friendly, the food is quick and affordable. And the food is unbelievable. The Acapulco ham and cheese torta is out of this world. The spicy pork enchiladas had so much flavor. It was very tender while also having a great crust on it.

Great food and atmosphere, it made me feel back in Mexico 🇲🇽, the ladies are lovely and the food is tasty. Try the burritos, they’re huge and better than Chipotle’s

Torta milanesa was really delicious. More tender, juicy chicken than I knew what to do with! Perfectly flavored and very generous portions. Good & prompt service.

Paid $50 for wow of the worst tacos I’ve ever had. Dry and not flavorful. I don’t see any reason to go back. However, the service was excellent. I hope these workers get to serve better food at more reasonable prices.

Great food, great service, great prices, and a really extensive menu with anything to satisfy your taste buds. Was the perfect thing to eat after doing a 2 mile walk today. Can't wait to go back!

Delicious home style Mexican food. I love the fact that they make their own beans, they’re not out of a can. If you ordered chips with guacamole, you might think it’s a little expensive but the amount of guacamole that they give you is massive. And it’s delicious. And they have Horchata.

Grew up on this spot since the early 90’s. Had the chance to pick it up this weekend still the same solid place it’s always been.
