The Best Italian Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"The longtime East County restaurant showcases the seasons with nightly specials like lobster in the spring and caponata with peak-season tomatoes in the summer. Other menu favorites include the braised short ribs marinated in cabernet sauvignon and pistachio-crusted salmon. Here, wine is almost a given with half-price bottles on Monday and Tuesday and no corkage fees on Wednesdays. The outdoor patio is decked out with a garden-like ceiling for al fresco dining." - Helen I. Hwang

Antica Trattoria Review - Ridgewood - New York - The Infatuation

"If Antica Trattoria looks like the kind of restaurant that starts you off with an order of free bread, that’s because it does. And we really appreciate that. In a town where Italian cuisine has been refined to perfection, the fettuccine and chicken marsala here aren’t necessarily destination-worthy, but who cares? Most things cost less than $20—including all the pizzas and pastas—and the meatballs come with a surprise hidden inside (cheese). For a low-maintenance date night, grab one of the 10 or so tables in the dining room decorated with garlands of fake flowers, and enjoy some mozzarella in carrozza alongside a $9 glass of wine. photo credit: Bryan Kim" - Bryan Kim

Can one $3 order of supposed fresh baked bread lose you a couple of Stars? In my case yes! We went with most of the recommended items that Levi brought up. He was very convincing about his suggested recommendations. And they were great.....but I won't really talk about them....instead I want to focus on the first order of bread. The softest, warmest, earthiest tasting bread ever. We loved it so much that we ordered another one. We're not piggies! The bread order is small. Like a 6" sub size. The 2nd bread was terrible. It was like a rock. We tried to find a soft spot and even tried soaking it in the olive oil or sauce that came with our dishes but no luck. We disected it and kept looking for the soft spot but nope! When Levi (who was great by the way) asked "How was everything?" I was honest and explained that everything was fantastic! But that the 2nd bread was terrible. His answer to us was that he was going to let the baker in charge know about it. Well that just doesn't cut it. I got to thinking and the veal parmiggiana was soggy.

Had a great time here! The food was delicious—especially the penne with salmon and shrimp. The portion was big enough to split, so if you’re on a date, I definitely recommend sharing! The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of cool things to look at, making it a great spot for a romantic night out. Service was top-notch for the most part, though it got a little overwhelmed during the busy rush. Prices are on the higher side, so it’s more of a date-night or special occasion spot rather than a casual family dinner. Overall, a solid experience—good food, great ambiance, and friendly service. Four stars because of the price and slight wait during peak hours, but I’d still recommend checking it out!

My fiance and I came for dinner to try out their Restaurant Week deal. I had the Arancini, Saltimbocca, and the chocolate lava cake. My fiance had the mussels, brasato, and tiramisu. The flavors were on point. The service was great. I just wish the portions were a little bigger.

I recently visited Antica Trattoria for dinner and had an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and charming decor instantly transported me to Italy. The lighting perfectly set the mood for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. The service was outstanding — our server was attentive, friendly, and made spot-on recommendations that enhanced our meal. When the food arrived, I was blown away by the beautiful presentation and even more impressed by the fresh, delicious flavors. Each dish was clearly prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. The drinks and wine selection were excellent, pairing perfectly with the meal. Overall, Antica Trattoria exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

Google
Enjoyed our visit here. The waitress was excellent, very sociable, attentive to our needs and they took us without a reservation. Background music and light ambience meant we didn’t have to shout to talk to each other. I had the lasagna which was really tasty, and a decent portion size. The waitress bought us a free ice cream for our anniversary. They had a sigh near the entrance which said they were short staffed and to be please be patient but we didn’t wait too long for service or food really. Would definitely return. Only criticism would be they don’t have a physical dessert menu and you have to ask, and I’m one of those who’s keen to know the price of things.

It was alright. Had a reservation and got sat super quickly, had waters refilled constantly which was nice but after our drink order was taken it felt like the waiter kind of forgot about us. It took a while to get our drinks and bread and it did not look like a busy night. Then it took a while for the waiter to come back to finally take the tables order. The table behind us felt like they were getting super prompt service but us not so much and we had the same waiter. Food did come out kind of quick and it was alright but nothing amazing. First time attending this spot.

