The 7 Best Pie & Mash Shops In London

"Where other pie and mash establishments have leaned into their history as a means for existing in the future, B.J’s has pivoted not to merch, nor to alternative pies, and certainly not to card machines. No, this cash-only spot in Plaistow has diversified with its potato offering. Namely, chips. It’s a small spot that swaps some of the idealised pie and mash aesthetics for West Ham memorabilia and chilli vinegar in old Jack Daniel’s bottles. Even so, the mince in gravy is some of the finest in town, and the same goes for the service. " - jake missing

Pie and Mash Shops in London | London’s Best Pie and Mash - Eater London

"As well as being the smallest shop on the list, B.J’s on Barking Road bucks the trend by controversially serving chips as an alternative to traditional mash. Past the communal bench seating, food is served by friendly staff from a counter at the back of the shop (also unusual): pies are crowned with desirably well-done crusts, mash is creamy and the liquor is generously seasoned." - Jonathan Hatchman

Went here for lunch today, lovely food, great prices and kind & friendly lady serving. Can’t fault it. Love the place photos hung on the wall, lovely glimpse into the history of the shop and local area. Will go again.

Popped in yesterday for my 1st visit. Been to a lot of pie & mash shops in the London area and this was the best one yet. Pies were full of fresh meat and the pastry was perfect. The Liquor was the best I’ve tasted by far. Mash was decent, although portion sizes were on the small size. Well priced and a lovely owner. Parking outside, free for an hour so another bonus. 100% be back

Great pies, probably the second best pie I've had in London I've been too all the popular pie shops in London!

First timer. Wanted to try traditional East End Pie mash and liquor. Wasn't disappointed. Excellent service, welcoming atmosphere, and food was lovely. Will definitely visit again..

The perfect comfort food on a wet British day. Simple, delicious and affordable. Also, the husband and wife duo that own the shop are extremely kind, funny and a blast to have a chat with! This is a must on your bucket list if you visit London in any capacity. Make the trip. No regrets. Cheers!

I love the atmosphere in here. Proper old School East End vibe. The ladies that work there are down to Earth, pleasant, kind, happy and funny. Even all the customers are all lovely and happy. Everyone talks to each other. I come here often and the food is bloody lovely!! You won’t be disappointed so I highly recommend it.
