Amalfi Cucina & Mercato Review - Downtown Atlanta - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Massive half-circle leather booths scream date night as you can cozy up as much as your hearts desire or, you know, “to keep warm.” Although Amalfi is in the unsexy part of downtown Atlanta often forsaken by locals, giant windows that open to a painted brick foyer covered with canopy lights gives the impression that you’re dining in some Italian courtyard. Or at least the Venetian in Vegas. Plus, Amalfi’s fabulous carnival-style margherita is the under-the-radar masterpiece that motivates us to pay $20 for parking, since dollops of creamy ricotta tuck into the corners of their puffy, wood-fired Neapolitan dough." - Nina Reeder

Service, food ingredients, personnel, all combined was the best ever in the area. Ordered 3 main dishes, the lasagna, the carbonara, and the Chicken Marcella. Each dish had its own special flavor and it was breathtaking the first bite I had on each dish with my family. The service was spectacular, our waiter checked up on us as if we were their kids! I love the atmosphere here as well. Felt very warm and a cozy household. Not to mention I came on my birthday. The dessert options were very limited however each dish sounded amazing. I got the chocolate bomb and oh my goodness there are no words for it. Unfortunately I’m not a local but whenever I get a chance to come back to Georgia, this will definitely be a place i’ll always have in mind. Many people complained about the smell surrounding the building but the moment I arrived it smelled like nothing but the atmosphere was very clean, outside and inside.

Google
Love this place! The Eggplant Parmigiana Melanzane Calamari Fritti were perfectly fried. The Cioppino has a nice kick of spice and is packed with fresh seafood. The Margherita Carnevale Pizza looks beautiful with its star shape and tastes authentically delicious. The Chicken Piccata was juicy with a bright lemon-caper sauce. The Hibiscus Fiore cocktail was very refreshing. Friendly staff, cozy vibe, and solid Italian food. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
I came in here really excited to enjoy good Italian but there was a consistent, looming cigar smell. I was here with my infant son and I don’t want him to catch second hand smoke. We are living in 2025 we don’t smoke in restaurants I hope the health safety board comes and checks this place out. I wish they would fix it because it would be such a better experience the food is good but I would not say fantastic. They also put a credit card surcharge on your bill without even asking. Overall not worth going trust me.

Google
This place is such a great spot to go for good food mixed with great atmosphere! Capers on the Vegano Penne Pasta were a game-changer, and I’ve been looking to do the same at home ever since. I also loved their Margherita Pizza, though it was a bit flimsy (the cheese fell off too easily). Fantastic portion sizes, very flavorful food, and beautiful interior. Service is also quick and very friendly!

We were sitting across the street at Hard Rock cafe and saw people in and out of this restaurant. We decided to just have drinks at Hard Rock cafe and eat dinner at Amalfi. What a disappointment. Our waitress was absolutely clueless. Every table in our area was frustrated. Our drinks were brought to the table and never filled up again. We were not impressed with our food at all. Im sure this is a great place to eat but we had a terrible experience. Maybe next time.

Google
Thank you for the great service Titi! Nice restaurant centrally located right next to a speakeasy. Delicious food. Great service. They validate parking for 3 hours. Nice indoor and outdoor reviews. Definitely try the frosé when you are here. Puréed peach and rose.

Google
The food was delicious! Everything is made from scratch. The caprese salad is so good! I also got spaghetti with meatballs and it was really good! The atmosphere was elegant. I think I was a little under dressed with jeans and tennis shoes. The manager was so nice and kept checking on us. When I left, I accidentally left my purse and she came running out as I was driving away to get it back to me! 5 stars for food, atmosphere and service!

Google
The Amalfi Cucina + Mercato offers an exceptional dining experience with its succulent handmade pasta, richly infused sauce, and welcoming ambiance, creating a quaint and romantic atmosphere perfect for a special night out or corporate event. Pairing the meal with a bottle of their carefully curated vino and dipping into the crispy bruschetta only adds to the delight, making it one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. The calamari and lobster ravioli was excellent!!