Google
This is a small restaurant. We had a reservation and they seated us in the covered area outside, which was a good thing as they were crowded inside. I recommend making a reservation. Outside was perfect for our party of 12. We all enjoyed our meals and especially the drinks. Service was great. Always there to fill water glasses and refills for drinks. Meals came out all at once and hot. There is handicap parking.

Google
Our server started out spicy and ended up sour. Wow. Unbelievably rude. Full after my meal, the remaining portion of my dinner had been sitting for at least 15 minutes while our group engaged in conversation at the table. The server came around and shamed the women that didn't finish our meal. She leaned in and proceeded to treat me like a toddler, took my actual fork and tried to feed me the leftovers, not once, but twice. Completely inappropriate. She also handed the spoons for dessert to our husbands and said you can only have dessert if they say it's ok since you didn't finish your meal. This could be construed as funny, however, one incident after another left us unamused and annoyed. Misogyny isn't dead. I really wanted to enjoy a night out here after reading the reviews. The wine was the only thing that didn't disappoint.

Yelp
Great service! Friendly and attentive bus boy and Heather was an amazing server! The food was wonderful! Halibut and Saltimbocca ! So good! We will be back!

Yelp
My second time here, and it was simply awesome! I've been to many Italian restaurants where they seemed quite conservative in terms of flavor (particularly salt), but this place isn't. Everything we ate is salted and flavored perfectly. I got an espresso martini on a Tuesday night and it was exactly what I needed - it was cold, refreshing, with a perfect balance of bitter and sweet. We got their specials, zucchini flower for appetizer which was melt in your mouth good and a seafood squid ink pasta in a marinara-based sauce. Both were excellent! For dessert, we had to try both the spumoni and tiramisu. How we finished both, I don't know. They weren't too sweet and the tiramisu is perhaps one of the better ones I've had in recent years.

Yelp
Grazie di cuore a Francesca per l'ottimo servizio fornito! Grazie a Heather per gli ottimi drink! Many thanks to Francesca for providing great service! Thanks to Heather for some great drinks! I'll definitely bring my business here!

Yelp
The food was delicious however I ordered the seafood penne pasta dinner and I counted 4 shrimp only. For the price I was expecting at least 6-8. I understand everything continues to go up but I seem to have been penny and dimed. Calamari was a bit soggy I think due to travel. Brussel sprouts delish, brasato and linguine delicious too... hopefully next time I see a better amount... though we see what I order next.

Yelp
Went for Valentine's Day dinner. Two people for $150. Had a spinach salad that had nice flavor. The leaves were too large to eat without trying to cut them to size. For the entree had the steak. It was a little tough and came covered in Gorgonzola cheese, (blue cheese), sauce on top of mashed potatoes. I wasn't a fan of the blue cheese flavor and had to scrape potatoes to side in order to be able to cut the steak without it sliding around. I ordered bread for an extra price, which was removed before I was finished with it. The meal came with dessert to share, which was chocolate cake and berries on the side. When you bit into the cake, liquid squished out with every bite. I believe it was some sort of fruit syrup. Didn't enjoy the squishiness. Overall, I don't think it was worth the price and probably wouldn't go back.

Yelp
The linguine with seafood was spot on. Great flavor and pasta cooked perfectly and it came out piping hot (thank you). The ravioli with butternut squash was okay, and we enjoyed the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. We made a reservation and were sat in the corner table right by the entrance wall, it was really tight with a large party nearby. Service was good though and attentive, we appreciated that. So glad we made a reservation since the restaurant was packed and the bar was full and people were waiting outside. The tiramisu we ordered was also a big portion and delicious. This is a local fan favorite and parking is easy in the plaza. They have outdoor seating too but it was a bit chilly so not many people were sitting outside for dinner.

Yelp
We were seated within a couple of minutes of arrival. We sat on the covered patio and it was quite pleasant. The serving staff were busy but they had this down. Food took a while to come out as I ordered risotto and it was an 8.5 out of 10. Just ever so slightly too Al dente but man, it was good. My Dining partner had the Tortalone and all they could do was praise the food; it had Homade pasta, a yummy sauce and was a delight. $98 for two with no cocktails ain't cheap, but the food is very delicious and it was a delight. It is a smallish place so reservations are needed at least on the weekends.

