New in the Castro and 100% vegan, aíso is queer-owned and taps pan-tropical flavors—beet tartare, garlic-butter udon, jerk sliders—in a fun, shareable format. Covered by Hoodline and flagged by Eater editors as a notable 2025 opening.

Absolutely delicious and thoughtful cocktail bar with creative menu and drinks. Really good non-a option on request. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Personal favorite was the jerk sliders and pineapple tofu skewers, but truly everything was great.

aiso is the latest hot spot in the Castro that curates a menu catered towards a plant-based diet and exquisite cocktail taste. The restaurant is a love letter from neighborhood legend, Corbin C. and his long history with and commitment to the community. Food is on point. Drinks are delicious. Service is exceptional. Check it out for yourself and bring a friend or few.

So I came upon this place when I was starving and needed some good food. Omg first I'm so glad there is a vegan restaurant in the Castro! The food was good, it's a cute atmosphere and the drink was strong! I ordered the damn Gina, oyster skewer, jerk sliders, garlic udon and chocolate fondant. It sounds like a lot but it was perfect for one person. These are kind of small plates but pretty yummy. I could see this place as a great date night too. I think the udon needed a bit more salt but it was still great. They have lots of gluten free options too. This place is 100% vegan plant based too.

Very cool place. Tried a lot of the menu: The sliders were delicious. The desserts were definitely worth it. The garlic noodles were good but need a little something more (like a touch of salt, some other little veggies, toppings etc) to balance the dish. Enjoyed the fruit in the salad. This place is of course vegan but a meat eater who's unfamiliar with vegan food would enjoy this food without issue. The vibe of the restaurant is hip/cool but comfortable.

Yelp
Does SF think it's Portland all of a sudden? Just kidding. Portland has like 5 vegan bars. We could never compete. But at least we have this one now. I would recommend this spot for a date night or special occasion because it's very fancy and has a nice ambience. It's a little pricey for my taste though ($45 for 1 drink and 2 mushroom skewers). I could probably get filled up for less money at millennium to be honest. (See my menu pics for prices.) But that being said, it's a great location! And millennium went and moved across the bay like the abandoners that they are haha. They staff are very friendly, street parking was easy to find (and is free after 6), and it's right around the corner from a locally owned hardware store (Cliffs), so you can pick up items for that repair project you've been putting off. In addition to being completely vegan, the majority of the menu is also gluten-free. Instead of marking the items that are gluten-free, they mark the items that contain gluten.

Yelp
we popped into aiso for the first time and were immediately greeted with such warm, welcoming energy. like we were longtime regulars. drinks were made with care and you could feel the attention to detail. that kind of hospitality goes a long way. we split the truffle fries and wow. straight up umami. crispy, savory, and a great shareable appetizer. price point is on the slightly higher end, but honestly the service was so on point we had no complaints. felt totally worth it, and we tipped accordingly. only tinyyy note on the drinks - given it's the castro, the pours could use just a liiiitle more oomph. i saw the jigger being used (which makes sense here), but the spot next door will outpour you for 1/3 less price point. not asking for free doubles, just a slightly less stingy pour - something that makes you go "oooh okay this one's got teeth." all in all tho - will definitely be back. good vibes, solid drinks.

Yelp
What a gem in the heart of the Castro! As a longtime vegan, I'm always on the lookout for plant-based spots that go above and beyond--and this one absolutely delivers. The food was incredible, but the standout was the chocolate cake--rich, decadent, and honestly one of the best vegan desserts I've ever had. The full bar is a real treat too, offering not only a solid cocktail list but also amazing mocktails. I had a custom-made ginger lime mocktail with a unique twist--perfectly balanced and refreshing. That kind of attention and care is rare and deeply appreciated. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a vibe that makes you want to linger. The service? Outstanding. Everyone was kind, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food and experience. And the owner was on site--friendly, passionate, and clearly dedicated to building community and supporting conscious living. It feels SO good to support a local vegan business that does it right. If you're vegan, vegan-curious, or just someone who loves amazing food and great energy, don't miss this place. Go check them out and show them some love!

Yelp
Love this place. Outstanding flavor combinations. Warm, attentive service. Intimate (but not too cozy) inside.

Yelp
Love this place! Cool, relaxed vibe, cozy space, excellent food, creative cocktails, and super friendly service. The roasted cauliflower, oyster mushroom skewers, garlic butter udon, and jerk sliders are all amazing! So glad there's finally a plant-based/vegan place in the Castro.
