"This East Dallas legend has been open for over 20 years and is home to delightful Thai duck dishes. Crowd favorites include the roasted duck curry, a deboned, crispy skin duck breast coated in a red curry sauce with pineapples, bell peppers and basil. Also beloved is the basil duck, a crispy minced duck doused in basil sauce with chili, onions, and fried basil. Cap off the meal with a sticky rice dessert topped with custard." - Didi Paterno

Google
Family-run corner restaurant with a menu of Thai favorites. Clean, quiet, quaint atmosphere. Excellent penang, and the pad-woon-sen clear noodles are also great. Service is fast and attentive. Lots of seating and they appear to do a thriving takeout business.

Authentic, reasonably priced, wholesome and tasty Thai food with great service in a relaxing atmosphere. We had the Pad Thai with chicken, the green curry with tofu, pad see ew and spicy eggplant. All turned out to be great choices! Spicy level of medium was perfect. Food came out quickly after ordered and the waitress was very attentive to our needs. Will be back if I am in the area again. Tip: Nice seating options available right outside the restaurant in the lounge area which is still inside the building but not exposed to the elements. I would pick that option next time we visit.

Service was nice, food was delicious. Got the spicy beef salad, green curry, basil duck, green tea icecream, and mango sticky rice. Basil duck was crispy on the outside but the meat was so tender! Street parking where you find it since it's in Dallas! P.s. I didn't get a picture of the steamed thai dumplings but highly recommend. It's really good!

The food is always so good!! The Spring Rolls are my fave, non fried! Ordered the Jungle Curry dish, level 4 the hottest, it did not disappoint. My husband ordered the Teriyaki Grilled Chicken w Broccoli. Really good, sweet sauce. Our waitress Lan and the others are always very welcoming!

The place had a nice atmosphere and homey look, the wait staff was very nice and helpful. I ordered Mongolian beef and the beef tasted like bland tap water the veggies where barely cooked and rested on a base of beef stock. My wife had the kiss me garlic chicken which barely had garlic flavor and a fried rice that tasted like a blank painting of a fried rice (uncle Roger will not approve).

Google
This is our to go Thai restaurant in Dallas area and we love the food. Recently, one of the servers run after we paid from the QR code payment. What we did not like was the server run after us as if we did not pay. Asked for a screenshot or photo. Granted my fiancee did show it to her. What we did not like is how she was not apologetic. I recommend to have a better system and not use that QR code payment if your servers don't feel confident that your customers are paying using the app provided.

My recent takeout experience with Bangkok City Restaurant left a lasting impression, not just for the quality of their food but also for the exceptional customer service. On a night that stretched a little too late, the staff at Bangkok City were incredibly accommodating, kindly waiting past their closing time to ensure we received our order. It's rare to find such understanding and flexibility in the restaurant industry, and it's something that truly sets Bangkok City apart. As for the meal itself, there were many highlights. The spicy basil noodles stood out with their perfect blend of heat and flavor, making every bite a delightful experience. The fried rice was another winner, offering a satisfying blend of textures and tastes that was both comforting and delicious. The spring rolls were crisp and light, served with a dipping sauce that was nothing short of amazing, adding a tangy kick that enhanced the overall taste. However, the Panang curry, while generally a favorite dish of mine, was not quite to my liking on this occasion. It had a notably strong aftertaste that didn't sit well with me, though this is more a matter of personal preference than a critique of the dish itself. In summary, my experience at Bangkok City Restaurant was overwhelmingly positive. The food, for the most part, was excellent, and the staff's kindness and willingness to go above and beyond for their customers was truly commendable. It's these qualities that make Bangkok City a standout restaurant, and I'm keen to return and explore more of their menu in the future.

This is the best Thai restaurant in Dallas. I eat Thai food all over the US and nothing compares. The staff is excellent, the ambiance is wonderful, the owner is professional and stays on top of her game year after year. Chicken and basil, drunken noodles, chicken fried rice, steamed dumplings — all excellent and our go to meals. You cannot go wrong here.

Yelp
absolutely delicious i had to leave a review. my mom would non stop talking about this place and now i've tried it and it is absolutely amazing. The service is amazing they are very kind.