Yelp
Just come but make a reservation! We have come here for 20 years and hav never been disappointed! Chef Franco the owner is always there making sure everything is great and greeting everyone! We love him! Food is so good! The appetizers are amazing and should be shared. The bread and seasoned dipping oil is so well seasoned! I could eat just that! My overall favorite is the calamari and shrimp frito with the garlic cream sauce and the spicy marinara. Ask for both you will not be disappointed. I usually get it without the artichokes. You will want to lick the containers I kid you not! Salads are amazing. Great textures and perfectly dressed. One of the only places we actually rave about the salads. All dishes are so good. We haven't had a bad dish and we go often and take new people with us! Located in a strip mall but plenty of parking. Don't let the location fool you it is fine dining with a large wine selection.

Yelp
Bestie made reservations for four of us for Restaurant Week. It was a full house on a Friday night. There is plenty of parking in the lot. The tables are pretty close together and it can get loud. The four of us all tried different dishes for each course and we all loved our meal. Our server Filippo was wonderful. We would definitely come back.

Yelp
08/15/24 - The staff was very nice and friendly. We had Moises taking care of us throughout dinner and Ivan taking care of our order. they were both great and very attentive. We ordered the following: Appetizers: Crispy Brussel Sprouts - nicely flavored. It was overpowering with balsamic and perfectly crisp. Octopus Salad - this was a special item, octopus was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all and good flavor. Entrees: carbonara, penne and linguine. I had the linguine and it came with seafood. My dish was wonderful. it came with calamari and that was perfectly cooked. My friends enjoyed their dishes too. Their menu is simple but balanced. I highly recommend this place. Good amount of parking. The restaurant is nicely decorated with italian decor and not tight and crowded inside. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Back in the day, Antica would be a routine stop. The service is super friendly and surprisingly fast considering how good the food. I highly recommend their Chef's special where you get a bottle of house wine, two salads, two entrees and a dessert for just over $100. The ambiance is lovely with a family/romantic vibe and there is plenty of parking available. Antica Trarttoria is most definitely one of my favorite Italian spots in the San Diego region!

Yelp
We celebrated a family birthday here this past Tuesday and everything was wonderful! Service: 5/5, our server was prompt, kind, and funny! He was sure to inform us of the daily specials as well. Ambiance: cozy, casual, well decorated Food: Authentic and delicious. The short rib truffle cream ravioli was one of the daily specials and it was so rich and flavorful. We loved the arugula salad. The butternut squash ravioli was another stand out as well as the penne dish. The only thing I thought could have been better was the table bread. I will happily be returning to this spot.

Yelp
We went here several weeks ago and had an absolutely spectacular meal! The Arancini were crispy and delicious, Veal Parm was delectable, Spumoni was on point! Bravo!

Yelp
Delicious food coupled with amazing service! I'm a bit wary when places have so many great reviews. Can they all be true? I am happy to say Antica Trattoria lived up to the hype and more! The food was delicious ! I got the lasagna and I think it's the best I've ever had. The perfect blend of flavors without being too cheesy. My husband got the seafood linguini, and our friends got the tortellini and the capellini. Everyone enjoyed their food and finished every last bite . The service was phenomenal! Super professional and attentive but giving us space and time. Heather was our server and she was an absolute gem. The guy giving us water was also super nice - didn't catch his name but he had a cool earring. When we left they waved to us like friends. Their warmth and kindness definitely added to the dinner experience. Cute and homey decor with amazing food and service. Perfect for a date night or intimate hangout amongst friends. I highly recommend this place and would definitely take some other friends here :)

Yelp
Made a reservation for four on a Friday evening and thank goodness I did because tables were filled up. Sat right away, service friendly and attentive. Food came a good pace. Good selection of mixed cocktails and wine selections. Had the lamb shank and came w/risotto. It was so delicious. It was a huge portion and actually tasted even better the next day. Had a taste of the cioppino. Very delicious.