Yelp
I wasn't sure we were at the front entrance because outdoor dining is usually on the side or back of the restaurant but in this case, it's the front. We decided to eat outside and after we were seated we asked if we could do the booth instead. The entire staff is very accommodating. Choosing your meal? Very difficult because it all sounds amazing! I got the artichoke hearts - 10/10. The calamari is mid but okay. The salmon? HEAVENLY Drinks were excellent and our server Ruka (?) was a great guide for choices. I got a free birthday dessert and chose the gelato. I don't even LIKE chocolate ice cream but it was delicious! Highly, highly recommend this amazing place. Wear bug spray if you sit outside though.

Yelp
Pizza-good Service-ok I had the weirdest interaction with one of the servers entering the restaurant. I couldn't figure out which door to go into because I noticed some people going into the red phone booth as I was walking up. I asked the server "is this the way into the restaurant?" and the server made it seem like I was speaking another language or something. Anywho, that same server ended up being our server. AWKWARD...they tried to give a reason for the weirdness probably to make sure their tip wasn't sucky but they'd already given me a bad first impression so....added to that it was extremely hot in there. We ordered the star pizza with pepperoni which was pretty good. So thank goodness for that.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
Great experience overall! The atmosphere was quiet and inviting with nice background music. We started with the Margherita Carnevale Pizza with pepperoni -- absolutely delicious, one of the best I've had in a while. I had Nonna's Spaghetti and Meatballs, which was decent but nothing special. My wife's Chicken Alfredo was amazing -- super creamy, fresh, and flavorful. Only downside: we weren't offered water and had to ask for it. Still, the food and vibe made it worth it.

Yelp
Not really the meal I was expecting. I ordered my food for delivery, so hopefully the dine-in experience is better. The mozzarella en carrozza was good, though small. I wasn't a fan of the bolognese sauce in the pasta dish. It was too sweet or perhaps nutty, though the pasta was cooked well. Usually when I eat bolognese sauce at restaurants it has a meatier flavor. I thought I could taste nutmeg which isn't a flavor profile I usually crave for dinner. I may be an outlier, but it just wasn't for me.

Yelp
Amalfi talks up their pizza oven so I went with the pizza. The pizza came out with a nice crispy crust with some charred bubbles. The margarita pizza was tasty although the tomato sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. The pizza is a good value. Service was friendly and the pizza came out quickly. The inside has more of an upscale restaurant feel which I appreciated.
google avatar

Yelp
I truly enjoyed our dinner! The service was great and staff is very friendly. We started off with toasted ciabatta which is served with whipped ricotta drizzled in olive oil with bruschetta topping. It was amazing! I had the lobster ravioli and my daughter had the chicken marsala. Both were very good but chicken marsala was the best!! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because there was no air conditioning and they had fans running. Otherwise this place is hands down our goto Italian restaurant!!
google avatar

Yelp
The Rigatoni Di Napoli pasta and shrimp arugula pizza were both phenomenal at Amalfi Cucina + Mercato. Fresh perfectly cooked noodles with the most decadent sauce. The pizza crust is out of this world - true Neapolitan style. Our server Kaylah was very attentive and friendly. She recommended the Frose and I'm so glad she did! The atmosphere is warm with a lively ambiance. Rustic-chic setting was charming and memorable. I will definitely be back! Thank you for a great experience.

Yelp
FOOD WAS AMAZING!! Service pretty rough. Watch out for wrong bills and being charged credit card fees when paying cash. Group of 6, 1 wrong dish came out..... correct dish didn't come out until everyone else was finished. Seems the dish was not prioritized! Put a damper on an amazing night and delicious food, especially when the service was apathetic. Will return cautiously, was 3rd year in a row eating here for 4th of July weekend. Personal note....because of the delays we canceled the remainder of our plans for the night - very disappointed.

