Google
First time trying this spot and it’s pretty good! We got the recommended numbing spice soup with fish and beef. The beef and fish are super tender and not overcooked. Definitely recommend getting the Chinese donut to dip it in the soup. We also ordered the crispy pork belly and chicken with chili sauce. Not once dish was disappointing. Highly recommend it!

Google
Food was great, if you don’t like sour or spicy numb, I highly recommend the tomato base soup. Adding beef and enoki mushroom made the tomato fish soup really good. Price is good, for 60 bucks you get a good size serving of fish soup with 2 appetizers of your choice and 2 bowl of rice. Server was really friendly, I recommend to try the place out

Google
August 2024 This was our fourth visit to this location. Very good Asian “sauerkraut” fish soup and beef. A great choice for winter comfort food. Very appetizing spicy fish broth with great selection of side dishes. Highly recommend for a little twist on Asian cruise. Fish were thinly slice and the beef was tender with soup. Here’s my rating as 5 is very satisfy. Taste 5/5 Temperature 5/5 Speed of service 4/5 Attentive and courteous 4/5 Cleanliness 4/5. Will I return? Yes Will I recommend? Yes.

Google
We ordered 2 person set menu with tomato non-spicy fish soup. The flavor is really good, the two does dishes is good too. But I forget to take pictures until we are half way finish.

Google
I tried the B2 fish soup, and it was absolutely delicious! The taste was authentic, with tender fish slices and a perfectly balanced sour and spicy broth that was truly appetizing. The side dishes were also great, with a good variety and freshness. At the end of the meal, the restaurant kindly offered milk mochi as a complimentary dessert, which was soft and delicious. Overall, it was a very pleasant dining experience

Google
These Szechuan dishes were unique, tasty, and hot. The dishes were fresh. The restaurant was clean. The music was a bit loud and kids were running around like they were at their home and parents were not managing them. Too bad.

Google
The food was decent, but I had an issue with the payment process that left a bad impression. I was charged a $6 tip on a Self Pickup order, which was an 18% gratuity. After I swiped my card, the staff asked me to " just sign on the iPad and that's it," I quickly followed and signed, but as soon as I hit the submit button, I noticed in the small print above that an 18% tip was automatically selected and needed to be manually removed. I left the store feeling annoyed because I thought it was my fault for not noticing. But the more I thought about it, the more it felt wrong. Why would a restaurant expect the customer to pay an 18% tip for a Pickup order by default? If it’s just a setting on the iPad, they should inform customers instead of asking them to sign quickly. When I shared this experience with my friends, they agreed that it felt more like a tactic to squeeze extra money out of customers.

Google
Very flavorful and numbing. Highly recommend the numbing broth with fish only. All the add ons are great. I personally love the enoki mushrooms and pork meat balls. The fried pork belly and cucumber salad add ons are a must.

Yelp
IYKYK as far as Asian restaurants go, good food and good service are usually negatively correlated. That is NOT the case at B2J - in fact I had some of the best food and service in the DFW area here Do not be fooled by the small, intimate space inside the restaurant because the flavors will transport you to places you've never been. My group of 4 got the combo for 3 (honestly portions are huge, we were so full we didn't even finish it). The highlights were the fried pork belly, the fish & beef with classic spicy broth (ofc) , and the milk mochi dessert! As someone who cries while eating hot cheetos, we asked for the soup to be a little bit less spicy and it was perfect for me (thanks to the recommendation of our server). The soup was so flavorful and filled to the brim with tasty morsels. This is my new go-to spot and I will be telling everyone to check it out! Bonus: they have a rewards system so if you're crazy like me you can get some more bang for your buck

Yelp
B2J Fish Soup offers fresh, high-quality fish at a fair price, making it a great choice for seafood lovers. The soup itself is flavorful and comforting, with generous portions. The location is ideal, nestled within a large plaza, which not only makes it easy to grab a bite but also allows for convenient shopping afterward. The ample parking space is another plus, making it hassle-free to visit. Whether you're stopping by for a quick meal or planning to shop afterward, B2J Fish Soup provides a satisfying and convenient dining experience. Highly recommended for both food and convenience.

