"Cauldron Ice Cream's grand opening was on March 2 at 3001 Knox Street, #103, Dallas. The shop offers nitrogen-frozen ice cream with flavors like Vietnamese coffee and Earl Grey lavender, served in unique "puffle" cones. Plans include opening six more Dallas-area locations over six years." - Adele Chapin

"Cauldron Ice Cream, a growing chain known for freezing its sweets with liquid nitrogen, will open its first DFW outpost on Knox Street. Cauldron Ice Cream’s wares are frozen right in front of diners’ eyes, and can be made in a bevy of sophisticated flavors, including Earl Grey-lavender, cereal milk, and rose. The freshly-frozen scoops can be served in a basic cup or the “OG Puffle Cone,” an egg waffle inspired by the popular Hong Kong street snack." - Amy McCarthy

Google
I wanted to like this place but… expensive ice cream, slowly created with nitrogen as you wait and wait, limited, confusing flavor selection. Didn’t taste very good. This place belongs in Vegas with a robot vendor. There is no replacement for looking in a giant freezer with 2 dozen flavors to choose from that are scooped out and served instantly at a fraction of the cost.

Google
It's fun to watch them make the ice cream, but to be honest, it just felt gimmicky rather than leading to a cool flavor. For example, I chose cereal milk, and I thought (since they make the ice cream to order) they would put the cereal bits in the mixer to integrate with the ice cream. Nope, it's just a regular ole topping like you can do at home. Why even bother making the ice cream to order if you can't add mix ins? The other downside about making it to order is they won't allow you to combine flavors or do multiple scoops. Again, if you can't customize, why bother making it to order.

We stopped in here after dinner recently and it was ok. When we arrived around 6pm, there was a sign on the door saying “they would return at 6:20.” No problem, we waited around at the tables outside until they opened. The ice cream was ok, but nothing we would stand in line for to get. We will give it another shot when we are back in the area.

Google
10 out of 10!!! Ordered the waffle with the Salted caramel scoop & it was a perfect hot and cold contrast. The waffle was crisply & the ice cream was well made and the best I’ve had. Loved the ambience of this place as well, highly recommend!

Google
This place used to be good, but unfortunately, its quality has seriously deteriorated. I ordered a medium Smore's cup, which used to be my favorite. The ice cream was severely over-churned, leading to a chewy, buttery texture instead of a creamy one. It was so hard and over-churned that my spoon could not even pick the ice cream up. Even worse--the mini marshmallows were stale and could not be chewed. I attached a photo--they could not be broken down and had the texture of old, hard chewing gum. In addition, they moved from having a person physically ordering to a Kiosk. It is nice to have a person to communicate with, especially regarding dietary restrictions. While I was able to flag down the worker, he was so busy as he was the only one there.

Google
We came in here today (Sunday 6/22) and had the sweetest girl help us. She took such care with her craft of making us the perfect Ice cream scoop!!! They give you so much ice cream on a single scoop. I had mint chocolate chip & it was phenomenal. My hubby had the cauldron and loved it. Service was spectacular and the ice cream was great! We will be back. Fun experience too!

Google
Ordered the double chocolate shake and it looked nothing like the picture. For ten bucks I could have made a way better shake at home. Even fast food places best this shake by miles.

Google
This little ice cream spot is nestled in a shopping district they have fancy nitrogen that produce the treats, and I had the smores ice cream. The marshmallow was toasted. It was delicious. I love there neon sign inside! I got a t-shirt from their establishment.

Yelp
I loved how refreshing this boba drink was. The tea base had a natural, fragrant taste, and the sweetness level was just right. The pearls were cooked perfectly, not too soft or too firm, with a nice chewiness that made the drink even more enjoyable. The flavors blended so well together, creating a smooth and creamy experience with each sip. It was a perfect balance of richness and freshness.

Yelp
I'm Uber sad to be writing this review... I don't get to come here often, so thought I'd bring my mom for an early mom's day treat to what used to be one of my favorites. The points/rewards system is no longer here... no bigggie. But the littles add up. The mochi puffle no longer exists. They don't cook the puffle long enough... it's not firm and falls apart, instead of the crisp edges and chewy bubbles. Stars and moon ice cream exists without stars and moon... The tables are all wobbly and very dirty. The prices have almost doubled, which is a bit excessive. I gave 2 stars because the lady that served us was nice and very friendly.

Phi N.

Yelp
I got the mango ice cream and couldn't taste much of the mango flavor, so I wish I had chosen another flavor. It was hot in the storefront that my ice cream came out a bit melted. My friend enjoyed her puffle ice cream but was told it was a churro puffle and it tasted plain. It's a cute ice cream shop but I would probably pick another ice cream shop if I'm ever in the area

Latoya E.

Yelp
Cute and small! This location is exactly what people need after a long day of work or play! Great place to take you family for a treat! The line can get a bit long but it is worth the wait. Check their menu before so you have an idea of what you'd like to help them with keeping the line moving.

Quyen V.

Yelp
Every time I come, they are close. Both times after 2 PM... The chairs are up and the doors are locked. Waste of time :(

Julia M.

