The 10 Best Breweries In Nashville 2024

"Barrique Brewing & Blending specializes in naturally fermented beers like saisons and sours, and operates more like an art project than a brewery. At any given time, you’ll find more than 15 wild beers (meaning they’re fermented with wild yeast or bacteria instead of traditional brewer’s yeast) available in their tasting room. Our favorite pours are Lou Anne, an aged hop saison with notes of herbal tea and orange peel, and Springfield Blanc, a tart blend barrel-aged wild ale made from muscat and chardonel grapes. If sours and saisons aren’t your thing, look for their traditional Haus Pils that’s on tap year round." - adam sloan

The Best Breweries and Taprooms in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Barrique is the most niche kid on the block. Specializing in wild ales fermented in oak barrels, brewer-owner Joel Stickrod started in 2018 with his first beer ready for release in 2019. Barrique moved into the space that was formerly home to Little Harpeth Brewing; its taproom is lined with barrels and wooden accents. Although it specializes in wild ales, Barrique also puts out ales and lagers for beer palates that prefer simpler brews. It hosts a rotating cast of pop-ups, so your food is guaranteed to be as satisfying as the beer." - Kellie Walton

If I lived here, this would be my main hangout. Sean was great. The beer is fantastic. Although there aren’t a lot of beers to choose from, I really like that they offer variety in the ones they do have. As much as I enjoy a good IPA, that’s all everybody makes. It was refreshing to see a Grisette and a wild ale (two). Not many breweries dabble in those styles. Not only did they brew them, they nailed them. The overall look and lighting of this place, combined with the laid back ambiance is awesome. I really like the utilization of the space with the barrels. I do have one complaint, and that is that they either do not have air conditioning, or chose not to use it. I will return sometime in the future. Highly recommend.

Google
A Unique Microbrewery which supposedly? Is the best in Nashville, so our server claimed. I respect his enthusiasm, however it appears to favor Sours/ cider and self-fermenting beers. It’s a nice setup which displays tons of their barrels, but I imagine it’s tailored to a specific crowd of enthusiasts. To summarize, it’s NOT like the other breweries. Come here and decide if it’s for you!

Google
I’ve never visited a brewery with more hype than this. It shows up on Reddit as being the best in Nashville and a good friend of mine listed this as the top brewery to visit when in town. Needless to say, it lived up to the hype. The barleywine was exceptional, the sour was very tasty, and the ‘haus lager’ was great. The vibe of the place is very working man and you’d never know a brewery of this quality was in this space based on the appearance. Overall, it’s definitely worth visiting and I have no regrets coming here to check it out.

Google
I had to make this a stop on my vacation and I was not disappointed. Having drank beer around the country and around the world , in some of the most picturesque places , with some of the most amazing beer , Barrique ranks in the top tier , for sure. The unpretentious nature of the tap room , the quality of the beer , speak for themselves. No need for flashy things or grandiose posturing. The beer will do that on its own . The wild sours are at a level above most in every , and I cannot begin to explain how much I enjoyed them. The lagers though ..... So much dedication , love and attention to such a simple beer. The beer is born of this love and dedication , and it shows in every sip. Hands down some of the most amazing beer I have drank in a very long time. The Haus Pils is the embodiment of a perfect German Pils.... Crisp, dry , hoppy, refreshing.... The true crushable beer, ice cold and perfect. And I have to specifically mention Sean...... Personable , friendly and knowledgable AF about the beer, his love for Barrique, and the beer , shines through. I truly enjoyed having the chance to talk with him. My visit was truly the highlight of my vacation , and for that , I thank you

Google
Excellent beer selection with some amazing sours. Great cask ale and a good west coast IPA. Helpful staff. Tons of bottles and cans to take away. Quiet venue with lots of space and very cool vibe and decor. Lots of barrels.

Google
One of the greatest breweries I have ever visited. Beer is phenomenal and unique, staff was knowledgeable and friendly, prices are very reasonable for the area. Can't talk this place up enough if you love a great craft beer!