Yelp
Hello! My wife and I have known the Bangkok City owners for several years! My wife actually taught the owners' daughters in elementary school! I usually order the Thai Fried Rice entrees ( the spicy BRF, CFR, SFR, etc ) and the #70 Pepper Fried Rice w pork ! Ive tried several other items but the #70 is my go-to ! The food has always been great, the service excellent, and I've never had any significant wait time! Ive recommended a few family members, several coworkers , church members, and 'random' folks that ask about local restaurants!

Yelp
Pro Tip: Order the Spicy Vegetable Salad (Yum Pak) as an appetizer and skip the Tom Yum soup. This is one of the best things on the menu. Bangkok City is still a favorite despite some significant shortcomings. I was reminded today about their consistently impersonal and frequently substandard service. But, the food is so good...at least most of it. The Tom yum soup is way too sweet and not at all spicy.

Yelp
The owner has a real attitude problem and is so rude. I took a co worker there who is from Thailand and was wanting to show off the restaurant as one of the best Thai places in Dallas. I've gone over the years many times. My friend can't have sugar and tried to order her dish without sugar. It came out to her and was very sweet with sugar. Then the owner refused to re make it. From other reviews I've read, lots of their menu is too sweet and they won't tailor it because they pre make all their sauces! At the prices they charge, $18-22 per dish, they should be able to tailor their sauces especially since they advertise " gluten free, vegetarian dishes etc. " My dish however was so hot neither of us could eat it. It was probably a 7 star out of the normal 1-4 star range. Un edible! I had ordered a 3 star. My friend tried to tell the owner in Thai that it was so hot with spice it burned both of our throats but the owner argued with us and refused to help amend it with coconut milk, which was my Thai friends solution. I took it home to try to fix it from home and it just continually got hotter as it fermented. I didn't want to throw it away as it wasn't a cheap meal. Gave them another chance a few months later. Not only was my dish now $22.00, they charge another $1.85 for a tiny tablespoon of sauce. When I mentioned it, the owner said she could take it out of the waitresses paycheck. She said this in front of other customers too. The poor waitress looked abused. They are getting too expensive for the quality and service they provide. There are a ton of other Thai places in Dallas.

Yelp
A local favorite with a history. I used to eat at this restaurant as a kid. I now order food to go here regularly because of how close it was to my last place and for its consistency. It's also my favorite pad Thai in Dallas. Pad Thai always hits. Flavorful, variety of ingredients and good size portion. I love the appetizers, especially the corn fritters. Service is always nice and quick. The restaurant itself is a cozy spot with flexible seating, and I always see groups. It says a lot that I've seen regulars come in with visiting friends and family to dine in.

Yelp
We absolutely love the service and ambiance here! The food is absolutely delicious as well! My faves are the pineapple fried rice, shrimp spring rolls and the hot pot coconut Thai soup! But you can't go wrong here!

Susan S.

Yelp
I love this special place! The ambiance is serene and they serve my most favorite hot pot style soup ever. The Shrimp Tom-Yum is hearty enough to be a full meal, especially with a side of egg rolls or a Katsu Chicken appetizer.

Matthew W.

Yelp
Cute little Thai restaurant that serves the classics. Service was quick and friendly. Everything was delicious, affordable and fresh. Loved that the menu prices included tax, making splitting the bill or adding tip very easy. I'd recommend the papaya salad, pad-see-ew, and pad-gra-pow. Wouldn't recommend the coconut juice (it's literally a container of Costco brand coconut water and a glass of ice). Overall, I'd definitely come back!

Vikram C.

Yelp
Service: Service was below average. The waitress who primarily served me seemed to be in a grumpy mood. Not very pleasant. This is a shame because the lady who owns the restaurant seems very nice from my interactions with her. I usually get take out from here. Anyways, that's a star off. Food: I ordered the Basil noodles with chicken. This is my favorite dish here(I get takeout from here usually). Very flavorful! It did not disappoint. It has a slight sweetness to it which balances the spice which I like. I ordered dessert as well. I got the sticky rice with custard. I have ordered this dessert here numerous times but it was awful this time. The rice hardly had any of the syrup that's usually on it to make it sweet and was mushy rather than sticky. I basically had wet/mushy rice with custard on top. It was pretty bad. I ate the custard and left most of the "sticky" rice. It pains me to do this but I will have to take a star off for this. Ambience: The interior feel very cozy and not very big capacity wise. Table cloths. It will work for a date night or a modestly sized group. Lighting was pleasant. Value: The Basil noodles cost $16 and the awful dessert of sticky rice with custard cost $8. Considering the taste and portion size(they seemed to have slimmed down on the portions a little or maybe I was just hungry, not sure unfortunately), I would say it is worth it but stick to entrees. I will be back but will be staying away from the sticky rice for now.