Yelp
I just came here for dinner to celebrate my anniversary. The server was so rude. I have been here many time and never has this experience before. Wasn't crowded, he was just over the top rude. Very disappointed. Levi Derek was his name

Yelp
Good food, absolutely TERRIBLE service. I used to love this place but this was the last time. I had a reservation at 7pm. When we arrived right at 7, the hostess (dressed super sloppy like a teen going to a skate park) asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar, because she had no room for us. There were several 4-tops inside available, but why wasn't a 2-top reserved for us inside? Why weren't we allowed to sit at a table inside WITH a reservation? She then looked around and asked us if we were willing to sit on the patio. We should have left right there but I said ok. We were then completely ignored by the wait staff for at least 30 minutes. The bussers are on point, delivering silverware, and water quickly and just generally paying attention. The servers were f***ing awful. I still don't know who our server was supposed to be. I think it was the woman who popped up (never said her name, but she had a long brunette bob) blaming another guy for not serving us. The table next to us was complaining, asking where "the girl" was who had served them initially so my guess is she just shit the bed and was trying to recover. Oh! I had also tracked down a busser for a glass of wine after I sat there for like 25 minutes with zero service. The dude came back over a while later, saying "she still didn't bring it over? I told her, pinot, pinot, one pinot!") When she did finally come over, she took our entire order but acted like it wasn't her job to do so and was helping us out? She then brought me a pinot noir when I had asked for a Grigio. I am no screaming inside. I had a hard day at work, thought I'd come to restaurant week and have a nice meal with my wife, but I could have gone to the grocery store, bought wine, driven home, and poured myself a glass in the time it took to get a damn glass of wine in this place. The food itself was pretty good! My mussels were fantastic (the broth was SO GOOD!!), everything else was good but nothing to write home about. It was really colored by the slow, abysmal service. When our mains came, I asked for another glass of wine. It never arrived. At all. When she came to ask about dessert, she realized we had never gotten it and she blamed the bartender this time, saying that as people leave the restaurant he leaves and wanders around too. IT'S WINE. Only one guy can pour liquid in a glass? Besides that, even if a bartender poured it or was late, it's the server's job to bring it, not the bartender! It was just a fucking joke of terrible service. She also kept calling us "my lovelies," which was really distasteful and felt gross and placating after the horrible service. What would have been lovely is if she had comped at least the one glass I basically didn't get. Oh! And I saw an employee hit his fucking vape pen out front before serving a dish to someone. Smoke breaks happen in the back away from customer eyes, bro. Just sloppy, awful, unprofessional service. I don't know what happened but clearly the boss is away or something. It's so poorly run now. I'm so disappointed because I used to love this restaurant.

Yelp
10/10 first experience here! We just live nearby & cannot believe we havent eaten here until tonight. We will definitely be back. We came for SD Restaurant Week tonight & ordered the burrata, meatball app, the brasato short rib & salmon plates for dinner, & the tiramisu & almond lemon cake for dessert. Everything was fresh & tasted amazing. The Brasato short rib barely had any fat, i loved that. The combo of almond crust on a lemon cake was delicious. The service was very attentive & quick! Parking was easy since its in a shopping center. Thank you to the chef & staff at Antica!
google avatar

Meralina M.

Yelp
The service here was great the staff is amazing. There is ample parking in the parking lot. The gnocchi was out of this world, the sauce was amazing and the gnocchi were perfectly pillowy. My friend got the penne with cream sauce and said it was really great, basic, but great! I got the Marsala with pollo. I think the Marsala sauce was too watery and overall it just lacked flavor. I also wish the menu had said whether it was served with mashed potatoes or some type of pasta. Unfortunately our complimentary bread was definitely under baked it was a bit raw in the middle still. But we all agreed we would still go back because the staff was so nice and some of the dishes are truly great! And they made one of the best lemon drops I've ever had!

Yelp
Food was good, but the service was lacking. Poor server was by himself doing everything and restaurant was packed The bartender did come out to help

Yelp
Came for restaurant week but will be back! Not sure if it's always packed or if it was busier because of restaurant week; luckily we made a reservation. I wish I remembered our servers name because she was great. She was calm, welcoming and attentive through the chaos. The drinks were good, the arancini and tortelloni was really good and the Torta alle Mandorle con Crema was really really good. I was so focused on digging in, I forgot to take photos. There are a lot of dishes on the menu that I need to go back and try.

