Upscale rooftop bar at the Arlo SoHo hotel offering cocktails, wines and craft beers, plus city views.
"What It Is: A bar on top of a hotel in Soho Perfect For: Wasting Your Time And Money Last summer, the rooftop at the Arlo Soho was a beach-themed place called Harold’s Surf Shack, and it was one of our favorite spots for a low-key drink outside. Now, however, it’s called Arlo Roof Top - and it’s unfortunately become more of a typical club. The lawn flamingos and kiddie pools are no longer on the outdoor terrace, and, on our latest visit, there was a line to get in despite the fact that the place was half-empty. Also, the music was bad. The Verdict: There are other rooftop bars where you can and should be drinking downtown." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg, chris stang, matt tervooren
"The Soho location of Arlo Roof Top (or A.R.T. for short) has string lights, graffiti art, and a pretty nice view of the Hudson River. The patio here is huge, and, while it has become a little busier in recent years, this place isn't too tough to get into. So if you want to sip a frozen drink and listen to loud electronic music without having to wait in a line at the door, this is a great option. A.R.T. Soho takes walk-ins, but you can also book a table online—and we suggest you go that route." - bryan kim, neha talreja, kenny yang, molly fitzpatrick
"Just in time for summer, the Arlo SoHo hotel debuts their new rooftop bar boasting panoramic views of the Hudson. Guests can expect fare from the hotel's Harold's Meat + Three and cocktails by Milos Zica. The hotel has launched Camp Arlo in the courtyard, featuring two large tents for summer fun, as well as giant Jenga and corn hole. Food and drink is also on offer at Camp Arlo, including daily hot dog specials named after national parks." - Marguerite Imbert
"Just in time for summer, the Arlo SoHo hotel debuts their new rooftop bar boasting panoramic views of the Hudson. A new concept for the property, guests can expect fare from the hotel's Harold's Meat + Three and cocktails by Milos Zica (Employees Only). For those looking to glamp, the hotel has launched Camp Arlo in the courtyard, featuring two large tents for summer fun, as well as giant Jenga and corn hole. Food and drink is also on offer at Camp Arlo; look for daily hot dog specials named after a different national park, like the aptly-named Yellow Stone dog topped with sauerkraut and spicy mustard." - Marguerite Imbert
"After a brief bout of renovations, Soho’s Arlo Hotel has reopened its rooftop as Arlo Roof Top — with a new menu from the chef at the downstairs restaurant, Harold Moore and cocktails from an Employees Only bartender. The roof space was previously called the Good Story and once housed Moore’s “surf shack” pop-up, but the hotel flipped its decor and name, switching to the nickname A.R.T. and declaring the change permanent. It now fits 180 people inside and outside, and it has more of a lounge vibe, featuring outdoor chairs, hanging lights, and a mural that nods to the former name, saying “every night should end with a good story”. Moore, who previously worked at Daniel Boulud and Jean-George Vongerichten restaurants and made his name at the now-shuttered Commerce, put together the new food menu. He’s also in charge of the hotel’s ground floor restaurant, Harold’s Meat + Three. Snacks like guacamole and chips, wings, and a mezze platter with naan are on deck, as are more filling options like flatbreads, a burger, and a hot chicken sandwich. Meanwhile, drinks come from bartender Milos Zica of cocktail favorite Employees Only. Cocktails all cost $18 and include a spritz with St. Germain elderflower liqueur, orange bitters, prosecco, and soda, alongside some limited wine and beer options." - Serena Dai