Yelp
I came across this gold mine on my birthday. I have tried a few Thai restaurants in Dallas but Bangkok City is by far one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Dallas! The spice was EVERYTHING and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and service was fast. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

Rachel R.

Yelp
Love this spot for take out or brunch! It's a great little atmosphere with awesome service and food! It's tucked from the street but will certainly surprise you if you dine-in:) I recommend the Singha beer(comes in ice cold mug), the dumplings for an appetizer, Tom yum soup, pad Thai, curry dishes! I love this place and the prices are good too!

Anna C.

Yelp
Great little place with delicious food. It comes out how so be prepared! There were a couple cute first dates happening when we were there and seemed like the perfect place for that! Good service too!

Sid B.

Yelp
service and hospitality - Terrible Ambience - disgusting Food - good Will I come here again? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Waiters and Owner, Ask if your clients are done with their meal before you send out the check. Ask what they want after the meal, perhaps a dessert.

Sameera B.

Yelp
Got their pad-see-ew, pad Thai, and sticky mango rice. Everything was soo delicious. Their spice level is 1-4.I got their 2 but if you can tolerate spicy, I would say go for atleast 3/4. Highly recommend this place!

Gina H.

Yelp
I had the misfortune of dining here. I accept responsibility because I picked it. I was looking for crab fried rice and I don't even think what we were served was crab at all. Ok so we are seated and I'm hopeful but I noticed the waitress was really short with us, spending the least amount of time at our table and rushing to others. I was like ok maybe a coincidence. So then we ordered crispy egg rolls and they were put in a reasonable time and good. However more people who didn't present as we did kept coming in. So like 3 different groups came in after us and they received their food so fast. Then I started thinking maybe it was what I ordered nah we ordered fried rice both of us. So that dog don't hunt. Then we were waiting so long I had to flag down the waitress who didn't want to deal with us and ask. So about 7 more mins then our food arrived and it was awful in comparison to the good crab fried rice we had previously. So I'm eating crappy food or trying and notice the waitress running to tables with the water picture to fill their glasses while mine was empty. I was like WOW now without a doubt we are being targeted. So I attempt to convey this to the manager and she comes over grinning and pretending to talk to me but all she says was yes she did that so sorry but when you leave you will have a great day. I said no I will have an excellent day when I leave. They do not like people who do not present caucasian at all and they let you know very clearly. I wish someone had told me prior to my visit and I would have saved money time and indigestion.

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the DFW metroplex customer service is good sometimes bad sometimes but I just think that's the personality food is great atmosphere nice

Yelp
This place is small in a good way and has the best Thai in Dallas. Their rice is awesome! The only thing is they are a bit pricey for the portions.

Victoria H.

Yelp
Consider me obsessed! My husband was looking for something hearty to eat while I wanted something lighter since we had a big event the next day. We had been eyeing this place for a while since it's in our area. After a quick glance at the menu, I appreciated that they had an array of Thai dishes, including a spicy beef salad that caught my eye. We came in and were immediately sat. The server took great care of us. I ordered the spicy beef salad and was blown away. I'm not usually the type of person to order a salad at a restaurant, but given the circumstances, I am glad I did. The dressing really elevated the salad, but the tomatoes, cucumbers, and beef were harmonious. I have gone back for this salad alone and will be returning again shortly! I've also tried the crispy spring rolls and chicken satay, both worth trying if you come here.

Allison A.

Yelp
Very attentive wait staff. Food was amazing, very flavorful, and authentic. We really appreciated how our water glasses never got to fully touch the bottom, the waitresses were always quick to come and refill. 10/10 would recommend for great pad thai! The restaurant is also very quiet which was very nice for a change in restaurant noise.