Yelp
Feels like they've change kitchen staff or owner. The food is slightly different but still delicious. It's a small location, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Music was pretty loud, but they adjusted once they realized it. Great service, very attentive.

Sarah H.

Yelp
My husband and I frequently eat here and love it! The quality is good, and we like that they offer the different combos. We usually get the combo for 2 and add on a bing fen. We have a heavy taste, especially my husband who is from Chengdu, so we always ask them to add extra spice to their spicy broth. We found that we have to ask for extra spice to get to a similar level to what we were used to having in Sichuan. Their century eggs are some of the best we've had in the area, so we get them every visit. We are slowly working our way through the other sides to find another go-to side. We personally were not a fan of the starch noodles. The takoyaki, while not terrible, didn't really go well with the flavors of the spicy broth. They also didn't have fish flakes the time we ordered. Those are the only two sides we won't order again, but we haven't tried them all yet. The service is usually good. One thing to keep in mind is that the restaurant is TINY. We normally go during off hours, but I imagine you may have to wait during peak times. The ambiance is laid-back.

Matthew C.

Yelp
Seriously exceeded my expectations in all categories. Cozy ambience, fast and friendly service (even though it was busy and only had one waitress) and most of all the food was so good. Actually authentic dishes at a fairly cheap price considering the portion sizes. Plan on visiting regularly.

Yelp
I was initially very excited to try this place but left the place feeling very unsatisfied with our meal. Now, let's start with the good. For the sides/appetizers we got the cucumber salad, chicken with chili sauce, and the house made fried milk custard. All of these were pretty good with the fried milk custard being the saving grace of the night. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and the inside was creamy with some light sweetness to it. The actual fish soup itself on the other hand was not something that I enjoyed. I'm not sure if the quality has gone down or if we just got a bad batch considering all the positive reviews on here but the soup was very fishy and watered down. no spiciness from the chilis, no numbness from the peppercorns, no sourness from the pickled greens; all i really got was just fishiness from bad fish.

Sue N.

Yelp
The fish here is really good.i definitely recommend this place if you like Chinese fish soup.

Jinyoung P.

Yelp
I tried this place with my sisters and brother in law, because my baby sis had been raving about the sauerkraut fish soup. Unfortunately for her, the location near her in the Seattle area has closed, but we still have this location in Plano! I was happy to try this fish soup because I love acidic foods, and I was not let down. I can't wait to come back with my friends!

Daniel F.

Yelp
I've been to Guiyang and had the best sour fish soup there. This is as good as genuine.

Zach H.

Yelp
We have been couple times already. The food quality is amazing. The Fish is so fresh and tastes incredibly good! We will definitely come back again!

Eric D.

Yelp
Thank goodness Plano has a sauerkraut fish place! The fish was so fresh and the soup base was so flavorful. They have two-four people combos that are a STEAL!! The waitstaff was so friendly and recommended a lot of good appetizers.

Clark H.

Yelp
Enjoy the restaurant every single time! Food is great, servers are very friendly, very clean restaurant!

Derek S.

Yelp
Delicious fish and beef soup with chinese sauerkraut. The meats were all very tender and came with huge portions. The ambiance is very casual and clean. Authentic service.

ChihChing L.

Yelp
Came here as soon as it opened, I love it! Good taste highly recommend! Will definitely come back soon!

Adriana G.

Yelp
I've been getting food from this restaurant for over a year and the quality is always top-notch! The owners of B2J Fish Soup are incredibly friendly and always make their customers feel special. I order from here for takeout, delivery, or to dine in with my colleagues. I've tried everything on their menu and it's all amazing. I definitely suggest giving it a visit.

Matthew W.

Yelp
I've never experienced such a wide range of favors - spicy, sweet, sour, and bitter - in a single pot. Everything was delicious and tasty. Don't forget to ask for extra rice, napkins and water! The interior is very comfortable and seems more suited for small families and groups than large parties. I will say that if you're not a fan of unctuous or spicy foods, you probably won't like this place. Every dish has some sort of heat or oil in it. It's also a bit funny that most of their drink menu can be ordered at 99 ranch next door for half the price. Lastly, their combos feed a lot of people (their 3 person combo fed our family of 4 with lots of leftovers), so don't be overzealous and over-order.