Yelp
When we entered Amalfi we were really impressed by the aesthetics and soothing atmosphere. They are now open for lunch Tuesday -Saturday . We had the calamari that was seasoned perfectly that we didn't even dip it in the sauce that comes on the side . The sauce on the Margherita pizza tasted like I was in Italy , baked in a brick oven . An unexpected treat for lunch on a Saturday . There is plenty of parking in the garage next door . The first 2 hours of parking is free .Thank you Kayla for a pleasant dinning experience.

Yelp
Great Italian restaurant located in downtown Atlanta. I had a work dinner here and my team enjoyed the ambiance, food and service.

Yelp
This is my go-to spot for pizza! As someone with celiac, it's always tough to find a good place, but their gluten-free pizza is consistently delicious. I did try the one downtown, but unfortunately, I've been disappointed every time. I'll be sticking with the one in Buckhead from now on -- it's always a safe bet!

Yelp
I've recently tried more dishes. Love the chicken marsala with parmesean risotto and the calamari

Yelp
Note: This is a restaurant I would give 3.5 stars for if possible. Amalfi Cucina & Mercato is a Neapolitan pizzeria centered around a 6000 pound wood-burning brick oven, imported from Italy. Amalfi focuses on providing an authentic Italian menu using fresh, quality ingredients from the Campania region of Italy. Its owners, Greg Grant and Stephen de Haan, apprenticed under Pizzaiolo Maestros and studied under Associazione Verace Pizza Napolentana. ACM is located in Buckhead near the intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont Roads. There are two Atlanta locations, with the other eatery located Downtown. The restaurant group also owns Red Phone Booth locations in Atlanta, Nashville, Miami, and metro Dallas. The restuarant is very spacious. I have never been to Italy (very much on my bucket list), but I felt transported to Campania. Customer service was solid, as the staff was welcoming and fielded questions regarding the menu. We (party of 6) ordered: Drinks: French 75, Pineapple Martini, Coffee Appetizers: Pizza Amalfi, Insalata Della Casa, Blossom Fritti, Polpette (meatballs) Mains: Rigatoni di Napoli (blackened chicken), Nonna's Spaghetti and Meatballs, Aragosta (Lobster) Ravioli Dessert: Caramel cheesecake The French 75 was solid, but we loved the Pineapple Martini. The coffee was cold and we ended up returning it. The Pizza Amalfi was delicious with its thin crust, rich San Marzano sauce, and balance of spice from the sausage with the peppadew peppers. The Insalata Della Casa was not memorable, lacking a memorable dressing. I loved the marinara sauce with the basil and mozzarella; however, I did not enjoy the flavor of the meatballs. The Blossom Fritti was also disappointing, as the batter and zucchini blossoms were bland. The main dishes were enjoyed by all members of our party. The Lobster Ravioli was particularly memorable but we were all members of the clean plate club. We also really enjoyed the caramel cheesecake. The creaminess of the cheesecake paired well with the caramel topping. We would come back for their pizzas, creamy pastas, wine (Amalfi has a nice wine list featuring Italian wines), cocktails, and cheesecake.

Yelp
I ordered the spaghetti dish from here. It was the most well seasoned spaghetti I have ever had, and the meatballs were delicious. My partner thought his pizza was just okay and that it lacked toppings, but the spaghetti was one of the best I've had (that's saying a lot for such a simple dish). We ordered take out, but the service was quick and good.

Yelp
Somewhat tucked away on the corner of Peachtree and Piedmont. Good walking location for hotel goers of Hyatt Place and Hampton Inn. Those with kids it offers a nice portion size. Mine had the chicken Alfredo which could have offered more flavor. The garlic bread was hard outside and soft inside but that can be customary to Italy. Also to note it was a to go order with easy phone ordering.