Aric S.

Yelp
All the food was delicious! The customer service was awesome and they were very sorry for our wait. I was a little disappointed with the Green Curry, it mixed with all of my other food and made it all spicy... But something I DO suggest, are the Tofu Wraps. They came with this DELICIOUS peanut sauce that I mixed with everything on my plate. Yes.. it was THAT GOOD. And I can NOT end this without talking about the amazing Chia Tea. The flavors d syrups in the tea were amazing and was the perfect side for my meal. I recommend this place to people who don't care if anything is spicy, and for anyone who is even hungry!

Gabriel G.

Yelp
Good flavors. Very tasty and very authentic. Nice servers. Good amount of food for the noodles and the fried rice entrees. HOWEVER- this restaurant is absolutely terrible with portion sizes for their curries, or any of their meat dishes. $18 for about TWO tablespoon of meat for their curry dishes and other main meat dishes. You have to literally savor the dish if you want to finish it with your rice sides. Don't order their HOUSE SPECIAL MEAT dishes. Just shitty portions of meat and mostly fillers.

N Q.

Yelp
The restaurant is as charming as could be and appears clean. But oh, portions are skimpy and on day of my visit service was excruciatingly slow, made worse by the fact restaurant was half empty. Appetizers were ok but the City Connection was disappointing and not a good value. Twenty dollars for 4 shrimp and four 2x1" slices of chicken???That's plain obscene! With so many restaurants in the area, I will try them first b4 I ever consider coming back to this place. A pity.

LaTonya B.

Yelp
5 stars for the delicious food and the service. We came in at 9pm and was seated immediately, Although they close at 10pm we didn't feel rushed or underserved. I had Combo Thai fried rice (no tomatoes) yummy. The rice is firm and not soggy. Flavors are amazing and meat seasoned well. Calamari rings are okay and served with sweet chili sauce. My son had pad see ew and he said my rice was better. I find he may not have been as impressed with his noodle dish because it wasn't sweet as at other places he likes. He likes his sugar. We'll be back and I suggest you try them out too!

Laura C.

Yelp
As the pandemic has worn on, I've grown to appreciate restaurants that still choose to protect me. My husband is high risk and we have protected ourselves, so we are now grateful to be able to return to limited indoor dining. If you've been to any physician's office lately or had a dental procedure, you know they're still observing mask wearing protocols and checking temperatures. So I still appreciate restaurants like Bangkok City that clearly post mask wearing signs for their brisk to go business and have widely separated their lovely tables. We've dined here numerous times over the decades. Bangkok City on Bryan is consistently good and I have no idea why I've never written a review! It's a busy intersection; but there's a dedicated parking lot north on Bryan if need be. Currently the usual front door facing the corner is closed and a side entrance is being used to stop foot traffic through the restaurant. I love both the extensive regular menu and condensed lunch version. We both ordered from the beautiful regular menu, though, and then had all this incredible food for lunch! Crispy fried veggie filled spring rolls and fresh crunchy Thai shrimp rice paper wrapped salad rolls followed by the prettiest entrees. My spouse had the Jungle Curry with eggplant (Yum!!) and chicken with bamboo shoots and basil leaves in a red curry. I had A favorite - a wide flat rice noodle in a velvety spicy basil spiked sauce with chicken. Just delicious. The food and the service are still wonderful and so is the ambiance. Relaxed, yet elegant. Big sunny windows. Nice furnishings. Thai wall art and decorations. Plants. A large Buddha. Lovely music. And clean, of course, with clean bathrooms!

Robyn S.

Yelp
Bangkok Thai is a neighbor staple. It's expensive but usually worth the price for the delicious and large portions. We had one off day where all the food was not so great but, having been here 5-6 times before, the food is usually very good. Great service too.

Brittany A.