Google
Wow! Most unique brewery in Nashville. Specializing in naturally fermented beers. They also had a great selection of very traditional European lagers and ales, including a cask bitter on pull. I was so impressed I returned the next night. I asked if they had a true wild spontaneously fermented beer and was given the bottled TenneSpon and it was a delight. So enjoyable to find a brewery that takes its beer seriously and is willing to put in the massive amount of time and effort to make a naturally fermented beer.

Google
They have the best lagers in the states by far. I'm not a sour beer fan (traditional or new style), but I love pretty much all of their other beers. They do them as close to tradition as possible and use the best ingredients. Was there for Oktoberfest today and their marzen is my favorite of theirs. Will always recommend this place to anyone visiting Nashville.

Yelp
I need to come back here. When I visited, coincidentally, the National Brewers' Conference was also going on. The lines were absurd. That's a good sign though, right? All the brewdudes and brewgals are here, so there must be something to it? I was only able to get one beer here, a sour. But it was incredible. Definitely on the sourer side of sour. My friend got a lager, and it was also really well done. If you're looking for sours in Nashville, this should probably be your first stop. My friend that lives in Nashville tells me the vibes are usually much more chill and the lines mostly nonexistent.

Yelp
This location has no air-conditioning or heat, so it is very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. There are fans inside, but only close to the bar and not at the tables so the air does not circulate inside very well.

Yelp
Decided to try Barrique on a Saturday afternoon. The brewery is located in a warehouse so has an Industrial vibe. At the front door thereare three picnic tables to sit at that are covered and there's a larger outdoor area outside at the opposite end of the brewery. Those tables are all in the open so if it's a hot day they're baking. The inside is long and narrow with barrels stacked a few stories high, makes it feel like you're sitting in a winery. There's a bar and several high top tables. We chose a table halfway back near the selection of bottled beers for sale stacked sideways like wine bottles. After perusing the beer menu I chose the Solitude Pub Ale, a dark very drinkable beer. I wish it would have been served colder but maybe that's the traditional pub style. My husband tried their Czech style Dark Lager which was served a bit colder and he enjoyed its smoothness as well. I was happy their beer selection seemed well rounded with several sours also on the menu and not the usual IPA heavy menu of many of the breweries in town. I really wanted to give five stars but here's what held me back- 1. It was really hot outside and they had both the front and back doors wide open, so it must have been near 90 inside. 2. Metal music was blasting, took away from the relaxing Saturday vibe we were looking for. 3. Their food menu was all meat based, I think there were four types of beef sandwiches offered. One vegan option would be much appreciated. But if you're a meat loving metalhead who likes it hot, disregard my concerns 'cause you're gonna love Barrique!

Yelp
Oh. Wow. What a find... great staff, warehouse brewery, barrels stacked upon barrels, lots of choices... but most of all, fantastic beer! I got to chat a bit with Matt and Kyle to learn more about Barrique and was impressed at their knowledge and their testimony on Joel ( the owner) and his care for making great beer. I'm impressed. With full understanding that these styles are not as common for most local breweries, and this lost local audiences may be new to some of this greatness, I will say that sour styles can be an acquired taste. But as a quick review, Barrique has acquired excellent "taste" and I highly recommend a visit if you're interested in sours or lagers, but also if you're learning and want to expand your beer mind come in and chat with their knowledgeable and friendly bar staff. It's a small crew and they care about what they're doing!