Yelp
We had a party of 4 for dinner on Saturday, 1/20/24, at 5:30 pm. The restaurant is really cute. Good date-like atmosphere. We split 2 appetizers between the 4 of us and each got our own entree. My friend and I shared our 2 entrees. Here's what I had: - Mozzarella en Carrozza ($12): Perfectly crispy. Very good. - Eggplant Parmigiana Melanzane ($15): A little cold. The eggplant wasn't fried to our liking. Definitely not worth $15. Pass. - Spicy Sicilian Pizza with ricotta-filled crust ($17 + $5): We were told we could do any pizza and make the crust ricotta-filled. The amount of ricotta in each slice was the miniature-est dollop. We felt like it was a ripoff. The actual pizza was decent though! - Rigatoni di Napoli ($22): This was heavy, but I enjoyed it. Others in my party weren't as keen on it though. My friend got the Chicken Alfredo ($26) and didn't like it at all. Overall, we had high hopes, but were a little disappointed. We wouldn't go back.

Yelp
So many stars would I award Amalfi for ambiance and service; however, the food taste and quality was way lacking. The entrance, decor, seating, music, and open kitchen were all incredible. I can't fault a single part of the experience and setting. Our server Morgan was an absolute doll - full of great recommendations and a terrific attitude. We both ordered pizzas (Verdura, and the Amalfi one w/ bacon jam), and the Verdura was sloppy and unseasoned, and the other was overly sweet and tasted like a bottle of store BBQ sauce was the base. The crust was flavorless too which was a letdown. We were only in town for a fun getaway so it's unlikely that I'd be eating here again, but it's not high on my recommendation or repeat list. I suppose my suggestion is to order something other than pizza. :)
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
My friend found this restaurant on Instagram and we decided to come. The restaurant was not crowded, and we were sat after entering. Our server was very attentive and answered all our questions. The lemon cello cocktail was the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. The calamari was battered lightly and topped with a great sauce. For entrees, I ordered the shrimp alfredo, and my friend had a shrimp scampi like dish. We both enjoyed our meals since they were flavored well, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Lastly, we had the carmel cheese cake, and it was definitely the best dessert I've had in a while.

Yelp
We had a phenomenal experience at Amalfi Cucina! We made a reservation on a Saturday night, but we could have walked in as well. We were greeted by the manager, Melissa, who made everything start to finish a 5 star experience. She seated us, checked on us throughout dinner, and saw us off with a hug like we were family. You can tell she really cares about the diners and the company she works for. Our waiter was Abel, he had great energy and took great care of us. The atmosphere was upscale and beautiful, but not stuffy. I would highly recommend the Spicy Sicilian pizza and the Pineapple Cosmo. This place did not disappoint. Will definitely return the next time we are in town!
google avatar

Athena F.

Yelp
The food here is so good! I ordered the Margherita pizza, and my fiancé got the Amalfi pizza, Carnevale style. Caesar salad was also delicious and fresh. We like the romantic atmosphere there as well. It's perfect for date night. The manager on duty also did a great job making sure we were served on time. The only downside is the ventilation system seems poor. Red Phone Booth is next door, and the cigar smell comes through to Amalfi and it's VERY STRONG. You stop noticing after 30 minutes, but this may be off putting for some folks. I'm personally not a big fan of smelling cigar or cigarette smoke where I eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Amalfi's been on our try-it list for a while then we saw their feature on Atlanta Eats and had the chance to visit this weekend. It wasn't crowded so felt more intimate and nothing took long at all. The cocktail was not as fruity as I expected for it to have blackberries in it but not bad at all - strong, too. The DOP pizza was AMAZING! I see why they have been certified by Italian chefs themselves. And the chicken Alfredo pasta was flavorful and saucy like my boyfriend likes it. Customer service was exceptional, too. We will return and try more dishes. Thank you!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious. Yummy mozzarella. Not soggy. Perfect amount of char. Ate on the patio. Good service.

Ruth S.

