The 24 Best Restaurants In Portland, Oregon 2024

"The raw bar behind Fracture Brewing which shares an outdoor patio with the Lil’ America pod is a delightfully unexpected spot to find fresh fish. The less-than-obvious location—plus the seafood towers full of raw oysters, beautifully plated scallop crudo drizzled with chamomile oil, and hamachi garnished with green apple—are enough to impress a date or a group of out-of-towners. You need their lobster roll, which comes with hunks of meat doctored up with sauce gribiche, topped with brown butter, and served in a small hollowed-out brioche loaf. Câche Câche has a tight list of reasonably priced wines to pair with your seafood, and thanks to the neighboring taproom, you can sip a petite saison or rice lager if you’re more into beer." - krista garcia

Where to Find Fresh, Briny Oysters on the Half Shell in Portland

"This semi-hidden restaurant next to Fracture Brewing has garnered attention for its showy lobster roll, but the raw seafood offerings are reason enough to pay a visit to this inner Southeast spot. Order the bivalves accompanied by the classic trio — lemon, mignonette, and hot sauce — to devour on their own or build a seafood platter with the addition of poached shrimp, scallop crudo served on the half-shell, and other marine delicacies. Don’t miss the late night happy hour, starting at 9 p.m. where oysters go for $2 each." - Krista Garcia

Where to Find Stellar Seafood in Portland

"Former St. Jack chef de cuisine John Denison opened this tiny seafood spot behind the bustling Lil’ America pod, a place where couples can knock back oysters over a bottle of muscadet tucked away from Stark. Here, raw treats range from scallops dotted with chamomile oil to plump poached shrimp with Mama Lil’s cocktail sauce, but the absolute must-order here is its genius, bite-sized lobster roll." - Jenni Moore, Nathan Williams

Where to Find Fully Loaded Lobster Rolls in Portland and Beyond

"In Portland, Maine, the brown butter lobster roll at Eventide Oyster Company changed the game when it came to an inventive, bite-sized take on the classic. Câche Câche, tucked behind the Lil’ America pod in Southeast Portland, may offer the West Coast Portland’s version of that roll, bite-sized and truly creative in its approach. A toasty square of brioche, nutty with brown butter, arrives with a wallet slit stuffed with juicy lobster meat, tossed in aioli with just a hint of tarragon for a French touch. But to give the lobster some acidity without watering down the mix, chef John Denison finishes the roll with a dusting of sweet cream buttermilk powder. It’s exceptionally well executed without losing sight of the source material." - Janey Wong, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This is my favorite seafood spot in all of Portland. Cache Cache is so seafood-forward and any flavors or textures only enhance the superbly fresh fish/shellfish that they offer. I think about the sardine toast once in a while and it makes me want to get one immediately. The oysters are always fresh with the perfect balance of sweet and briny. The shrimp cocktail is honestly the best I've ever had, and any special fish preparation is always flavorful and seasonally interesting. Even the chicory salad was delicious with the poached egg and bonito flakes. It's located within Fracture Brewing and next to the lively lil America food pod. To the folks who are looking for full table service-- please be aware that you order via QR code menu/app and you can add more to your order and/or close out whenever you want. I personally don't mind this as sometimes servers are busy and you end up having to wait for another drink or to pay your tab. I can't wait to be back!

Tucked away behind a brewery in Portland, Oregon, Cache Cache Raw Bar & Grill is a hidden gem worth discovering. Despite its unassuming location, the culinary offerings here are anything but ordinary. The crudo, oysters, crudites, lobster rolls, and sardine toast all shine with exceptional flavors and freshness. What truly sets Cache Cache apart is its remarkable wine selection, offering incredible value. We savored a Sancerre priced at just $50, a steal considering its $35 retail value. For seafood lovers seeking quality dining at reasonable prices, Cache Cache is perfect. Just a little cozy.

Google
Câche Câche is amazing! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, everything is crafted beautifully. All the seafood Chef John presents is great, and the lobster roll is incredible! The space is also very cool, very light and filled with plants. They have a great selection of wine, and beer and cocktails are right next door. I'll definitely be back!

Excellent food in a quirky setting. The lobster roll was great, as were the oysters. Some of the dishes are a bit eclectic. I recommend ordering several of the small plates and sharing. Colocated with the outstanding Fracture Brewing Taproom, which makes it so easy to pair a good brew with the fine food. Order from the QR code and the food soon appears.

Google
I love a good raw bar, but am often underwhelmed by the quality to price ratio found at many, not the case here. Câche Câche is going to be a regular stop for me, as the seafood was high quality, oysters were creamy and not overly briney, small plates were thoughtful and unfussy, allowing the ingredients to shine and fu**in delivious!Loved the crudos (we had the Hamachi and Scallop) which were very differently dressedmaking each standout on their own, the lobster roll was stuffed and overflowing with lobster as it should be with the Dos Hermanos bread making for an amazing upgrade to the typical Maine-style roll and the sardines!!! Damn they were good and not fishy 🤯 and so well-balanced on Dos Hermanos toast with caper aioli, honey and fresh dill. I’m craving it and was just there last night. Also having wine bottles at an average of $30 ea is a nice touch so you can really treat yourself without blowin through Benjamins. Can’t wait to go back! Bonus: if you have kids and want a grown up meal, you can sit outside in the cart pod and get them food from many other options while you and your partner enjoy oysters and wine!