Yelp
I like the fluffiness of the waffle and the ice cream paired with it. Although the place is on the pricer side and it was not too mind blowing

Jamie T.

Yelp
Employees are very nice, the dude at the register was very chill which I appreciate! The cauldron flavor is absolutely amazing, I would definitely get it again. The only downside to this location is that they don't have the Vietnamese ice cream flavor! Only reason why it's a 4/5 for me personally. It deserves a 5/5 in reality though. If you want to get the Vietnamese flavor, you have to go to the Carrollton location.

Cassedy C.

Yelp
With so many flavors and toppings to choose from, our choice was difficult. We stuck with a classic and got vanilla with Oreo toppings. This ice cream is frozen with liquid nitrogen, which they make right in front of you. Neat little spot for a quick treat!

Daphany B.

Yelp
Ice cream is super soft and melts fast. Nothing special about the flavor or texture in my opinion. I prefer my ice cream more on the firmer side as I'm not a fan of rushing to eat it before it's just melted cream. I feel like it was honestly a waste of $10. When I apologized to the polite cashier about not tipping today, she told me "it's okay, we don't get any of the tips" and that is a complete dealbreaker for me! Says a lot about the owners. Service 4/5 Ice cream 1.5/5 Ambiance 3/5 Will not return.

Jaylani M.

Yelp
I visited this ice cream shop Monday night January 20th at 9pm 2025 even though this shop closes at 10pm and i was refused service by a young latina girl. She gave me nasty look and closed the door after refusal of service.

Leslie W.

Yelp
My family and I visited after dinner for a sweet treat. The entire system is automated and easy to use. There's seating inside and outside the establishment. There's also a photo wall with their slogan.

Eddie I.

Yelp
First time trying this new place out! Stopped in late night to kill and ice cream craving I've been having and glad I did! When we walked in, the staff were super friendly, even right before closing time! Rarely happens! I got the Earl Gray Lavender ice cream that comes drizzled with honey in a waffle cone, it was the perfect late night snack to kill the craving! Lite on both the earl gray and lavender, perfectly balanced! They create a beautiful rose out of the ice-cream to let your eyes eat as well!

Bridget B.

Yelp
I have tried a lot of ice cream spots in the DFW and was really excited about this one; however, was unfortunately not as impressed as I expected. To preface, Cauldron is Instagrammable, clean, and has a lot of options along; however, service and value could use some attention. The staff is kind but not super helpful with menu recommendations. As the menu ranges from self explanatory options such as "old fashioned vanilla" to more indecipherable options like "sun moon and stars", I had asked for additional context around the latter options and was met with what felt like a verbal eye roll explanation. Additionally, I know the liquid nitrogen experience is part of the cost; however, with minimal enthusiasm, I can get a $6 single scoop somewhere else for better quality and experience.

John T.

Yelp
Horrible service Tried Uber and DoorDash as they just let it sit pending we canceled and drove to find not one light on. Don't believe their online hours they close at random. So don't waste gas and time when you can have something better and legitimately open when stated.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Love the ambience. The neon light is cools and the ice cream is so fresh they freeze it while you wait. The server was friendly and quick to take my order and the presentation of the ice cream I love because it's like being given a flower treat. The ice cream was just sweet enough and had a nice flavor. I'd eat it again for fun.

Jared M.

Yelp
Unique take setup, very cool with liquid nitrogen piped to several stations and. "Smoke" coming off the delicious namesake cinnamon vanilla cauldron on puddle cone. Cone was airy and light and delicious great combo with the signature ice cream. Also got salted Carmel, equally excellent. Service was good.

Lauren-Ashley B.

Yelp
The ice cream shop is a cute small little spot to see your ice cream being made freshly. I had the junior size bubble waffle cone with chocolate ice cream, Carmel, pecans and marshmallows. The ice cream was good and smooth, but I took 2 stars for the bubble waffle cone. Mine came dark almost burnt and it lacked flavor. It was wasted money. Service was good, I would give it another try.

Schuyler S.

Yelp
This is a small ice cream shop that has a long line...but it was worth the wait. I think they were short-staffed on this day. Cool machines you can watch make your concoction. So many unique flavor combinations and toppings. It's not gonna lick itself!

Lola B.

Yelp
Ice cream was ok. Every flavor of ice cream that we wanted they said they didn't have even though they were giving those flavors out to other customers before us and after us. Took about 45 minutes to get our ice cream.

Trey B.

Yelp
Fantastic ice cream. I got the s'mores ice cream with the puffle waffle cone. My buddy got the cereal killer with Fruity Pebbles and he said it was good. They make their ice cream with nitrogen and it's neat to watch them make it.

Ali L.

Yelp
Small, cute ice cream place! We went at night, and they were sold out of puffles and a couple of flavors, which was pretty disappointing, but I got the "Sun, moon, and stars" in a cup which was pretty tasty! It's a creamy tea flavor and I could actually taste the tea flavors, which sometimes I find lacking at other places. Service was okay, overall good ice cream.

James W.

Yelp
Service was horrible. Were not helped thru computer though it was our first time there, the person wouldn't help with our order, though he took everyone's order after us. We waited 30 min and he then said our order didn't go thru. We left... without any offer to help us. Will never go back.