Yelp
We were on vacation and stopped in at Amalfi on a Friday night. The ambiance was very soothing and we immediately thought we were underdressed. As it turned out, we were not. We were so impressed with the waitstaff (Abel), the food, and the manager, Jenda. The food was wonderful, sorry, no pics. Abel was very attentive and Jenda was as nice as could be, in fact we had a great conversation after dinner. If you are ever in Buckhead Atlanta, seek them out, you won't be sorry. They take reservations but we didn't need them.

Yelp
First time customer. Pretty disappointed. Food looked way better online than in person. Average at best food for above average price. Pasta was watery and only taste was salt. Salad reminded me of a prepackaged plastic bowl salad. Definitely won't try this place again. Finished typing n then tried the Cannoli. Ehhh terrible. How this place has 4 starts is beyond me
google avatar

Gabe H.

Yelp
Beautiful venue. We went on a Friday just as they opened and it was empty but we were seated immediately and food came out quickly. We tried two appetizers that were suggested the blossom fritti which were underwhelming and just seemed like mozzarella sticks. The fried artichokes came in a creamy lemon sauce and were good. Our pizza was delicious with a lot of veggies and flavors but we did get it without the cherry tomatoes and peppers. Last was our salad and it was good. Over all we give this place 4 Gs

Yelp
What an amazing dinner!! We had a great experience at Amalfi Cucina in Buckhead. Parked across the street in the lot with the Marshalls. The host was super friendly. My girlfriend already had a reservation. The inside was super cute. We had really great service from our server Dom. He gave us some great recommendations. We had the calamari for appetizer and also had margherita pizza. An Italian salad and the rigatoni for dinner! All were highly recommended and tasted amazing! Everything came out fairly quick which was also great! We both had a glass of red wine. The espresso martini was great as well. We tried the tiramisu for dessert and you are able to get different options gelato that comes with it ga the pistachio which is on the menu. We also had cappuccinos after dessert. The wine options were great as well!
google avatar

Shanoa Y.

Yelp
Service: Hostess and Wait staff was very friendly. Seated at the bar and the hostess provided recommendations of drinks and food. Food: Food was fresh. Calamari was amazing. My friend ordered the Arancini and they stated it was really good. Drinks were good. Prices ranges from $13-20 for food and drinks. A 3% liquor tax is included when you close your tab. Ambiance: The location is super spacious. Booths are definitely good for large parties of 5-7 people. But they also have other booth options for large parties. Music is instrumental and not played loudly. Ambiance was nice, chill and inviting. Good date location too. Overall: I would go again and order the pizza since other reviews stated the pizza was A-1.

Yelp
Food: Made a reservation for Mother's Day. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer, the spicy Sicilian pizza, and a pasta with spinach, shrimp and tomatoes. The pizza was super thin but SO delicious. A great combo of spicy and sweet. The pasta was super tight and flavorful. The bruschetta was already really good. The tomatoes were super fresh and the butter on the bread was smooth. Service: Our server was so so sweet. Gave my mom a free cheesecake for Mother's Day. When giving us some cheese for the pasta, a part of the grater landed in my moms food. She immediately apologized and offered to replace the meal. My mom decided to keep it but they still comped the pasta. Many places would've not done anything at all so I greatly appreciate it. The food and service was 10/10 . Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Vincent T.

Yelp
A fantastic Italian restaurant! Melissa our hostess was outstanding and gave us a great table right by the kitchen. The food was excellent. We loved the zucchini flowers, calamari and meatballs for appetizers. The pizza was tasty. And the pasta was exceptional. Our server was very attentive and was there for everything we needed. The atmosphere of the establishment was well appointed and welcoming. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Maria P.

Yelp
The inside is so pretty & welcoming. Our server was very nice & patient, even helping us decide on a bottle of wine. There is a parking deck on the right side of the restaurant that has free parking for the first 2 hrs. For appetizers we ordered the bruschetta & arancini. They were both good, but I preferred the bruschetta. The Pasta con Gamberi was soo delicious & the portion was a good size. I'll definitely be back to order this again. I also ordered an espresso martini & pistachio tiramisu. I'm not a fan of desserts but wow this was good, order it! Espresso martini was excellent & well made. Overall a great spot & I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Nysa T.