Yelp
The food is amazing. The service is jam packed with racism, unkindness, and the audacity to discriminate against Black people. I had an early dinner on Saturday, 10/29/22. The waitress who serviced my table was rude to me. Did not seat me. Hardly took my order or looked at me. I ordered warm water and lemon, spring rolls, and duck curry. The plan disappears for 10 minutes. No one check on me. Finally another waiter shows up to take my order. I noticed that he rushed in. I asked if the other woman wen Home for the day because she disappeared 10 minutes ago without my water or napkins. He said she got stuck cooking in the kitchen. 15 minutes later they come back with my water, hot water in a damn glass? Why not a tea pot. Then I asked for a to go container. They hand me a dirty one. I am exhausted. This restaurant went of their way to be disrespectful. When I spoke with the owner about the deplorable s service. The owner said that is just "the waitresses personality and she married to a Black man. How could she be rude, prejudice, racist? Her personality is just rude." The more I review this experience the worse I feel. I pray they did not spit in my food because that is how egregious the behavior was. The worst experience of my life.

Neije M.

Yelp
Ok - went with 4 colleagues for lunch, colleague loves this place. Nice ambiance, great selection...food was not bad...but mainly TOO SWEET for me, couldn't taste anything else but sugar, it's a pity because I think it was made well but sugar masked everything (-1star). Their egg drop soup was sweet (never had this kind of soup sweet), salad dressing was syrup (still ok. Colleague who got yellow curry said it was very sweet. Another colleague got Shrimp Sriracha fried rice and said that was good, I tried it - it was still sweet but not as much as what I ordered - Pad see ew with chicken, I know it's supposed to be sweet but not this sweet. I even got mine with level 2 spice (which is very manageable) but the sugar was too much to enjoy it. *NOW FOR THE MAIN REASON WHY I KNOCKED OFF ANOTHER STAR* I found 2 pieces of hair in my food!! 2 of my colleagues got the same thing and didn't have that issue. I unfortunately got 2 1-2 inch pieces of hair, at first I thought it might be a fried vegetable strand but when I found the second one I was sure it was hair. Thankfully as I was pulling out the 2nd one, the waitress came and took away the plate quickly and I ordered a Chicken Sriracha fried rice instead - it was better but by then I lost my appetite.

Nelson H.

Yelp
Great curry and fried rice. And the price is reasonable. I always get it to go, so can't be definitive on service, but the kitchen is not very fast.

Kacey H.

Yelp
Excellent service, ambiance, and food! Thoroughly enjoy this place every time I go. Love that there are so many vegetarian options.

DeQuilla H.

Yelp
The best crab fried rice you can find! I literally don't want any other fried rice but this one. They even have combinations with either chicken, steak and pork in addition to the crab :O And I absolutely looooooooove the roasted tomatoes they add in each rice plate. I always order extra. I also found that they have one of the best Thai Sweet Iced Tea EVER!!!! So good!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere and service. The pad see ew and Thai coffee or Thai tea are my favorites to order. The pad Thai is a little sweet for my taste, but others seem to enjoy it. Number 2 for spicy was way too hot for this white lady. I was too embarrassed to complain about it. The wait staff are always attentive. Go there and have a nice meal. You won't be disappointed.

Ellie L.

Yelp
I have been ordering from here for over 5 years. My fiancé says I have an addiction to their Pad Thai bc I order from here once a week. This is my go to Thai Restaurant with consistently having amazingly fresh and flavorful food. Everything on the menu is delicious. You cannot go wrong! If you dine out they package your order with care and hand deliver it to you. Their delivery driver is a gem to say the least! If you dine in, the staff is attentive and helpful. I love their restaurant and its ambiance. You walk in have an amazing meal and want to come back to support their business and eat more of their delicious food. 20 out of 10 recommend. Also try out beer if you are dining in. Their mugs are ice cold and the beer gets a little frost on the top when you pour it. Wonderful to have when you are eating a level 4/5 spice dish!!

Ds R.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants on earth. I dearly wish I was able to order from them using Ubereats or Doordash; I tend to use takeout service much more since the pandemic.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Been here several times. We typically do take out, but have also eaten in house a few times. Food is pretty average in my opinion, but does hit the spot if you want Pad Thai or Pineapple Fried Rice. We go here often because it's close by & prices are fair. I would not specifically recommend this plane over others though.

Emma L.

Yelp
Best Thai food I have ever had in my life. I had the pineapple fried rice and the tofu was cooked soooo well. Ambience is great too!

Mika R.

