"At Artion, a bright, shiny bakery in Astoria, you’ll find textbook perfect renditions of the Greek bakery classics, like galaktoboureko, koufeta, and every kind of baklava—but there’s also Biscoff cheesecake and little mousse cakes shaped like porcupines. These pastries taste better than they look, which is saying something. If you want to go all-in, get some savory things, like their ultra-flaky spinach pie. There are a few small tables, and they also serve Greek coffee drinks." - willa moore, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah
"A Mediterranean bakery in Astoria filled with white tiles, blonde wood accents, and cake stands brimming with just-baked goods; standout items include a stew-like spinach pie stuffed with leeks and cheese, flaky cheese-filled spirals (eliopita), tomato-stuffed koulouri, and foam-topped frappes and freddos—customers are invited to grab cookies and brittle from glass cases with provided gloves for snacks to carry through the day." - ByCaroline Shin
"At Artion, a bright shiny bakery in Astoria, you’ll find textbook perfect renditions of all the Greek bakery classics, like galaktoboureko, touloumbes, and every kind of baklava—but there’s also Biscoff cheesecake and little mousse cakes shaped like porcupines. These pastries taste even better than they look, which is saying something. If you want to go all-in, get some savory things, like their ultra-flaky spinach pie, too. There are a few small tables inside the cafe, and they also serve Greek coffee drinks. It’s a great place for a catch-up with a friend, or to stock up on things to bring to someone’s house." - Carina Finn
"Regina Katopodis and her team put out at least 100 different items in Astoria, from Greek breads — like a hearty semolina loaf, cheese-filled rolls, braided tsourekia and almond-topped vasilopita — to a buffet of sweet cakes and cookies, including spiced melomakarona, buttery kourabiedes, rolled kataifi, and can’t-miss diples, ribbons of fried dough soaked in a sugar syrup. Baklava comes in every contortion imaginable. Katopodis and her co-owners also run Pi Bakerie in Soho, where a pared-down menu of Greek savories and sweets is on offer alongside an extensive coffee menu. Sister bakery in Soho Pi Bakerie is also open." - Daniela Galarza, Eater Staff
"Located in a strip mall near the last Queens stop on the N and W, Artopolis is the city’s most distinguished Greek bakery. Sure, there are sweet cookies, filo pastries, and holiday breads, but there are plenty of savory snacks, too. One of the tastiest is the potato pie ($3.50): two conjoined cylinders of crisp filo wrapped around an herbed and pureed potato filling. Eat it at room temperature, or the counter attendant will be glad to warm it for you." - Eater Staff