Yelp
We were sat and then ignored by the servers. Four servers + the manager stood nearby talking, clicking their pens, chatting away. As we walked out of the restaurant due to being ignored, the manager/owner smirked and told us to "have a great night". He didn't even care that we weren't acknowledged or served. Needless to say we won't be returning.
google avatar

Gelene J.

Yelp
Yesterday had a Saturday dinner date here and LOVED IT! We chose to sit outside on the patio, the weather was great. Our two waitresses were very nice and made great suggestions :) Service was great, and no long waits. Ordered the Margherita DOP pizza, and the veal bolognese; both 10/10. For dessert we had cannolis + espresso martinis-- so good!
google avatar

C J.

Yelp
The aesthetics & vibes were great! 10/10 Food: * Rigatoni: 10/10 - so good! * Spicy Sicilian pizza: 10/10 -order now! Not really spicy* * Bolognese: 7/10 - decent taste *Chicken Parmigiano: 0/10 - awful flavor, tasteless spaghetti, watery tomato sauce Service: 10/10 - was great! The waitress & manager was really nice & accommodating. Literally everyone was nice. I can't wait to return!

S. K.

Yelp
We stopped by since we were looking for a decent place for salad & pizza. We were seated within a few minutes of arriving and the hostess was very friendly since we were walk-ins. It was lively but acoustically appropriate and we could hear each other. We were pleasantly surprised with the food - we ordered the eggplant parmigiana and house salad to start and other than the salad being a tad overdressed, both were very good. We also ordered the Amalfi pizza which was excellent. Our server was polite but not super friendly. My only suggestion/recommendation is it would have been nice to have a non--alcoholic bar option.
google avatar

Sharon K.

Yelp
Great food and great service. We went on a Sunday night at 8pm and they seated us right away. Great place for a date night or even a girl's night out! Wonderful selection of wine and cocktails. I was being very indecisive about wine (of course), so the waitress offered to give me a sample of the one I was thinking about. We ordered the calamari for appetizer, shrimp gnocchi (I absolutely love gnocchi) and the tartufo pizza for entrees, then pistachio tiramisu for dessert. Overall, the food was on the saltier side (but I tend to eat things more bland than the usual). But pesto sauce was delicious and perfect with the gnocchi and shrimp. Tartufo pizza was great as well -- LOTS of mushrooms so don't order it if you don't like mushrooms. Best part was the tiramisu. I love tiramisu in general but the pistachio ice cream was an amazing addition. I've never seen that before so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Yelp
This place deserves 10 STARS!! The Pizza was absolutely incredible and had so much flavor!!! The small house salad with vinaigrette dressing was so fresh! Literally thought it was a garden out back used for ingredients! This is my new favorite Italian spot! Had a business lunch and my client was very impressed with the food, ambience (which was the first thing they commented on) and service! The gentleman who manages this place made us feel so special being our first time. He made great suggestions from the menu and everything was spot on from the Appetizer, Meal to Dessert. The Mango creme brûlée was so good we ordered seconds! Food was so good and well seasoned I want to go back for dinner tonight!
google avatar

P R.

Yelp
The service was lack luster. The pizza was decent. The Bolognese was not edible. It was way to sweet and flavorless. Tried ordering dessert but was ignored.
google avatar

Alysia W.

Yelp
I have dined here several times for table service as well as takeout. Every experience was consistent in that the food is always great. The prices are about average for Italian food and they even have a cute market by the front entrance. I'm a big fan of their calamari and rigatoni. The caesar salad is also incredible with the dressing they make. I haven't had a negative thing to say about their food ever but the cigar odor inside the restaurant can be off-putting. They are located next door to a speakeasy and the cigar smoke wafts through the ventilation system.
google avatar

Tara R.

