Inside Buenos Aires: Chef Gonzalo Aramburu's Favorite Spots

"As dusk descends, I often begin the evening at Anchoíta, a charming cava in Chacarita with a carefully curated selection of Argentine wines and cheeses ideal for a picada; under the guidance of sommelier Valeria Mortara the venue offers over 200 wine labels, goat, sheep, and cow cheeses aged in-house, and a personalized selection of cured meats and preserved delicacies—items like river fish mortadella or acorn-fed pig ham make it a perfect aperitif spot." - Guía MICHELIN

The 12 Best Wine Bars In Buenos Aires 2024 - Buenos Aires - The Infatuation

"As soon as your server at Anchoita unrolls the scroll-like menu of wines by the glass, you’ll know you’re at a Serious Wine Place. Don’t be intimidated—the seasoned sommeliers are more than happy to walk you through the list line by line. Many spots only have a few by-the-glass options, but Anchoita Cava has 20+, ranging from lesser-known producers to wines from award-winning vineyards. Once you’ve ordered drinks, move on to the near-endless charcuterie options—there’s a whole menu page devoted to goat cheese alone. Anchoita Cava is tiny and doesn’t take reservations, so it’s best for an afternoon drink with a friend (or an intimate date with someone who really loves goat cheese)." - annie bacher

Very nice wine bar with a massive menu of wine and cheese plus extra snacks. Recommended to us by a sommelier relative. Really delicious wine and cheese and professional upscale service. Plus the bathroom is the nicest in the entirety of Buenos Aires, heated seat and all! Only suggestion would be a book menu instead of extra-long single pieces of paper and also a larger font because it was darker lighting and hard to read (and we’re still very young).

We can't recommend Anchoita Cava enough! Whether you're a local or just visiting, this gem is an absolute must-visit. We can't wait to return and indulge in more of their incredible wines and delicious tapas! Highly recommended!

Google
Lovely experience at Anchoita Cava. They have a REALLY extensive wine list, that it’s impressive even. And the combination of locally sourced cheese and charcuterie, and local wines reinforces the saying - what grows together goes together. The staffs were attentive, and were very approachable when we sought for their recommendations, so we were in good hands throughout. I’m not sure if it’s a deliberate decision to do so, but my only feedback will be for the breads to be served warm and not cold.

Waiter was nice and spoke good English - made good recommendations. Can bring wine to the restaurant Anchoíta after. Garlic bread was not as garlicky as we would’ve liked, but we appreciated the cheese sample platter they made us

Very unpleasant situation, embarrassing to say the least. We a couple chatting to another costumer, foreigner. We order our bill, they charged us extra units we didn't ordered. We noticed this only by chance, because it were duplicated "small" dishes. We noticed staff about it, and immediately brought us drinks and cash (real pesos bills), refused to change bill. Meanwhile, we advised our foreigner table buddy to check, and they over charged him for 10%. It's clearly a tourist trap , avoid this. Twice in minutes time, and just by chance noticable.

We came for a glass of wine, absolutely amazing by the glass selection! Wished we had ordered a cheese board because selection of that was amazing too.
