Cozy restaurant serving Mexican cuisine such as aguachile, plus mezcal, and tequila.
"If you can’t get to Talum for the holidays, you can still feel the spirit at Rodrigo Abrajan’s New Year’s Eve Fiesta, complete with a DJ and party favors. A three-course, $150 prix fixe kicks off with lobster ceviche enlivened with passionfruit, lychee, citrus, mango, and chile de arbol; nopalitos with Champagne vinaigrette; or corn soup with crabmeat. Entree selections include ravioli with huitlacoche and truffle; halibut with white chocolate mole and white asparagus; and bone-in short rib braised in beer. Chocolate lava cake with mole and toasted sesame ice cream is among the desserts. Those who prefer to avoid the hoopla can book until 7 p.m. for a choice of the a la carte menu or a $100 set menu." - Eater Staff, Beth Landman
"El Submarino wrote the book on Mexican ceviches a couple of years back, and so has Casa Bond, under Pueblan-born chef Rodrigo Abrajan, has rewritten it. His epic aguachile features premium ingredients like razor clams, octopus, and shrimp both raw and cooked, for a particularly opulent version of the dish. Duck in pink mole and tacos gobernador are two further dishes worth considering. Just off Bowery, the dining room is dark and elegant." - Robert Sietsema
"The original of this place, then called Casa Tulum, was flooded out at the Seaport, and we’re glad to welcome its successor to the Bowery. Chef Rodrigo Abrajan, originally from Puebla, takes aguachile upscale with octopus, razor clams, and shrimp in a tart bath featuring seven chiles. Other recommended dishes in elegant surroundings include lamb shank adobo, a classic enchiladas Suizas, and the churro cake for dessert." - Robert Sietsema
"The city’s Sinaloan menu has been expanding over the last few years, and one of its glories is tacos gobernador. This taco of shrimp, cheese, and chiles was invented to commemorate the visit of a governor three decades ago. The version at this Noho newcomer adds steak to the formula, and man are these tacos juicy! Baja fish and carne asada tacos, as well as Yucatecan panuchos, also available." - Robert Sietsema
"Is the rain starting to get you down? Are you already tired of the colder weather? Does the sun feel like it’s actually setting at 1:30pm these days? Cue a stylish Noho restaurant that’s inspired by Tulum. With palm fronds and wooden ceiling beams, Casa Bond looks like a good place to wear your oversized blazer and eat ceviche and lobster guacamole. " - Will Hartman, Willa Moore