Google
One of everything. No regrets. Amazing. Crudo was the perfect opener. Scallop like butter. Lobster roll was stupid decadent. Had the good fortune of pairing with some Winter Waters cocktails - magic.

Google
This was an amazing one of a time portland experience. The staff was extremely friendly and inviting. The food was top notch. We had one of everything on the menu and you can’t go wrong with any item they offer. Top 3 dishes have to be the lobster roll, scallops, and hamachi. Leaving full and absolutely ecstatic from the experience!

Google
The food was wonderful from a flavor and presentation perspective. We tried the hamachi, pink scallops, oysters, lobster roll, and sardine toast. The flavor and presentation of the food is the main reason I am giving a 3 stars and not lower. The problem was we both left hungry. At most small plate restaurants we would have ordered more food if we were still hungry. Except we were told it’s best to “order everything at once” and everything would come out at its own pace. That pace was over 2 hours for 5 small plates at a raw bar. I have had full omakase experiences that have taken less time. We got our lobster roll at 7:55 (I know because I took a photo because it was so beautiful) and our next and last plate didn’t come out until 8:30. We left hungry because ordering more food wasn’t an option. We could have but would we have waited another 45min to get 2 more small plates? We didn’t want to risk it. It just wasn’t an efficient system and I wish it was a better experience. I would recommend cache cache for someone looking to enjoy drinks with friends and wants a little food and don’t worry about a slow dining experience.

Yelp
The good? This place is tucked away in a hide and seek space that is both cozy yet airy. The seafood is fresh and has a bright burst of the sea in every bite. The bad? They will be closing permanently tomorrow. I'm glad we were able to swing by to experience the delicious dishes here while we were able to. The albacore rillettes, hamachi crudo, half shell oysters, and shrimp cocktails were delectable. Our server was fantastic in making sure we were taken care of. They were super personable as well. There's QR code to order and pay within an app that only accepts ApplePay. We ordered cocktails from Fracture Brewing which paired well with our dinner. I'd say I'll be back, but unfortunately, that is not possible. Au revoir, Câche Câche!

Yelp
I've been dreaming about their Lobster Roll since I had one. The warm butteriness of the brioche toast, the cold creaminess of the fresh lobster -- I'm salivating now as I write this! Needless to say, if you go to Cache Cache, the Lobster Roll is an absolute must! We also got the half dozen oysters, the chicory salad with perfectly poached egg, and the crudo which consisted of scallops, hamachi, hibiscus, citrus, caper, and shallots. All the seafood was fresh, cold, and tasty. You can only order wine by the bottle here, and other beverages can be ordered from next door at Fracture Brewing Taproom. Service was friendly and knowledgeable! The space was fairly small, which created a more intimate ambiance. It looked like one side of the space also opens up, so probably a pretty cool spot to sip wine and enjoy seafood on a nice day!

Yelp
Oh my goodness. I have wanted to try this lobster roll for about a year now. Finally felt like this afternoon was the time to spend a rainy afternoon at Fracture Brewing and get one. Holy cow, so flavorful and delicious. Crispy toasted roll, perfectly seasoned/dressed lobster. $27 seemed like a lot and maybe it is, but it's a delightful indulgence and I'm here for it.

Yelp
Currently reservation only but definitely worth checking out if you love fresh raw seafood. My party of 4 got 2 bottles of wine reasonably priced at $30 each and the selection is well curated to go with the food. Everything is shareable and hot food will usually come out last. We loved everything we ordered which was almost everything and finished with the lobster roll. It left us wanting more! Service was nice and ambiance was lovely. Nice date spot or for a small group. We will be back soon!!

Yelp
Cute little place tucked behind all the food carts! All the seafood was extremely fresh; the oysters were super buttery. The lobster roll was cooked to perfection. Prob one of my favors in Portland! Good date night spot!

Yelp
Some of the freshest seafood I've had the pleasure of trying! Service was phenomenal. The space is beautiful with plants hanging overhead and windows open out to the open air. You can order cocktails at the brewery next door. I'm really sad that this place is closing but glad we had the opportunity to try it before they went away.

Yelp
Their take on the Lobster Roll was amazing. Everyone I was with loved their food. Great little place next to a bunch of food carts. The brewery next door had tasty beers. Will definitely be back. Took a minute to figure out that we had to order food and drinks separately, but once we were set up it was simple.

Yelp
The seafood quality and preparation here is on point. Rad concept, delicious af food, gracious, courteous and on point chefs making it and bringing it to you. Can't wait to eat here again!

