Still fairly new to the scene, Alpenrausch has lots of potential to be an amazing restaurant, but I feel they need to iron out some kinks. The presentation of the restaurant, intimate and cozy ski chalet vibes, and the presentation of the food were wonderful, but the rest of my experience was lacking. I decided to visit for an early dinner around 4 pm and was asked by the host if I had a reservation. The restaurant had literally less than a handful of patrons when I arrived, and there were numerous open tables. I replied that I did not have a reservation and was seated in the far corner next to the wood stove. Although the stove enhanced the cozy Alpine feel of the restaurant, I was sweltering hot during my visit. When my waitress came over to take my order, I asked her what she recommended. She proceeded to say, "People have been ordering...." then ended with an, "Umm yeah," that made me feel like she did not have any genuine knowledge of the food on the menu. I decided on the fondue, schnitzel, and an Alto Apfels. Although the fondue came with an assortment of foods to dip and was beautifully presented, my fondue was rather thick and lumpy, and I personally felt it was bland and lacked flavor. My schnitzel was also plated nicely, but was a bit on the dry side. The Alto Apfels reminded me of a Hot Toddy with apricot alcohol, but I'm not sure it was worth the $16 dollar price tag considering it came in a cup only slightly larger than a teacup. The prices of the food did not seem to match the quality of the food and the service I received. It should be noted that there is also an additional Employee Wellness fee that will be added to your bill. Although business picked up slightly during my visit, it took my waitress 20 minutes to bring me my bill. Hopefully, with some fine tuning, Alpenrausch will reach it's true potential, but it's not quite there yet.
