The 35 Best Restaurants in Florence, Italy | Eater

"Florence isn’t the ideal destination for seafood lovers, but this is a gem worth seeking out. There isn’t one thing this seafood eatery doesn’t do well: risotto, luscious Sicilian gambero rosso shrimp pastas, tender grilled octopus, and seasonal catches of the day sourced locally and from regional Italian seafood bastions such as Sardinia. Service is hit-or-miss, but the quality of dishes and the location, hidden from tourist droves, more than make up for it. The wine selection is decent too. Vibe check: The inside is kind of dark, so sit outside if weather permits." - Coral Sisk

In Florence, a Steak Lover's Paradise, Fish is Flourishing | Bon Appétit

"Named after the classic snack of bread topped with butter and anchovies and led by Alberto Galli, this fish bistro champions a simpler, purer, and more seasonal seafood-focused cooking that bridges Florence’s meaty past with a marine-forward future. The menu playfully references local traditions—most notably a lampredotto-inspired dish in which slow-cooked cow is replaced by a generous helping of octopus—while emphasizing fresh, coastal ingredients." - ByJackie Cooperman

Utter perfection. Every dish was stunning, the hostess looked after us, and was pleasant and engaged, made the whole experience fun and easy! We had anchovies on toast with lots of butter (can't go wrong), the yellow tail ceviche (beautiful, delicate), we shared the tagliolini with mullet roe for our primi (rich but light, fresh and morish) - oh, and every dish we chose to share came split onto two plates, a nice touch! - We finished with our secondi - the fried seafood platter and the octopus, both the best examples of each we've tried (and we eat a lot of seafood around the Mediterranean). It's an odd addition in a review, but it was noticeable that attention had been paid to the sound in the space. Lots of sound dampening "furniture" and just panels - the result is that, what would probably be a loud and reverberous space otherwise, was pleasant, intimate and we could hear each other fine without raising our voice. Just another touch that made this restaurant special. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality fish restaurant in Florence. You'll love it!

After doing some research this place came up on a few lists and was pretty highly recommended. We were not disappointed to say the least. We had such a great meal here. Seafood was fresh and food quality was superb! After having spent a few nights in Florence we had had enough of the regular fare one might find in the more central touristy areas. I mean there is just so much Bistecca alla Florentine and Pappardelle Ragu one can have. So we were ready for a change. We highly recommend the pastas and the fried squid starter. The creamed cod on the other hand while pretty good was not as good when compared to the other dishes. Service was great and our waitress spoke perfect English and was very helpful in helping us choose our dishes. We will definitely be back to have another meal here should we find ourselves in Florence again. As my partner is pregnant, we would definitely want to try some of the raw selection and dishes that feature raw food the next time around.

So glad I came here and ventured out of the touristy area in Florence. The seafood was insanely fresh and reasonably priced. It turned out to be the best meal of my trip. I recommend the raw seafood platters, anchovies, butter and bread and pastas.

We had the sea bream and tube steak. Both were really good and tasty.

Our family chose this restaurant based on its positive reviews for seafood in Florence and made a reservation for a party of five. However, we were shocked by the appalling and openly racist behavior of a waitress. I am white, as are my parents, while my husband and I are an interracial couple. The difference in how we were treated was glaring. The waitress spoke to me and my family in one manner but addressed my husband with clear disdain and open racism. She raised her voice at him and treated him with a level of disrespect that was both humiliating and unacceptable. When we requested to be served by another waiter, she continued to return to our table, refusing to step away, as though determined to assert her hostility. When we asked for the bill, desperate to leave, she deliberately stalled—clearing the entire table while making us wait for over 10 minutes. We ultimately had to approach the reception desk ourselves to finally pay and leave. It became painfully clear that this behavior was not an isolated incident but rather tolerated, if not encouraged, by the management. Our request for a different waiter was simply ignored. If you are not Italian, especially if you are part of a mixed-race family, I strongly urge you to avoid this place. The experience left us deeply hurt and with our evening ruined. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience we have ever had.

Google
A great seafood place in Firenze. Specializing in anchovies, as apparent from its name. Francesca greeted us at the entrance and helped us with humor and in her Italian way to sort out through not extensive, but creative menu. We had marinated anchovies, which were great, not too acidic, but just right - recommend. Then we had fried anchovies with sage - a creative dish with everything being lightly fried in "tempura"-like mix, not oily, with clear taste of fish fillet - very recommended. Then we had a fried red fish, a beautifully presented dish. That dish could be more interesting with an addition - a light sauce or something similar to underline the richness of fish meat. I could not leave without trying their version of tiramisu, with a notch of almonds flavor in the base crust (not the usual coffee soaked finger cookies), a super gentle cream and a couple leaves of bitter chocolate on top - a delicious desert. All that was accompanied by a glass of Fiano wine. Great value for your money due to exquisite taste. Highly recommend!

Best sea food restaurant in south of Arno river in the area of "Porta di San Frediano" The overall ambiance is well managed with proper lighting which gives comfortable feelings for meals. All dishes are created with innovative ideas and are well served in a very professional manner.

Yelp
First time here and we really enjoyed it. Started with the fried anchovies with sage, and it was very nice (and I don't typically eat anchovies). Next was the risotto with cuttlefish and it may have been the best risotto I've had. We both had fish as our main course, and both were really enjoyable. Nice staff and very good wine list made for a very nice experience. Would recommend.

Yelp
Wow! Fried anchovy and sage appetizer was excellent. The snapper presentation was next level. Worth the walk from our hotel. Even enjoyed our "fake" sgroppino. Grazie!

Yelp
Can't give a review of the food because our waitress left our table and did not come back. We asked to order an appetizer first and then have a couple minutes to look the menu over and decide on the rest of the meal. She did not like that, put in the app order and did not return to our table. We didn't have a chance to order drinks or other food. Got the check and left. Menu looked interesting, but we'll never know.

Yelp
Found this spot by chance and surprise is one of the best seafood places of Florence. Service staff is amazing, English speaking too. The fish is fresh, extremely fresh :) very cozy and quiet spot, ideal for a great quality lunch/dinner. Casual attire.

Yelp
Great seafood, great service, delish desserts - you can see what's the catch of the day at the front of the restaurant

Yelp
For the price this is the best Fish Restaurant in Florence. The dishes well thought out and tasty. They do a very select dish of raw fish. The calamari and octopus dishes are excellent. The staff is very friendly and the wine selection very refined.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and it was the perfect break from the more traditional Italian-Tuscan meals. The decor and atmosphere very much evoke the seafood-focused cuisine offered; clean, simple, blue, you know you're in for a good meal as soon as you step in. The wait staff were friendly, welcoming, and let us enjoy our meal at an un-rushed, leisurely pace. We ordered a bottle of their house white wine, and were really pleasantly surprised to find how enjoyable it was. For our first course, I had their salmon tartare with oranges (a combination I was skeptical of and now whole-heartedly endorse), and he had a pasta dish. For dinner, he had their grilled seafood dish, and I had their tuna steak with a green peppercorn sauce, which was perfectly cooked and delicious, a true standout of the trip for me. We ended the meal with some biscotti and vinsanto, and sat there a bit as we took our time finishing our wine, never once feeling rushed. It was a nice foray into modern Tuscan cuisine, and a great little spot south of the Arno that gave us a much needed break from the bustle of the north. If you like your seafood, it's worth a try!