Moniece G.

Yelp
I love soup and I love fish and this is one place that definitely check both of those boxes for me! Massive bowls of umami soup await you at this establishment! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with a few small tables to your left when you enter and bench seating and a row of tables to your right. Orders are placed at your table and food is delivered to your table. On the menu you have the option on ordering everything a la carte or one of combos which include appetizers, choices of toppings and rice with the soup. Both times I've visited I ordered the combo due to wanting to dry out some of the appetizers. Both times we ordered the classic spicy sour broth with fish, black fungus and pork meatballs. On our first visit we ordered the spiced chicken with chili sauce and the house made sticky rice cakes as the appetizers. The second visit we ordered the black fungus salad and fried Chinese donut. Out of the four appetizers we liked the black fungus salad the best. It was slightly spicy and had a nice crunch due to the red onions. The donuts were a hit with the boys, but mummy and daddy couldn't eat any. I'm not a big fan of chicken and I thought my boys and hubby would like the chili chicken appetizer, but they didn't like it because it was served cold. The soup was hands down the best sauerkraut Chinese fish soup I've had in the area! It is made fresh and served piping hot. The broth is a bit oily and salty, but that is to be expected with pickled vegetable soups. The fish tasted very fresh and it was very tender and added to the texture of the soup. Overall the soup was delicious, everyone enjoyed it. I requested it to be made less spicy due to my younger son's reluctance to eat anything he believes to be spicy. If you eat it as is be prepared to have a tissue handy as I have witnessed many folks having to dab at their eyes and noses as they were eating. I cannot wait to visit in the winter as it would be the perfect soup for a chilly night.

Diana S.

Yelp
This is my 2nd visit this place. Their soups are pretty good. My 1st time I ordered the spicy one but this time I ordered the sour one. I love both of them. Fish are super fresh. The restaurant is pretty clean. Fish soup place I recommended!

Ariel X.

Yelp
Tomato flavor is very tasty for people who don't like spicy Good environment too, get there early

Leo T.

Yelp
This place specializes in one type of dish only Fish Soup. You can choose different sizes starting with the smallest size for 2 people up to 6 people Fish Soup Dish. They have three levels of spiciness: Sour/Pickled flavor (no spicy), Spicy and Super Spicy. Then you can choose Fish only or mix of Fish and Meat. After that you choose your side dishes; the number varies by the size portion ordered. I recommend the Thousand Year Old Eggs, Deep Fried Dough with Condense Milk and Fried Curl Dough. We ordered the biggest size for 5 adults and it was just enough portion along with the side dishes. We got the non-spicy one and it was great flavor. Definitely worth coming here and trying it out

Max L.

Yelp
I haven't been back to B2J for awhile , I think they keep their food quality well. The fish was soft and not fishy at all (like always) . And we love the Chinese Bun as an appetizer. So crispy!!

H K.

Yelp
Outstanding food and great service, I'll definitely be back here soon! The fish is spicy but not too spicy, and the cucumber salad was really refreshing.

Jessica D.

Yelp
Love this place! I discovered it recently, and it's now one of my must-visit restaurants when I'm in DFW.

Emily Z.

Yelp
Super delicious and authentic. Soup flavor is great, beef and fish are very tender and side dishes are good as well. Will definitely be back!

Mary C.

Yelp
Wait was long on a Saturday night but we are so glad we waited. Food was really good ! We ordered the medium sized combo which had the fresh tilapia with the classic soup. It was huge! Enough for 3 people to share . It came with chinese donut and even the donut was good. You dip the donut in the soup. The fish was fresh and the meat was so tender! The soup was a little bit sour and spicy, with the szechuan numbing peppercorns. It was very good. The century egg was the appetizer. It was marinated in spicy oil with jalapeños. Yum! We will be back! Service was also very good.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Delicious, authentic Sichuan style sauerkraut fish soup! Went around 5:45 on a Friday night for two people and there was no wait! Super fast service as well once you order. They are super efficient and we were out by 7. We ordered the small combo for two, which includes one appetizer, two sides and their famous soup and comes with chinese donut for dipping and rice. We chose their classic spicy sour soup with fish only, with lotus root and rice noodles (highly recommend the noodles!! they soak up the soup so well) with the sticky rice cake for dessert. I'm rather sensitive to spice but I felt like compared to other Sichuanese dishes, this one didn't burn as much and was so delicious! Highly recommend the classic spicy sour. The chinese donut was fun to dip into the soup too! The sticky rice cake was yummy, mochi-like, but nothing magical. I have also had their soup delivered and it is able to preserve its freshness! The Chinese donut may get soggy however.

