NYC New Restaurant Openings, August 2025 | Eater NY

"A modern Georgian restaurant with reinvented classics like house-made khinkali with squid ink dough and crab filling, and khachapuri boats topped with pear and gorgonzola, plus natural wines and inventive desserts; its Georgian owner, Giorgi Papiashvili, is also a partner at Manhattan’s espresso-and-wine bar Sipsteria." - Nadia Chaudhury

Askili Orchard - Review - Greenwich Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Askili Orchard is a Georgian restaurant in Greenwich Village, and it's from one of the co-owners of Georgian wine bar Sipsteria. Here, familiar dishes like khinkali, or ingredients like smoked yogurt and fermented fruit, are tweaked and twisted with things like pistachio and passionfruit. There's even crab khinkali wrapped in dough that's colored black with squid ink. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

Askili Orchard Offers Modern Georgian Cooking in NYC

"When I visited Askili Orchard on Sixth Avenue soon after it opened, I found a spacious wood-and-leather dining room with a central 12-seat table and a rose-hip tapestry opposite the open kitchen; chef Maya Toria uses fruit as an undercurrent throughout the menu—kiwi in a green salad, a fig-mango salad with ginger dressing that transitions to mains, and rolls shaped like rose hips served with strawberry butter—and she reimagines condiments (peach-forward adjika made creamy with walnuts) and classic Georgian dishes (a minted balloon of inflated mozzarella that's popped tableside in a take on gebzhalia). Her signature crab-filled khinkali arrive wrapped in squid-ink dough topped with salmon roe and served with passion-fruit sauce, and her khachapuri work includes a delicate imeruli with an apple-tomato condiment and a popular gluten-free khachapuri dough; she soaks proteins in Borjomi, ferments and pickles in-house, makes tomato concentrate from scratch, offers about 55 sauces, and even opens at 11 a.m., when I recommend the chicken kespé with homemade egg noodles and a warm roll." - Tammie Teclemariam

Google
Artfully designed Georgian food in modern ambiance. Had a good time here with friends. I wasn’t particularly impressed with any of the dishes, as they tended to look much better than they tasted. Everything was mostly good enough, with the appetizers being better than the entrees. The staff were excellent though, and the atmosphere is beautiful and new. It’s a really nice place to grab a few starters and some wine. Worth a try if you want something unique and different.

Truly an amazing overall experience. Chef Maya is a visionary. Her modern infusion into traditional Georgian cuisine is hitting all the marks. Definitely will be recommending all my friends and family to dine here. As a Georgian, this restaurant impresses beyond expectations

Google
A unique experience and delicious dishes! I had never been to a Georgian restaurant before, but will definitely have to be back! Service with Saba was great and he took such good care of us. Lots of gluten free offerings and some unique dishes for sure! Only call out was that both me and my friend are gluten free and the stew that came out had non- gluten free bread on it but Saba caught it and made sure we didn't eat it. Drinks were great as well. Service was excellent- we will definitely be back! I wish I had gotten a photo of the cheese mint sphere because that was wild!

I was torn between a 3 and 4 but I might not love Georgian food enough in general to be a good judge. This spot is cute for a date night or dinner with friends. Our table was sort of in between the front and back seating so it felt like people were constantly walking back and forth between us. I’d recommend sitting at the bar or the back room. We had the veal stew kharcho and khachapuri. They were fine. The khachapuri was saltier than I’ve had before but flavors were well balanced. The staff were very responsive and knowledgeable.

Google
A potentially excellent spot — it’s brand new, the service is wonderful, and they have a truly great bartender. The food is fascinating: a creative twist on Georgian cuisine. It’s interesting that while Georgian restaurants have become more common in the city, the team here decided to explore a new angle, even though many New Yorkers aren’t yet fully familiar with the traditional Georgian cuisine. I tried the Imeruli with pear and blue cheese — absolutely stunning. The crab khinkali could use a bit of fine-tuning, as the sauce pairing didn’t feel quite right. A creamy sauce would likely work better than passion fruit. The shrimp in pistachio satsivi was a fun and surprising combination. Overall, I believe in this restaurant’s future. I’m giving it the highest rating and will definitely be coming back. Best of luck to the team!

This is my first trying Georgian food and it was delicious! Service here is excellent, their Georgian wine is so good too. Beautiful setting and atmosphere and every bite was so good.

Askili Orchard is a true gem that recently appeared on the New York dining scene. This is not just another Georgian restaurant it’s a place that reinvents the classic flavors of Georgian gastronomy with elegance and innovation. The menu offers a wide range of traditional dishes, but each one comes with a refined, modern twist. From beautifully plated starters and fresh salads to hand-rolled khinkali and perfectly baked bread, every plate feels like a balance between authenticity and creativity. The presentation is exquisite, and the flavors are bold yet harmonious you can taste the respect for tradition while enjoying the sophistication of fine dining. The atmosphere of the restaurant is another highlight: stylish, warm, and welcoming, with a modern bar that perfectly complements the dining experience. It’s the kind of place you can enjoy for both a casual evening and a special occasion. As a Georgian, I couldn’t be more proud to see our cuisine represented at such a high level. Askili Orchard sets a new standard, and I believe it will soon become one of the city’s most talked-about culinary destinations.

Askili Orchard is truly a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and welcoming without ever being overbearing. The atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, making it the perfect spot for a memorable meal. The food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic flavor. The highlight of the night was definitely the khinkali—juicy, perfectly seasoned, and easily the best I’ve ever had. Each bite was pure comfort and tradition done right. If you’re looking for a place that combines outstanding hospitality with unforgettable cuisine, Askili Orchard is it

Yelp
Absolute gem in the village. Brilliant cocktails, pristinely mixed. Beautiful atmosphere---modern yet a comfy feeling. And the service is notably top notch. Looking forward to this being a regular spot for us. Just delightful

Yelp
What an innovative twist the owner has created to present Georgian food to match the fast-paced track of New Yorkers! One will not be disappointed with anything that is served there. The Georgian vegetable spread leaves a memorable taste in the mouth that lasts well after one finishes it. The Georgian Mukado wine will, I believe, be a fan favorite and a regular repeat. Great service and a fine ambience make this establishment a much-needed welcome. Josef F.

Yelp
Food was good. Portions were not big, especially for the price. Also the dips were good but it only came with two small pieces of bread for 4 large scoops of dip. I'd try it again but still some things that could be improved.

Yelp
We came here for brunch on a Saturday morning and our experience from start to finish was top notch. We couldn't get over how friendly everyone was--from the hostess, to our server, to the bartender, etc. We immediately felt so welcome and were excited for a nice meal. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and we loved their choice of peaceful background music. It's nice to enjoy a brunch and not have loud bass blasting in your ears. And now most importantly...the food! We have had Georgian food in a couple of spots throughout the city and we solidly agree that this has been the best. We shared their dip assortment (GET THEM), the squid ink and crab dumplings and one of their special breads with strawberry butter. Everything tasted as beautiful as it was presented. Our cocktails were also mind blowing. Looking forward to coming back here. They are a very welcome addition to the city and we hope they do very well.