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant located in La Mesa. I had the honor of trying them for my first time on Valentine's Day where they offered a prix fixe menu. We started off with a drink while we waited for our table and the bartenders were a joy! We sipped on their watermelon mojitos that were delicious! From the moment we were sat, the service was incredible. The indoor and outdoor area was full and yet we still felt very attended for. For appetizers we ordered the bruschetta and crab cake. Please do not miss out on their bruschetta if you are a lover of sweet and savory! The Gorgonzola and strawberry chutney paired so well together. Now for the entrees, we ordered the branzino and the brasato For the branzino, the citrus SAUCE was everything. The plate came with mashed potatoes which really allowed the sea bass to shine. Would absolutely order again Now the brasato was one of the best short rib I've ever had. The meat was tender and just melted in your mouth. We couldn't stop raving about this plate I'm so impressed with not only their food but their incredible service. A must try in San Diego

Yelp
A friend introduced us to Antica Trattoria and we enjoyed the food so much we brought my mother-in-law last weekend. It is a cute restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Be aware when sitting inside, it gets very loud. We started with the Bruschetta for the table and my husband and I split the Insalata Cesare. I do not recommend splitting the salad, to be frank it was a joke. We each got a big bowl with like three bites of romaine lettuce. My MIL and I each had our own Penne which had Italian sausage, brussel sprouts, EVOO, garlic, & tomato confit. SO GOOD! My son had Lasagna and it also was very good. You could taste that it was fresh and not reheated stuff. My husband had the Sea Bass special; I don't typically eat or like fish but this was super yummy. It had a great flavor on the outside and wasn't too fishy. The service was good. They had a waiter and backer; our water cups were never empty. For dessert, my son and I split the chocolate lava cake. 10 out of 10 would recommend! We'll be back....but will try the outside seating.

Yelp
I loved my experience at Antica Trattoria! From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and sat at a beautiful table. Our server (I believe her name was Heather) was informative, kind, and very attentive!! The service was outstanding from everyone! I'm also so grateful I was able to order off menu as I was really craving some meatballs. They were absolutely delicious. Every dish my partner and I had were amazing. You definitely have to get the mussels and Brussels sprouts to start off. The pasta was incredible, like the best I've ever had. I can't wait to visit again.

Maria C.

Yelp
Wonderful authentic food and always consistent. We had Nero pasta, lasagna and another great pasta dish. The arancini were fantastic for an appetizer. Francisca is a terrific waitress.

Yelp
THE ABSOLUTE BEST ITALIAN FOOD! AUTHENTIC? OH YES! The freshest and most flavorful dishes I've experienced since visiting Italy. The owner designs the menu and everything is made to absolute perfection! There's a reason this place is packed every night. COCKTAILS, GALORE! Awesome cocktails and craft beers - I attached a picture of the drink menu! THE VIBE SO nice! First date, anniversary, dinner with friends. This place is perfect for all of it. Not stuffy at all - fun vibe. Servers are knowledgeable and quick! GET IN THERE!

Yelp
I came here for restaurant week. I'm giving a 4 instead of 3 because I'm factoring in what my boyfriend ordered also. The bread with dipping sauce was excellent. For the appetizer round, I had the mussels and he ordered the burrata. The broth was excellent especially with the bread. The mussels were fine, but nothing special. The burrata with tomatoes and sauce was delicious. I had the carbonara and he ordered the short ribs. I found the carbonara to be good, but a little salty. The short ribs were good, but he found them a little dry. For dessert, I had the lemon almond cake and he had the tiramisu. We both enjoyed our desserts. We did the wine pairing for 20 dollars each. Our dessert wine pairing was disappointing, but we liked the other rounds. Overall, it was fun to try, but I don't know that I'll come back. The servers were attentive. It was pretty loud in the restaurant as others have mentioned on Yelp.

