The Best Restaurants In Lincoln Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Chicago doesn't have very many Central Asian restaurants, and Anor is a noteworthy addition to the scene. This casual Uzbek spot has great starters, like a crispy fried eggplant salad with sweet chili sauce or their peppery beef manty. Follow those up with some lagman or kabobs, and make sure to throw in some honey cake for dessert. Since there are usually plenty of open seats and Anor has large servings, coming with a group and sharing a bunch of dishes is the best strategy." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru

Anor - Review - Lincoln Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"With Anor in Lincoln Park, Chicago’s small (but mighty) collection of Central Asian restaurants continues to grow. And this casual Uzbek spot is a noteworthy addition. Their starters are fantastic, with dishes like fried eggplant salad drizzled with sweet chili sauce or their peppery beef manty. Make sure to follow up with some lagman or kabobs, and finish up with some honey cake for dessert. Anor has lots of open seating and fairly large servings, so showing up with a group and sharing a bunch of dishes is a great strategy (though everyone will probably want their own slice of honeycake)." - John Ringor

We ordered the mushroom soup and white soup as appetizers, followed by Lula kebab, lamb kebab, chicken kebab, and pasta for the main course. For dessert, we had honey cake and another dish with a name too hard to remember— but it was delicious! :)) One great thing about their menu is that it includes photos of the dishes, which makes it easier to decide what to order. The waiter was also very helpful in explaining the options. My friend wasn’t a big fan of her appetizer and main course, but I personally enjoyed my meal. Overall, it was a good experience and definitely worth trying!

About a month ago we checked out this restaurant. I ordered manti, samsa, and honey cake (medovik). My friend got plov — and I think I also had some kind of soup, maybe lagman. We shared a pot of fruit tea too, and I tried the Napoleon cake. Service was top-notch, and we were really impressed with the interior and overall vibe — great atmosphere. Everything we tried was super tasty except for the Napoleon cake. It felt pretty dry, like the layers didn’t have enough cream. But all in all, we had a great experience and really enjoyed it.

We were disappointed with our recent visit. The plov we ordered didn’t taste fresh, and the samsa was more like plain bread — lacking the texture and flavor we expected. Unfortunately, the quality didn’t match the price, making it hard to justify the cost. Wouldn’t recommend based on this experience.

“I tried Kuurdak , and it was absolutely delicious! The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly dried—it literally melted in my mouth. A true comfort dish with rich, deep taste. Highly recommend it!

A hidden gem of a restaurant in Chicago. Savoury, rich, and authentic Kazakh / Central Asian cuisine with modest prices. The staff are friendly and made sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. I dined here multiple times during my short stay in Chicago; I would highly recommend anyone looking to enjoy a great meal to try this place!

Wow, wow! Spectacular food. Everything is home made from scratch. I think Chicago has been missing home cooked meals with love. If you want tasteful and unique flavors made with love, this is the place to go. You will be thrilled. Healthy choices. I wish I could give more stars! I’ll be back with family and friends.

Yesterday, we visited your restaurant, and I wanted to leave a review. Everything was absolutely amazing! The interior is cozy and stylish, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was incredibly delicious, and the portions were huge — no one could possibly leave hungry. A special thank you to your staff member, Tomiris. She provided exceptional service and made us feel truly cared for, as if we were at home. I was especially touched by the surprise birthday cake — it was such a heartfelt gesture that it brought tears to my eyes. I’ve never been celebrated in such a thoughtful way before! Tomiris is not only a professional but also a kind and beautiful person. I wish her and your team great success! May your restaurant continue to thrive and make every guest feel as happy and special as I did on my birthday.

Just like what other comments said, this place offers tasty food with modest price! I started my meal with a pot of lemon mint tea, which was refreshing & aromatic and cost me only $4.95. Then my family and I tried their samsa, plov, beef noodles, and lamb skewers. It was my first time trying mid-Asian / eastern European food and I was so impressed. Will definitely come back next time.