Mucun S.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Fish and beef both delicious and juicy. Definitely will come again.

Kevin M.

Yelp
This is our second time coming here, and we were not disappointed! We are visiting from the DC area, and finding good, authentic Chinese food is always impossible. This place has good, authentic food. We ordered the couples combo with the fish, a fried pork dish, cucumbers, and homemade sticky rice cake. All of them blew it away. Service was above par, and the waitress was attentive to our needs, even asking if we needed anything multiple times during our dinner. The atmosphere was very pleasant and there was no wait on a Wednesday night. The chairs are comfortable and we were very happy.

Amber Z.

Yelp
Came here twice already. Very fresh fish! Delicious food and great service. You should try!

Chau T.

Yelp
We always come here in winter and when it's cold. Spicy, sour, warming, delicious. Fish and beef were very tender and delicate. An explosion of flavor. You must get the Chinese donut to dip into the soup.

Patyod S.

Yelp
Very good taste, amazing atmosphere and services. I'd recommend this place to everyone I know.

Peng H.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Great experience!! Definitely coming back soon . The milk mochi is not to sweet . It hit the spot .

Nelson C.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant. The Crispy Fried Pork Belly is amazing. I will definitely come again.

James W.

Yelp
Fish is fresh and delicious. We have been here couple times and liked this place. Recommend.

Toshi L.

Yelp
We came around 6pm on Saturday night and it was very busy. Service was good and our server was very quick and friendly. We had the classic one and the broth was tasty. It was bit sour for me but it was still great! The flat noodles go really well with the soup base. There are only limited tables so I recommend that you get there early to avoid the wait. Nice decor inside and clean. We'll def come back!

Zone L.

Yelp
Wonderful food. You don't want to miss it. It's absolutely the best fish I had in the past one week.

Fang-Yi C.

Yelp
Here we are, finally try out this place. We ordered 4 people fish pot it is good, very tasty. We'll come back next time.

Uyen L.

Yelp
Very good and huge portion!! We got the 2 people combo with the classic flavor and it was very filling. The broth was delicious and numbing, but it wasn't spicy at all. The wagnu beef was soft and easy to chew, and the fish filet is definitely one of the best fish I ate in the Dallas area. Combo also came with youtiao and fried bread for appetizers. The waitlist process was simple and easy to use-- just scan their QR code at the front entrance and you'll receive a text when your table is ready. We went to buy groceries at 99 Ranch for like 20 mins and our table was ready afterwards (had 8 parties in queue). Service was fast despite it being a busy Saturday night, and workers were very friendly and answered all of my questions. Their Chinese jelly milk tea dessert was refreshing and perfect to end the meal with. The only thing I dislike is them using paper wares for the bowls and utensils. If they can somehow fixes that, I think this will be a fantastic place 5/5.

Dave C.

Yelp
As usual..an update for 2024...we ordered and tried the spicy soup ..it wad excellent and as ysual the fish n beef is so good and tender

Zoe L.

Yelp
This place is ok. The biggest problem is I feel I like they are using too much MSG in the dishes. You will drink lots of water and feel sleepy afterwards... The price is not too high or either too low. We order the combos for two, which is $38.99. The fish they are using is Tilapia fish. I thought they will use a better kind of fish since the combo price is not cheap. But still. The taste of the fish is ok. The beef has weird tastes. I don't know what's the outer of the beef, similar to starch? We don't like the taste of the beef at all. The best dish is the fried milk custard! That's the best! The restaurant is super tiny and only have around 7 tables. The service is ok too. They offer 5 stars review for a dessert. We obviously didn't do that. Overall, the tastes is ok and the food quality is ok... too...

Yi W.