Yelp
You can find Barrique Brewing and Blending at 30 Oldham St, Nashville, TN 37213 in Downtown Nashville close to the stadium. The brewery occupies an old warehouse (this is a commercial and industrial manufacturing area) and you enter via a loading dock. There's parking along the entry platform, I'm not sure if there's additional but it appeared to be adequate to the clientele. Most breweries start with a few simple staples that can be made fairly cheaply and easily in quantity. Barrique went another route and focused on spontaneous fermentation - the stuff that Belgian Abbeys are famous for - typically called Lambic in Europe, more properly called AmLambic in the US (seems they're some protection to the use of "lambic" similar to the use of "champagne"). What's interesting about Barrique is that they developed various sponfon cultures that they use to create large batches, which are then divided and put into traditional French wooden barrels called "barriques" - where they got the name. Once these get going they use various blending techniques to combine flavors, add fruit for the natural yeast to feed upon, and come up with some amazing beer flavors, most are at least a little funky and tend to be tart, but through blending they've ended up with a plethora of flavor selection from sweet to tart, less funky to chewy. This is beer ART taken to the NEXT LEVEL! I'm hesitant to really talk too much about this brewery - it's one of those hidden gems that few craft beer people that aren't local to Nashville really know about as distribution is limited. After entry you'll see a large wooden map of Tennessee - that'll tell you most of what you want to know about this great brewery. Since opening in this location they've begun to offer more traditionally brewed beers and from what I've tried, they're all competently made and worth a taste. The taproom has a bar that stretches along one wall backed by barrels stacked about 4 high - this continues throughout this gigantic warehouse space. There are a few tables if you don't care to sit at the bar itself. Prices are super reasonable for a bottle - there's enough in there to split 2-3 ways - we try to go as a group and everyone gets one bottle - we then share everything. Honestly I haven't had a beer that I hated, noting rating less than a 4/5 for me. Only downside is that the taproom shares space with the barrelroom so can get a bit warm during summer weather. I've tried the following: * Nectarine Gose 4.5/5 - Quite nice natural fermentation sour with intense nectarine and citrus fruit tartness, a puckering mouthfeel and a touch of funk and salt on the finish. * Field Blend Wild Ale 4.5/5 - Love this brewery, sweet muscadine grapes imbued in natural fermentation producing the perfect tartness with a touch of funk. Delicious, finishing fruity and dry. * Pivot Pale Ale 4.1/5 - Interesting melange if tropical notes in a dry body and hoppy finish. Notes of papaya and melon. * 019 Flanders Style 4.5/5 - Barrique probably does the best Flanders I've had in the Southeast - tart fruity wild yeast mouthfeel, notes of cherry and oak, eye-opening effervescence and a dry satisfying finish. * Rye Barrel Plumbus Saison 4.4/5 - Delicious plumb saison, barrel notes, tart body with a great earthy mouthfeel and a sweet dry finish, touch of funk, so good. * Big Cherry Wild Ale 4.3/5 - Bright, nice cherry and dark fruit notes in a beautiful mouth feel body, finishes funky and effervescent. * Flanders Style (Blend 2) 4.5/5 - Delicious, tart red fruit, cherry and plum notes layered into oak and smooth barrel additions, finishing slightly sweet, satisfying with a touch of funk. * BBA Batey Noir 4.3/5 - Sour dark farmhouse ale with 100% tennessee malt. Bourbon, raison, fig, cherry. * Two Season White Peach 4.5/5 - Quite tasty tart peaches with additional barrel notes, finishing crisp, a bit sweet and funky. * Petite Biere De Coupage 4.1/5 - Tasty, oaky fruit nose on this tart lightweight lambic style beer, finishes dry with a hint of funk. * Flanders Style Strawberry 4.5/5 - Loved this, classic cherry and strawberry rich Flanders with barrel notes, great mouthfeel finishing dry and funky. *Peach TenneSPON 4.5/5 - Delicious fruity lambic with intense peach and stone fruit nose in a tart body with amazing mouth feel. Finishes slightly sweet and funky. * Icaria Double IPA 4.2/5 - Well executed robust west coast IPA with malty backbone, fruity notes and piney hoppy finish, extremely well balanced. * Basique Fraise Fruited Sour 4.4/5 - Delicious citrus and strawberry notes in a somewhat bright body, finishing crisp and funky. Service here is fantastic - you'll often see the brewers wandering around and they're pretty easy to interact with - the taproom peeps are all very knowledgeable and can answer questions about the various brews in question - Love, love this place!

