Step into this charming, vintage soda shop where delicious sundaes and nostalgic vibes transport you back in time, making it a family-friendly delight.
"For years, New Yorkers have flocked to this old-school ice cream shop in Carroll Gardens for pretzel sundaes and egg creams. But during the winter, their hot cocoa topped with toasted marshmallow fluff is the main draw. The “fluff” in question is made in-house and tastes like a scoop of cotton candy that’s been set ablaze for just a few seconds. Like an exclamation point, this small touch makes a huge difference." - will hartman, carina finn koeppicus, nikko duren
"There’s tons for kids to ogle when they enter Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain, a longtime favorite carved from a former pharmacy that dates to a century ago, featuring milkshakes, sundaes, sandwiches, pastries, and homemade sodas. A display of tin wind-up toys makes this child-friendly place feel like museum, and watching the soda jerks making milkshakes and floats is an education in itself." - Eater Staff
"You might think Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain is a place for kids, but it's so much more. With a selection of sundaes, waffles, ice cream floats and egg creams, there is surely something at Brooklyn Farmacy for everyone. We love going to Brooklyn Farmacy with a group of friends. They have a great selection of board games and don't frown upon a group of adults holing up and spending hours in their establishment. Pro tip, go for dinner! They have a great assortment of sandwiches and absolutely tasty mac n' cheese. Extra pro tip, get the child sized sundae and you won't feel like death afterwards." - Ghostly Ferns
"The building that houses Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain was actually pharmacy, back in the 1920s. After being closed for decades, the space was restored and reopened in 2010, retaining some of its old-school charm and a few relics from the original. Sundaes come in a variety of flavors for around $12, topped with ingredients like shortcake, peanut butter, potato chips, and hot fudge, most of which are made in-house. Ice cream floats (homemade soda with a scoop of ice cream) are another specialty." - Eater Staff
"By far the most delicate egg cream on this list, Brooklyn Farmacy uses seltzer from a vintage Bastian Blessing carburetor, which creates a light foam that settles in a thick layer. They don’t use a ton of syrup, so the drink isn’t cloying. It’s meant to be finished quickly, chugged without a straw so you get a foam mustache. Brooklyn Farmacy has a few different flavors, like vanilla (also a classic) and the fairly unique maple egg cream. For those who want something a bit more rich, order the “Flatbush Float,” an egg cream topped with a scoop of ice cream." - carina finn koeppicus