Yelp
I got the ricotta stuffed crust pizza & calamari with aioli. PROS -Fresh ingredients sourced from Italy -Convenient location -Good portions -Reservations accepted, but not required CONS -Restaurant smells smoky (due to oven) -Can be pricey depending on what you order
google avatar

Thuy H.

Yelp
I came here for the first time last night with my boyfriend and the experience was underwhelming. As soon as we stepped in, the restaurants smells as if you're allowed to smoke cigs in there. All we could smell was cigs! I ordered the Pasta con Gamberi which was very lackluster. He ordered the Rigatoni di Napoli which was better than my dish but still was not crazy good. We will not be coming back to this spot. There are better Italian spots around town that I would go to instead.
google avatar

Katie J.

Yelp
We came for lunch at 1pm and it was nice and quiet with no patrons outside from our party. I had the shrimp pasta and it was delicious!! The zucchini blossom was average; it was too much batter for me. Note: there is a $20 cake fee in case anyone plans to celebrate anything there. I would definitely return for their shrimp pasta!

Yelp
This was our first time trying the Buckhead location, as we have been to the downtown one plenty of times in the past. The atmosphere is great, and the decor inside is lovely with all wood accents, pizza and wine themed decorations, and the chandeliers. We shared the calamari for our appetizer. Nice and crispy with an addicting sauce on top. For our mains, we ordered the same that we would order at the other location, the Quattro Formaggio for me and the Carne for my husband. Both were great, definitely very similar in quality to the downtown restaurant. This is a nice option for a date night, in a little bit of an easier to access location compared to the downtown one. Overall great food and service! I'm excited to try more entrees next time I'm back here.

Yelp
I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant. My friend and I sat at the bar on a slow Monday evening. The first thing I noticed was that it smelled like cigarette smoke. The owner or the staff must be enjoying some after shift cigarettes in the bar area. The fried squash blossoms were so greasy I could barely stomach them. I got the shrimp alfredo, which was average, especially for the price. My friend's veal bolognese was overly sweet and again, a disappointment. Our server was very friendly, however inattentive at times. The three employees would congregate down the bar from us and laugh and chit chat, and I had to interrupt more than once for my water to be refilled. Overall, our server was friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant itself was nice. But the price, subpar food, and cigarette smell are more than enough reasons for me not to return.

Yelp
We made a 6:30 pm reservation for Saturday night and were running late which was no problem at all because there were only a few diners at this time. My bf had raved about the Amalfi downtown location, and I can't resist a good tartufo pizza prepared in the Neapolitan style. The parking garage was a bit difficult to locate based on where Google maps was telling us to go, but we resisted the urge to park in the first garage we saw, turned the corner, and there was clear signage on where the restaurant and correct parking garage was (as well as valet, which we opted not to do). For appetizers we had the bruschetta and calamari. I tend to not order bruschetta when I go out because I find that the bread is always too hard/toasted and the ratio of tomato is never right. What I liked about Amalfi's is that the toast level on the ciabatta achieved the ideal balance of crusty on the outside with a soft chew on the inside, and with the tomatoes on the side so you could add as much (or as little) as you like. I also enjoyed the calamari and the fact that it did not include any of those weird tentacle pieces that no one ever really enjoys. For dinner we, of course, had the tartufo (that I'd been dreaming about for days) and also the Margherita D.O.P. I enjoyed the tartufo more, but I also have a slight proclivity towards white pizzas. For me, the bite of the pecorino romano on the margherita was a bit too strong - I would have preferred just mozzarella or maybe a less pungent cheese like parmigiano reggiano instead. For dessert, we had the pistachio tiramisu. I should mention that I'm not a fan of tiramisu (who enjoys eating soggy cookies? I don't get it) but I did really enjoy the pistachio gelato. I am weird and love pistachio flavor but not the actual nuts themselves, and the fact that this was smooth and decadent was what I enjoyed most. Service was good - the waiter was attentive but not overbearing. We initially ordered a bottle of wine that he said was not in stock, and rather than offering an alternative or asking more questions about what kinds of wine we liked, he left us to make our own decision. Thankfully someone (sommelier maybe?) came by to say they'd actually just gotten the bottle that we wanted back in stock. The manager also came by to check on us. They validated our parking on the way out without having to ask, which is also a nice touch. On our way out we visited the "market" which was really just a few things on shelves and in the fridge. The dried pasta they carried can also be purchased at Whole Foods so I didn't consider anything to be a rare find. We did buy a bag of fresh egg pappardelle which we have yet to cook. Overall, I enjoyed the food and experience here - might try the downtown location next time as my bf mentioned that it had a more elevated ambiance.