Yelp
this place is really cool!! A real MUST VISIT for any beer freak. I will even go out on a limb to suggest, lovers of PetNat wines seek out this establishment. It's a unique standout Brewery outside of Downtown Nashville. The setting is a strange combination of French Cellars meets Contemporary US Brewery. Simple seating arrangements. The space is great for groups of any size; however, you'll get more intimate service with a party of 4 or less. The intimate service will be what a 'First Time' patron will appreciate most. These guys know loads of details about their products, methodology, & history. I learned a lot by simply sitting at the bar & asking for Questions/Suggestions. Drinks are diverse and not saturated with IPAs as most breweries. The eclectic menu of beers will test all of your senses. Prices are about average for a California patron visiting Nashville $8'ish per pour; but we'll worth taking your time to drink. The menu changes & rotation I'm sure are common. But you can't beat this place when comparing to common brewing competitors. I wish i lived near this place. Great experience & tasting. These people do it right. Go here if your looking for something fun to do.

Yelp
This is always a beer stop when we are in Nashville! We love their selection of sours and light beers. The staff working is always so nice and happy to talk! In addition to the bar seating, there are several tables to enjoy time with your party. Share a bottle or get a draft pour (or a little of both)! Either way you'll likely enjoy what you get. I did leave a star off because of the heat in that place. During the non-summer months its great, but in the summer its brutal.
google avatar

Dave D.

Yelp
Dropping a star for summertime heat inside - looks like the big a$$ fans were removed by last owners and not replaced - sooo it gets really hot inside. Service also off depending on if you get Hillary- we sat at bar for about 10 minutes waiting to order while she was chatting and laughing with a group of customers. Scott came back in from outside and was very attentive and helpful. Soo if you have a choice go for Scott helping you.

Yelp
Hands down, one of the best and most unique breweries we have ever been to. The selections are amazing. Hubby had a porter and I had a sour on tap which we both loved. Our friend had a smoked porter which I tasted, very good. I bought two sour bottles to go, so many flavors to choose from, it was hard to decide. Have not tried yet since we are on a long road trip. Hoping they make it home to FL ok. Cool atmosphere inside with all the barrels stacked so high.

Chris P.

Yelp
WHAT A FIND! This is a true beer geek's brewery. At least a dozen mixed/ spontaneous fermented beers all barrel aged. Also very reasonably priced!

Tracey B.

Yelp
Not a huge selection of beer but the two we tried were good. No food so don't come hungry. A little of the grid but overall a good place for beer lovers.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Very chill brewery. It is small yet a great place to hangout at. They have a decent variety of beers, and their t-shirts are super soft. I hung out here for a few hours with my group of 4 playing card games and drinking beers and it was a chill Saturday night. The bartenders are also really cool.
google avatar

Yelp
Barrique Brewing and Blending is one of the best breweries for sours that we've visited and we're very lucky to have it in our backyard. The sours they make are flavorful and tart and everything you'd want in the style. They moved into their new location this past summer and it's a great location near the river. Parking is right out front of the brewery and they have lots of seating in the brewery and tables outside. They have IPAs and lagers on draft and their sours are by the 500 mL bottle. It's very warm inside in the summer, but hopefully that'll improve soon as it's a great interior with tons of wood and barrels. It's definitely a great place to stop in and enjoy a few great brews!
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
Joel Stickrod knows his sours. Previously at Mantra, he has honed his craft to make some of the best beers in town. And Hillory is certainly one of the finest beertenders in town. My only complaint about the place is it is too hot to sit in for long periods, at least during the summer. The location is in a warehouse district not far from the stadium. The best way to get there is off Jefferson Street and taking Cowan Street South until it Ts at Oldham. You will see the small parking lot just across the street to the left. If you have ever been to Little Harpeth in the past, this is their old building. On Saturdays, they will often bring in trucks or serve food from the garage door next to the taproom. Otherwise, no food. The taproom is done in hardwood and you are surrounded by the barrels the beer is being aged in. There are some clean beers on tap, primarily lagered styles or IPAs (although I hear the IPAs are going away as people are not supporting them - too bad, because a barrel aged IPA really works). But, the room gets really hot, which is the down side for me. As for the beer? In addition to the clean on tap, everything else is bottled. Most come in at $15 a bottle, which is a decent price for a barrel aged sour. There are some older bottles that are pricier and can only be consumed on premise, unless you are a bottle club member (8 bottle a year and other perks for $250/year).