Yelp
I made reservations for my girlfriend and myself for Valentines Day about two weeks ahead of time. Two days before our reservation the restaurant called to confirm with no mention of anything else. When we showed up the sprung a limited menu on us that was not disclosed. It was $75 per person just for a three course dinner. At first I was not worried and thought this might be interesting, once I read the menu nothing sounded good. The problem is that on Valentines Day you have to have reservations to get into anywhere. We asked if there was any other options other than the limited menu and we were told that there was not. At this point we were face with an ultimatum, to leave and not be able to eat dinner anywhere or pay $75 per person for food we didn't want. We decided to leave. This is should not have been a big deal but they decided to report to open table that we did not show up for our reservation. I have heard good things about this restaurant but I don't think I will ever give them another chance. If you want to have a limited menu then you should disclose that to your guests especially on a day when it is not easy to find a place to eat last minute.

Yelp
Great Italian neighborhood restaurant with delicious food, great wine selection. Can be busy. Expensive.

Yelp
This place is delicious! My husband and I went in for a low key date night and were blown away. The bread was fresh and warm served with olive oil and balsamic. We ordered the calamari which was served with a yummy spicy marinara. Then had the Stinco D´Agnello and the Brasato with a glass of Pinot noir and the spicy Mexican. Our food was so delicious. The lamb shank was melt in your mouth and paired perfectly with the risotto and my Pinot. The Brasato tasted of rosemary and love. We would highly recommend this place. Next time we have to try their pasta!

Yelp
Wonderful. Definitely returning for the lasagne and the spinach risotto with salmon. Both were incredible! My only minor quibble was that the gnocchi was a tad dense but that's pretty much it!

Yelp
I used to love this place but the food was under seasoned and the prices are high. The interior is still lovely and the service good. I ordered the short rib which i've had here before and it was so boring and mushy. Very disappointing. The arugula salad and the artichokes were both fine.

Yelp
It's San Diego Restaurant Week 2023, so I took advantage of the occasion and hosted a dinner for my Meetup's Fun Diego Ladies group. The ladies gave their approval of this fine selection. All 6 of us ordered from the prix-fix menu. I had the mussels as my appetizer selection. The mussels were very flavorful and the broth very savory, but this dish was missing some toasted bread. It's a shame, because the broth was so good. I used some of the complimentary bread, but some toasted sourdough would have enhanced the experience. For my main course, I chose the Northern Halibut, which consisted of artichoke heart, saffron citrus cream sauce, and parmigiano reggiano risotto. The dish was delicious, but lacked color. Everything was cream in color. I asked for some chili flakes to add some contrast to it, but it was missing something green. A few pieces of asparagus or basil would have been a nice touch. While the dish wasn't pretty, it was good. The halibut was juicy and the risotto was beautifully cooked. The saffron citrus cream sauce was interesting in flavor. It took a few bites for the flavor to grow on me. I didn't love it, but didn't necessarily hate it either. For dessert, I opted for the berry pannacotta. This dessert was beautifully presented and was a delightful treat. The pannacotta was smooth and silky, and literally melted in my mouth. The berry sauce was the perfect complement to this light dessert! Our waitress Alessandra provided wonderful service and made excellent recommendations. We had such a lovely evening! The restaurant is located in a plaza, so parking wasn't a problem at all.

Yelp
Probably the best lasagna I've ever had in my life. Beautiful little spot with a good atmosphere, classy but not snooty. Will definitely the back soon!

Yelp
Antica Trattoria looks like a nice charming cafe and it has some niceties. The waitress was very polite and helpful. We got the following: The Arancini which had a decent crispy outer coating with a mushy interior of mushrooms, mozzarella, etc. The creamy tomato soup was not creamy but watery (disappointing) and the flavor was lacking with no hint of basil. The Butternut Squash Ravioli wasn't bad but I've had much better. It was so odd to see a pink stuffing and not know what ingredients caused it. The amaretto crumble was a decent touch. The Parmigiana di Melenzane was, well, uneventful What made the entire dinner worse was that a blower was turned on which seemed to only effect our table. The waiter said she talked to the manager but they never turned the blower off , which is disrespectful. Suffice to say, this place ranks very low and I'll never return.