Yelp
Cozy restaurant with great flavor, me and my wife has been here several times and it never disappoints

Monalisa Z.

Yelp
Ordered combo for 3 ppl for $63.99 including 3 rice. extra rice $0.99 If you like sour and spicy, this is good for you. However, most of the items in our bowl were veggies. The beef and fish? Not so much. For something of this price, I expected a lot more beef and fish. Also, our combo has only 1 appetizer (but they gave us a lot of cucumber salad), 3 add-ons, 3 rice, and 1 dessert (picked the milk custard). I added all individual prices, vs buying combo. Turned out if you buy a-la carte, it's the same price as combo. So buying combo doesn't give you a discount. 20 min after eating, I had a tummy ache.

Darren C.

Yelp
Really excited to have hot and sour fish in this area. One of my favorite things to eat. You can get a huge fish to share with the table. Lots of good small dishes as well, I personally like the fried buns and chicken gizzard.

Holly N.

Yelp
Wow.. it's wow.. If you're willing to step out of your comfort zone, this is the place for you! It's very different. It's nothing I've ever had before. It's goooooood!! My BF, cousin and I ordered the three person combo and I will tell ya that it's definitely worth it! It's well over enough food for three people. I feel like that combo could feed five people!! We ordered the fish soup with tilapia and wagyu in the classic spicy sour flavor. I'm telling y'all.. the flavor is all there! It's spicy. It's sour. It's different. It's goooood. It came out in this huge ass bowl!! The combo comes with rice, 2 appetizers and fried doughnuts. The fried doughnuts was made right!! It was crispy and flaky. It wasn't thick and doughy. They made it the way that I liked it! We also ordered the fried milk custard thing and that was a bit weird at first but it grew on me!!

Yuanpei C.

Yelp
Great place to hangout with Friends and enjoy traditional Chinese fish soup! The food is awesome!

Farheen I.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on Friday night - you have to get on the waitlist on the website, it makes getting a table much easier. The place is small but welcoming and very comfortable. We got the combo for two (wagyu/fish in Szechuan pepper broth) that comes with sides, and finished off with a milk tea desert. It's our first time having this type of soup and we loved it - the soup was so well prepared and flavorful. The beef was insanely tender and a perfect medium rare, and the fish was super fresh. The sides were also delicious, especially the century egg. Service was attentive and they explained everything to us and make some great recommendations. I'm not sure what we were expecting, but we were pleasantly surprised. If you are a fan of Szechuan food or spicy food in general, this is a must try. Definitely recommend coming here regardless (they have non-spicy broth), it was super unique food and very good! PS, the milk tea jello desert was perfect to finish off dinner, it was cooling and helped calm the heat from the soup.

Jenni V.

Yelp
This place has really gone down hill. We used to eat here at least once a month and haven't been back for over a year because the taste suddenly changed. The price has almost doubled which was a huge shock as well. It was no wonder that during dinner time on the weekend this place was not busy at all. It used to be packed and had a huge waitlist. I wonder if this place thinks their customers are loaded... they sell 1.5 fried dough cut into half pieces for $9.

Cindy J.

Yelp
Great service! Authentic Chinese food! Highly recommend. The fish meat is very tender as well

Alli L.

Yelp
Tried this place this past weekend. Decided to order the 3 person combo. It comes with gigantic soup containing fish & wagyu (chose vine pepper numb flavor) with 2 toppings (we chose enoki & lotus root). Also comes with 2 appetizers (chose stuffed lotus root & century egg) and 3 bowls of rice. It's a decent amount of food for 3 ppl and we still have leftovers from the soup alone. Century egg- my favorite thing here & my first time trying it. Has no smell at all. Has a good spicy kick to it. Chinese crispy donut- really crispy. Like it a lot. Soup- we thought the vine pepper numb is the red numbing one but it isn't. It was listed at the end of the spice levels so we just chose the spiciest & it's a green colored soup. Very delicious either way. Upon asking if they had the red spicy numbing kind, they said it is just the one labeled "SPICY" so we plan to try that next time. Stuffed lotus root is flavorful & sweet. I don't eat a lot of sweet things so I'll probably not order this next time but it's delicious nonetheless.
