The 38 Best Restaurants in Dublin, Ireland | Eater

"The good news is that Gwen McGrath and Ken Doherty now take bookings for the two lunch sittings at their 10-seater restaurant. The menu, penned on a white paper sandwich bag, is driven by two things: whatever organic produce is available that day from McNally Family Farm, and a heartfelt adherence to simplicity. Most of the plates are vegetarian, like crushed fava beans with chicory, but there are always one or two meat dishes. Must-try dish: Hope for the tripe, which is a signature dish." - Corinna Hardgrave

Completely fantastic. Simple, unassuming dishes with intense flavours. Get one of everything (if you can)! Arrive as early as you can, as there are only 10 seats in the place, and they fill up quickly. Assassination Custard is an absolute experience - one everyone should try at least once!

The term hidden gem gets thrown around a lot but this is the biggest hidden, in fact extra hidden gem I've come across in Dublin. I first thought I was in the wrong place as I opened the door with newspapers covering up the window. The variety of dishes reminded me of the famous Trastevere restaurant district in Rome; Italian dishes mixed with Middle Eastern. The menu seems to change daily and is scribled on a piece of paper which the chef explains to you. It's 3x dishes per person and we tried 7x which were all bursting with flavour and originality. Sweet, savoury, oily, salty, spicy for a full umami experience. Will definitely be back to try more of these creative and unorthodox combinations.

Delicious, excellent, considered ingredients and friendly crew. The cherry pie transported me back fifty years. Feel good food.

Careful with this one. You'll likely consume a dish that a few days later you'll really yearn to have again. Mussels with fried sage was it for me. Wow. Only 9 seats so queue up early or be disappointed.

The flavours are literally vaulting off the small plates and exploding over your taste buds. Fabulous fabulous food and very attentive and friendly service from two hard working culinary wizards. Aim to get there a while before the noon opening to stand a chance to get on a table. .

A real hidden gem cafe in the south of Dublin. Completely unassuming but fabulous food and despite featuring on TV and in papers hasn’t let stardom go to its head. There are only ten seats over two tables and you can’t book - so it’s pot luck if you will be able to get in - and you will almost certainly end up sharing a table. Which all adds to the interest of the experience. It’s not cheap (lunch was €90 for six courses plus two deserts and coffee for two) but worth every cent. Highly recommended.

Had the weirdest experience where despite waiting in line, owner gave us a lecture about showing up with 6 people. We offered to split up and then he said we “stressed them out.” Then went on for another several minutes about how they couldn’t accommodate dietary restrictions. Weirdest passive aggressive messaging of “you can’t eat here” while also explicitly saying “don’t leave” every time we offered to. Most of our group ended up walking away and the two who stayed had a good experience. TLDR: if you’re a tourist don’t show up in groups of more than 2 or draw attention to yourself in line in anyway and you’ll be fine.

Really great - simple, well composed, delicious dishes. The entrance would be easy to miss, hidden away on a side street, and it’s a very understated setting. But the cooking here is brilliant and there’s a lovely laidback atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and service is warm without being overbearing.