Wow, just wow. You have to give this restaurant a try!! What a gem in La Mesa. Italian food is one of my favorite types of food and my bar is high. This is probably one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to (outside of Italy of course ;)). The interior is gorgeous, incredible ambiance. So much character, passion, and thought went into the decor. The service was also incredible. From being greeted to our waiter to even the staff that refills water and would constantly check in on us to see if we needed extra bread or Parmesan. Probably some of the most attentive staff I've been around. Lastly and most importantly the FOOOD. Yummmm!! We've been here twice in 3 weeks. The butternut squash ravioli is delicious. Not something I would typically order either. The meatballs were incredible, flavorful and moist. I've also had the penne, so much yummy, creamy flavor. My husband has gotten the chicken parm which he loved and also the chicken Marsala which I'd say he liked. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes on the menu!! PS wine list is great and sangria is delish!

Yelp
We were very excited to be able to get a table at this bustling restaurant. It's in a very unassuming location within a casual stop mall closes to a vons. But walk in and be transported to a nice friendly neighborhoody restaurant/bar. Brought my parents for a nice night out. The restaurant was accommodating, turning down the music and finding a table for us (made a reservation from their website on open table that didn't take for some reason). Love the interior although it can be hard to hear each other. Waitress was friendly however overall attention to detail was slightly off (ie no refill on ice tea or bread in basket). Lasagna was good. It was a surprisingly lighter lasagna than standard American fare making it much easier to enjoy its ingredients. Eggplant was also yummy. Again, unlike American version as it wasn't oily or overly breaded. Great for a vegetarian! But what really won the night was the finishing touch, which we had at home, a cannoli! Large enough for two!

Yelp
Please save your receipts! I just had to dispute a fraudulent charge from this place with my credit card company. Little do they know I take photos of all my receipts and submitted the proof to my bank. The restaurant staff decided to give themselves an additional tip on my credit card after I ate here on 11/12/24. I'm never returning here again. The owner of this place needs to watch their cameras. Assuming they are not encouraging the fraud. Roberto was our server.

Yelp
Antica Trattoria was a San Diego restaurant week participant and there was a great variety on the three course menu. I ordered the meatball appetizer (very flavorful), the Seafood Linguine Entree (not enough clams and too much pasta) and original tiramisu for dessert! Service was good but a bit slow and forgetful. Had a great time with friends but bring a light sweater, sitting on the patio in Fall weather can be chilly.

Yelp
We were thrilled with our meal and server (Ivan). I had the pecan-crusted salmon over risotto and every bite was delishious. My husband had the clam linguine and he agreed, it was terrific. We've gone to another Italian place for years, but it changed owners, so we are very happy to find Antica. Ivan wa so friendly and helpful and joyful. It was just a great evening. My only suggestion would be to play Italian music.

Yelp
Great local Italian place with a vast menu. Servers were nice and they were accommodating to request for meals. I got seafood and it all tasted fresh, did not need sauce to cover any fishy flavour. Will definitely return here when I am craving Italian or as a place to take family. Here over little Italy!

Yelp
Antica is a place where you're automatically treated like a home guest. The host was so sweet and made sure my daughter, bf and I's needs were met. We initially sat inside but my 10month old was very tired and began to scream (which is so stressful for me) but instead of giving us dirty looks the waitress and host made sure to accommodate us and allowed us to sit outside under the warmth of the heater. I REALLY appreciate this gesture. And to top it off the food was amazing! We began with the Polpettine (meatballs and savory tomato sauce), then my bf had the Pappardelle while I had Lasagna. The Meat was well seasoned and the sauces were just deliciousss! I'd just like to thank Aurora and Ivan! (I called the restaurant for their names because the service was just THAT GOOD). You both rock and we thank you

Polpettine$17.00 Braised Nonna's meatballs + San Marzano tomato sauce + Mediterranean olives + whipped ricotta; was the best bowl of deliciousness that I've ever had!! I couldn't stop eating it, and with each bite the huge party in my mouth it delivered was incredible. Vino? Fabulous Cab house.... You will never be disappointed eating here.

Yelp
Dropped by an 1/2 hour before closing on a weekday and was graciously served a fantastic meal. We all ordered the same seafood pasta and requested them spicy. It was one of the best seafood pastas. Full of mussels, calamari, clams, shrimp. Service was great too. Highly recommend