Yelp
We went here for dinner on our 5th wedding anniversary and this place quickly gained a spot on my list of top restaurants. We had a late lunch earlier in the day so went for a late dinner seating (9:45pm reservation). For a Saturday night, the place was surprisingly empty. This may have been a factor of how late we were eating, but also it was very nice to not be competing with other customers. Our waitress was attentive; the food came out hot and fast, as did my cocktail; and they gave us a free anniversary dessert! Also, it was easy to park in the attached lot and they validated our parking ticket. Here's our review of the food: --Spaghetti and Meatballs: it came with cheese-topped meatballs. This was the dud of our order. Luckily for us, it was also our additional dish ordered just for tasting. From my husband's perspective, the spaghetti needed more sauce and the meatballs needed more seasoning. He doesn't care for much cheese, so the melted cheese was easy to peel off. I also thought the noodles were too stiff. They were clearly cooked al dente and I wanted them softer. --Scottata Salmon: my husband ordered the fish cooked medium. It had good charring on the outside and yet wasn't over cooked. It was prepared well. The white wine butter sauce that it comes in was delicious and all of the flavors blended extremely well. The broccolini needed the sauce to dress it up. He said he would order this again. For me, I think the sauce was just a little too salty, but that may have been because of the capers. ‍ --Tartufo E Fungi: "BEST mushroom pizza EVER!!" is what I wrote on top on the container I took this home in. If you don't like mushrooms, this probably is not the dish for you. However, I love mushrooms and anything cooked in truffle oil; so, this pizza was literally perfection! --Amalfi Old Fashioned: this may have been the best old fashioned I've ever had. It was made strong and they added some type of candied cherries to the drink which infused it with a hint of sweetness that was a nice surprise. --Pistachio Tiramisu was our dessert choice. Nothing on the plate disappointed. Overall, this was a great experience and we definitely plan to return. Bonus: we took nice photos outside the restaurant. They have a fountain that's backed by a colorful mural and was good for some date night pics. There's also a small market at the front of the restaurant where you can purchase ingredients.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. Mellow vibe for an easy dinner wind down. Drink was super tasty and the pizza was nice sized.

Yelp
I think the photos online are much better than what you receive. Meat and cheese board was overpriced as it was very generic and seemed to come from a grocery store, maybe it was presentation. The chicken parm was decent, nothing special about it, great portion size. The pizza was also decent, center was a big under done. I also think the lack of people inside gave me a impression that it wasn't booked up and good enough.

Yelp
Cute little Italian restaurant. They were practically empty on a Monday evening. Decent place for a date. Our server was ok and friendly enough although not very knowledgeable of the menu and items and could tell he was just going through the motions. He didn't rush us though despite staying until close so I appreciate that he didn't seem too anxious to go home. The food was decent, nothing blew me away though. Caesar salad was quite good and very cold and flavorful. Shrimp pesto gnocchi was decent, pretty greasy, and sort of tasted reheated. The shrimp were pretty small. I guess no bread/butter to start at the table because they never brought any. Parked in the parking lot nearby. Overall a decent place, not the best Italian food but fine.