Yelp
This is an interesting hybrid of a seafood bar and food cart. It's in the back of the Lil' America food pod and opens into the food pod area. But it is a full fledge restaurant with seating and a small open kitchen. Definitely quality seafood ingredients that translate into premium prices. Everything is simply presented to really let the quality of the ingredients shine. For example, the shrimp cocktail was popping into the fresh crispness of the poached shrimp tails. Probably the best shrimp cocktail I've had. The lobster roll is what everyone's posting on social media, and it is unusual with a hollowed out brioche loaf toast and buttermilk powder sprinkled at the end. It was a unique presentation but my lobster "roll" felt like they skimped on the lobster meat (so not really stuffed). It's self service but I found it's not really conducive to solo diners or even couples because the wine are sold by bottles only. So you end up having to order wine by the glass online from the adjacent Fractured Brewing and then you get a text to pick up at the bar when it's ready. I ate early so the ordering was seamless, but wonder what it would be like if the bar was super busy. The timing of the food and drinks might not complement each other since they're from two different places. Still, it's a nice place for a special treat or when you decide to try a food pod and decide you want something fancier.

Yelp
This was my second time here, because the first time was so good, I had to come back. We had oysters, prawns, sardine toast, the lobster roll, and the crudo. All were delicious, and the lobster roll and sardine toast were so amazingly good. The service was terrific, and I would highly recommend eating here. I'm looking forward to going back.

Yelp
To start, friendly staff. Our server, Ellie? They were so sweet, honest, and helpful! Cute date night kinda vibes, small tables, or community table seating. Wine by the bottle and our Ellie picked a good red wine for us that went perfect with our meal! Get the lobster roll, you won't regret it! Try the oeuf en gelee, one of the best things I've ever eaten

Yelp
Self service sucked. The QR code/ order link kept failing. When asked for help they seemed annoyed. Hamachi tasted like it was soaked in salt. The oysters were okay with the vinegar add on but by themselves too briny. Lobster roll was the "best" item but the cold lobster inside the warm toast threw me off. I did like the scallops! I kept seeing this all over everyone's feed so a bit disappointed with the experience.

Yelp
This spot was crazy, super confusing on where to go or sit. BUT the food was bussin for real. The bar that it is located in was really cute, service was also very interesting. Bartender will bring utensils over and you order and pay on your phone. Food was bomb, oysters fresshhhhhh
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
I think this chef needs a better venue. This is a glorified food truck with no real service - you order by the ever present yet incredibly tacky QR code. The menu is all seafood except for those random radishes but also a little disjointed. I think they should just do a traditional seafood platter and you add how many tiers you want.

Higgy H.

Yelp
So fresh, so good. So glad we went yum yum yum. Can't wait to go back Nice atmosphere as well.

Yelp
A hidden gem. Great service and fresh seafood. We had oysters, scallops and anchovies on ice. So delish and the spring radishes with butter were a treat. Loved the ambiance; casual but hip and teaming with people enjoying themselves. Go here!

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but the food wasn't great, the sardine toast was inedible and the lobster meat was just okay. More than that though the self serve or order from your phone was such a bummer. I really appreciate a good server and think it's tragic to not realize that a good server can make a mediocre meal better.

Yelp
Small space in the back of a bar with poor ventilation requiring us to move up front to the bar area @ Fracture Brewing to have dinner. Two orders of the signature lobster on brioche rolled out of the kitchen. After 40 minutes and a second cocktail ordered, the rolls were presented with about 4 ounces of day old stringy lobster perched on top of a brioche roll to make it look like double the amount of lobster. It didn't come close to mediocre and I could not see myself and my date wasting another $100 bucks. The two cocktails at Fracture were decent despite what otherwise was a bust. Don't waste your time at Cache Cache if your interested in quality. I don't think it is fixable.

Liam W.

Yelp
I went here with my brothers, and everything was great. Shrimp was amazing, best shrimp i've had in my life. Oysters and crudo were all great. Finished with sardine toast which was great. The cook/chef was a chill dude.

Vân V.

Yelp
Good food! Their Seafood is very fresh, especially the scallops. Now, next is the annoying part I wish they could have done better, ordering! They made us order by QR code, I get it! But at least build your own website. When I scanned, there was a link for us to download an app to order?! I and my friend were struggling with that because the internet was not good enough to be able to, when we finally downloaded it, we couldn't purchased. The check out part wouldn't let us finish! PLEASE, if you're able to open the restaurant with a really good food, don't let this kind of customer service ruin your store. And if it still going on, don't expect customers leave a 15% or 20% tips cuz definitely we are not satisfied with your service.

Amy P.

Yelp
We split a fish sandwich (think fancy and tasty version of a McD classic) and a lobster roll along with a bottle of wine and the choux fries. The "fries" were light and crispy and filled with gooey cheese. I could eat a dozen on my own. The fish sandwich was delicious and good size. The lobster roll was tasty but small with not much lobster. The bread to lobster ratio is definitely off especially for $25! The ambiance is chill. We hung out on the outside covered patio. I would definitely go back to order things other than the lobster roll.