Rashad B.

Yelp
Great stop for beer! They have a bunch of flavors that come in 1pt sizes, they're good to share with people and for someone who doesn't like beer that much, I thought the Basique Cerise was great and a good runner up is the Whole Cluster - Chambourcin
google avatar

Scott C.

Yelp
We loved the brewery. They have a ton of great brews. The staff was very knowledgeable and knew the deal. We are not big on raunchier beer but tried there's and it was very nice. I may need to keep a better open mind on these types. Very nice atmosphere and nice looking taproom. We will be back.

Joanie P.

Yelp
Great beer selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely find this place if visiting Nashville!
google avatar

TJ M.

Yelp
Super chill brewery in the old Little Harpeth space with an extensive list of unique aged beers as well as some on draft. I'm not a big sour fanatic, but I've managed to find more than a few that I've enjoyed here. The friendly staff can help narrow down the list based on your preferences. Great spot to try something new and have a conversation.

Chad B.

Yelp
Barrique Brewing does not disappoint. A unique environment with a 14 foot wall of barrels that sequesters off the tasting room. They mainly focus on Lagers and sours, but do you have an occasional brown, porter, or stout. The stout I had, although not on draft, was amazing. Big flavor profile... Chocolate & vanilla. Quite Amazing, so I bought a bottle to go. :-)
google avatar

Tracie P.

Yelp
Barrique Brewing and Blending is a newer offering on the Nashville beer scene. Barrique has been selling bottles of their sours for a couple of years now and recently opened a taproom on the east bank of the Cumberland. They have a warehouse space where you can sit among the beer barrels and sample beer on draft or in bottles. If you like sours, this should be a priority stop on any visit to Nashville. Flavors vary by season, but my favorites are the peach-infused offerings.
google avatar

Sherri S.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Friday afternoon. Awesome beer and great service. The owner came out and chatted with us for about half hour. Explained the process. So interesting. Tons of sours and 6 other beers on tap. Great beer and awesome customer service

Yelp
What a great little place to go to, employees were so personable and nice. My group of three ordered some beers and decided to hang out on their patio and play some giant Connect 4. They have great sours and some solid "clean" beers. Their website didn't have too much information on their beers but when we got there we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of sours they had! My boyfriend and I ended up ordering a few bottles to go! I am so excited to crack em open to enjoy. Will update when I do :) and let y'all know what I think of those! The beers we had on site were very tasty i forget which sours my boyfriend and I had but they were WONDERFUL, I believe one of my party ordered the Czech Pilsner that was florally, and light with a clean after taste that made you want to just keep drinking. Staff were great conversationalists and had great recommendations. Vibes inside the brewery were very chill, low lit and rustic decor. Location of the brewery itself is quite out of the way but other than that, very tasty beers! I definitely recommend finding a ride share or driving only because its fairly close to/in the industrial side of the border between East Nashville and Downtown. Seriously, don't walk here, its a fair distance and there isn't much lighting at night. There is a relatively nice looking hotel near by but it looks like its for more of the cross country movers/ journey people as the wrought iron fence around it suggests a fairly secure parking lot. But a wonderful place to visit :)

Yelp
Great beer and service in East Nash; Will be back!