Yelp
Everything we have here is delicious and the service is wonderful! I love the Tom Kha Gai and all of the curries!

Doug S.

Yelp
I have been to probably 10 Thai restaurants in the greater Dallas area and this one is the only one I have truly enjoyed. I have been to much fancier, much more expensive, higher rated Thai restaurants - and they were all garbage. I was beginning to think Dallas had no good Thai options. Save yourself the trouble and just come here first.

Luis C.

Yelp
Walked here on lunch from a training down the street , parking would be tricky here and don't care for it. Good luck parking! Side door goes into an office style building and then another door leads you inside. The decor and seating is nothing to rave about, and I wouldn't take a date here. Now lunch with some coworkers? Definitely. Ordered the Red Chicken curry with a level 4 spicy, but it really was just slightly hotter than mild. I'd get the level 5 next time. The portion size was OK, the rice delicious and the sauce extremely flavorful. I will say once I was done I was still a smidge hungry. $17 bucks before tip with a water to drink. I'd return right away for the food. 8.5 out of 10. Picture was taken off an IG boomerang , sorry for the quality.

Jody W.

Yelp
Teriyaki chicken was absolutely the worst looking and awful tasting dish I've ever seen. I regret not taking a picture. It was a sugar gelatin on top of very thin dry chicken breast, just gross.

Vy N.

Yelp
Located at the corner in downtown Dallas, we happened to crave Thai food and based on the reviews decided to come here. Parking is kind of iffy. There's parking right in front (about 4) and more across the street of another restaurant. We were immediately seated and the servers were so kind and swift. It's a cute restaurant! There were unique statues pertaining to the Asian culture. I ordered the pad Thai with chicken and tofu, spicy level 2. If you really like spicy, I would do 4. Level 2 was not that spicy, I barely tasted it. The pad Thai came out a little sour than i usually have it but it was still delicious. I will definitely come back!

Kari B.

Yelp
This is the best Thai in the city. The food is very fresh and the staff are super sweet. The parking sucks so just prepare for that. I've never had a bad meal here.

Liz A.

Yelp
Finally - after nearly 2 years of searching, we have found our go to Thai place in Dallas! Ambience: we picked up our food to go, but the interior was inviting and warm, with really pretty touches of Thai decor. I would love to dine in sometime in the future. Food: we ordered the pad see ew with beef, chicken pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice. It was hard to pick a favorite! The portion size was huge and the food was piping hot. The three dishes easily covered two meals each for me and my husband. I can't speak to the authenticity, but I liked that the dishes were not overly sweet, oily, or saucy, and that the pineapple fried rice had a bit of a kick. The menu had lots of other interesting items. When I dine in, I'll definitely get the Tom Yum soup, which is presented in a special hot pot serving vessel to keep it warm. Service: I loved that the to go ordered had a separate entrance. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready, and the pick up process was streamlined and fast. As an FYI - if you live within a certain radius, the restaurant delivers for orders over $20 (per the website). I'm not sure if this restaurant is on Uber Eats / Grubhub - but don't let that deter you from calling to place an order and delivery!

Logan T.

Yelp
Ordered the pineapple curry and it was delicious. Also got a Thai tea and it was great! Meet the owner and she was so sweet! This is a hidden gem!

Bernard D.

Yelp
I have been eating here for more than 20 years. The food, staff, and atmosphere are great. I highly encourage everyone to try it.

Texas L.

Yelp
Service was not good. I ordered an appetizer and it came out with our food. My daughter received her meal and I did not receive my meal until I asked for the check. I boxed up our food, paid , left a tip and left unsatisfied with the service.

Lynley L.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in all of Dallas. The ground chicken basil is what I crave. Owner and staff always friendly and they remember the regulars. Would highly recommend this place.

Sara K.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Thai food I've ever had in my life. We drive off our route from Houston to Plano to get it every time we visit family.

Maureen I.

Yelp
Service was better than in the past. Went with another couple for lunch. We were given the dinner menu so asked for a lunch menu. The spring rolls were ok. The pad see kew ( drunken noodle) was excellent with the flavor perfect. Salmon in green curry was good, yellow chicken curry very good. When we got home we realized they charged the dinner price for the lunch portion. Therefor downgraded a star.
