LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This moody cocktail bar in East Hollywood is the more casual offshoot of Corridor 109, the forthcoming Korean-leaning tasting menu restaurant that we thoroughly enjoyed when it was a Chinatown pop-up. At Bar 109, look for inventive cocktails such as a strawberry clarified milk punch and an oolong boulevadier, and a small snack menu with smoked fish dip, shrimp cocktail, a fish sandwich, and a fancy hot dog." - cathy park

Head to Bar 109 for sophisticated cocktails, stay for the bar food - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The area around Melrose and Western is stocked with great restaurants—Bar Etoile, Etra, and Kuya Lord to name a few—but less so places to drop in for a nightcap. Bar 109 changes all that. This dark and sultry spot is ideal for night owls who aren't ready to call it an evening quite yet, with fantastic cocktails that sneak in sophisticated twists, like the curl of white kelp salting the gin martini, or grassy oolong tea smoothing out the boulevardier. High-end tasting menu counter Corridor 109 is opening behind the bar soon, but the short seafood-y menu available up front is worth putting your second stomach to use—even if you already ate, you're going to want that incredible fried rockfish sandwich finished with thick tartar sauce cosplaying as egg salad. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Brant Cox

A sleek 2025 newcomer in Melrose Hill with a kelp‑kissed martini, strawberry milk punch, and refined snacks. Covered by Eater LA, with early praise for cocktails and vibe from critics and editors.

Best shrimp cocktail - half of the shrimp is under the sauce cause they are huge ; perfectly cooked (as in some of the fresh rawness is still preserved) ; sauce is deliciously horseradish forward

Cool spot. Drinks were great. The Som is from Kogane. Great wine list also. Will definitely be back.

As someone born and raised down the street, the businesses coming on Western are a hit or miss as they heavily gentrify the area...However, I had the pleasure of going to Bar 109 on it's opening week and immediately loved the vibes - it's super cozy with a sexy vibe (booths, dim lighting, and a beautiful bar), great for a date night. The drinks were fantastic, and the servers were amazing - Betty in particular was so lovely throughout the night! Service was fast, attentive, and thoughtful. I only tried the drinks, but can't wait to go back for the food!

The service is fantastic, the drinks are great and the fish sandwich is the star. We tried the Oolong Boulevardier & Marine Layer to start. If you enjoy strong whiskey cocktail or a martini, get those. We finished with the Ichigo punch and the Sanshito, both which were sweet, delightful and dangerous. l like drinks that border on sweet but you could really slam them without thought because they were enjoyably bright and refreshing. Of the bar foods we tried, l'd say pass on the Torres chips. Those are really just potato chips..like Lays, nothing special. The Wagyu dog was delicious but not killer-solid bite, great snap. The smoked fish was delicious but let's talk about what the real star of the bar menu is..the fried fish sandwich. First, it's described as a fried fish sandwich on potato bread with tartar sauce& a pickle. It comes with several pickles, the fish is fried perfectly but the surprise is the tartar sauce is essentially an egg salad tartar sauce. The fish maintains its crispiness under that unctuous spread while sandwiched between those buttery buns. It almost makes me regret ordering the Wagyu dog and just eating a whole fish sandwich by myself. So, go get your libation on and that fish sandwich. The bartenders are very cool and the host that night was hospitable and accommodating. Can't wait for Corridor 109 to open up in the back.
