"Brisket, ribs, and other BBQ dishes available for delivery or takeout - call or order online." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, arden shore, matt tervooren
"Holy Ground is a cross between a barbecue spot and a steakhouse, all in a speakeasy-like space in Tribeca. And while you’ll most likely be sharing here, it’s the kind of place where you just need a couple of dishes for the entire table (and everyone can leave full). One of those dishes should be the beef rib that will remind you of the fact that cows are actually pretty enormous, and another one should be the smoked chicken. Bring a few people, sit in a big leather booth, and get a side of crispy potatoes, too." - bryan kim
"Sure, dinner with your ex might involve catching up about work and rehashing a few bitter-sweet memories, but the main reason you agreed to meet is to show them what they’re missing out on. Make a reservation at Holy Ground - an underground spot in Tribeca that feels like a members-only social club from the ’30s. Wear something you know you look good in, sip a martini in a red leather booth as your ex arrives, and you’ll be well on your way. When it’s time to order food, suggest the wagyu brisket or the pork belly topped with chicharron. Explain that they’re like traditional BBQ dishes that have gotten a makeover. Just like you." - matt tervooren
"What It Is: A steakhouse in Tribeca that focuses on smoked meats Perfect For: Birthdays We enjoy steakhouses that feel like places where Dean Martin would’ve smoked cigars in corner booths, and we also enjoy really good slow-cooked smoked meats. Holy Ground is a new spot in Tribeca where we recently experienced both. It’s behind an unmarked door on Reade Street, and the basement space has red leather booths, low ceilings, and walls covered in paintings that look very old. We liked everything we ordered, especially the full rack of spare ribs which were sliced by a server tableside and fell off the bone when we picked them up. There’s a deep smokiness to all the meats here, which is especially appreciated because they don’t let you smoke cigars in corner booths. The Verdict: Come here if you like to drink martinis and eat really good meat. We’ve added it to our Hit List." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg, chris stang, matt tervooren
"The food at Carbone is excellent, but you’re also there for the experience. The same can be said of Holy Ground. It’s a dimly-lit, below-ground steakhouse in Tribeca with red leather booths, low ceilings, and great martinis. While all the slow-smoked meats here are really good, it’s the details - like servers in jackets and ties slicing full racks of ribs tableside - that make the meal especially memorable." - bryan kim, katherine lewin, matt tervooren