Jordan C.

Yelp
The ice cream here is delicious, but they are always out of something!! I'd been wanting to try the earl gray ice cream on a puffle but they were out of both again. We ended up getting the Sun, Moon, and Stars which was super tasty. I wish I could buy it in a pint honestly. My only complaint is about the star sprinkles they threw on--the texture was off and it wasn't that enjoyable. We will be back, but maybe consider putting a sign out front with everything you're out of at the time.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Got the S'mores Ice Cream - it was delicious, but it had too many marshmallows for my liking lol and it was ridiculously sweet. Also tried the Matcha Red Bean - they didn't have any red beans when I was there, and I feel like the red beans would have heightened the taste of it. The matcha was pretty good nonetheless.

Megan N.

Yelp
Cool and delicious ice cream shop. Lots of flavor and variety. Service was friendly and fast. They make your order in front of you, so that was pretty cool. Worth a try!

Marlene T.

Yelp
Unique. Big scoops and decorated nice. Does take a long while to get your order since it's literally made fresh after ordering. Fun to experience but just have patience

Mary A.

Yelp
I finished running some errands and decided to treat myself with some ice cream. Cauldron was on the way home so I decided to stop by. When I walked in I understood the name instantly. They use liquid nitrogen to make the ice cream after an order is placed. I chose the earl gray lavender with honey. I chose to have it shaped into a rose. It was really pretty and it was as delicious as it looked. I love tea and floral flavored items but a lot of the time the flavor isn't strong. This is not the case at Cauldron. Both the earl gray and lavender flavor were prominent and delicious. And the honey complimented the flavors so well. I will defiantly be revisiting.

Jinyoung P.

Yelp
What a cute spot! I love love love the Vietnamese coffee ice cream here. I am intrigued by the Sun Moon & Stars and also kinda interested in the Earl Grey Lavender, but I love the Vietnamese coffee so much that I don't think I'm going to get to try any other flavor of ice cream. I was super late to the bubble waffle trend and it was my first time having it with my ice cream a few weeks ago. It was probably more carbs than I needed, after a full dinner experience, but I'm just eating my covid stress away, ya know? I love the rose design they do on the ice cream, and I also enjoy that you can customize your experience with different flavors for the waffle and any additional toppings. The only thing is that it's pretty slow, as they make the ice cream one by one, so don't go in a rush! Oh also, if I were to be picky, I'd say that the seating area could have been better taken care of. The tables were all pretty dirty and some of the napkin dispensers should have been refilled. But they were pretty busy when we were there, so I get it.

John S.

Yelp
Ice cream is so good but service is so slow. I love the cereal and milk with fruity pebbles. There is something for everyone in our family. Been twice, both times not super busy, and it's at least a 30 minute wait. Not sure if it always takes that long just due to the way the ice cream is made or if it's just slow because of who is on shift. We come every now and then and definitely try to come with its off peak. I would recommend it to anyone who likes ice cream and has time to spare. Still can't bring myself to give it 4 or more stars just because the wait is sooooo long.

Luke F.

Yelp
I spent 8$ on a small cup of ice cream from my pint. Stop the fluff and get me ice cream that tastes good and isn't all about the fluff.

Jackie N.

Yelp
Cauldron Ice Cream specializes in using liquid nitrogen to make your ice cream right in front of you. It's a pretty cool experience and worth the wait. The ice cream can then be formed into a rose. You have the option of putting it in a cup, on a cone or on a "puffle" cone which is a Hong Kong egg waffle. My sister and I chose the Sun, Moon and Stars flavor which is a blend of oolong, green and jasmine tea. Other ice cream flavors do change often but this one was on the official menu. The presentation is pretty but the ice cream was just alright. In some bites I can taste notes of the different tea flavors and in other bites I don't taste anything at all. Everything else about my experience was solid and I'm just a sucker for trendy places. You really have to try many flavors at an ice cream shop before giving it your final verdict. So with that being said, I'm hoping to come back again to see what else they have to offer.

Sylvia N.

Yelp
I recommend coming here on a hot day. I really enjoyed the flavor I got, Sun, moon and stars which is a jasmine tea base and added crumbled Oreos on top. Great service. I think we went when it was downtime, but it got busy after we got there. It's a small shop, but I will be back when my daughter and I go visit again .

Cayla Dee P.

Yelp
Goooo here! The ice cream is so thick, rich, and absolutely delicious. Instagrams worthy if your into that. Good vibes. Also, they have so many options, anyone can eat here. It is very filling and sweet. Recommend sharing...if you into that ;)

Noshin J.

Yelp
Amazing menu and flavors! Really enjoyed the "puffle" a puffed waffle cone! Cute concept and great treat! We had one scoop of the double chocolate shot with marshmallows and it was plenty for two!!

Rachel S.

Yelp
Best. Ice Cream. Ever. I adore both Lavender and Earl Grey tea and finding an ice cream that has both of those flavors in one was absolutely magical. Their Sun, Moon, and Stars ice cream is a close second favorite of mine. Because the ice cream is frozen with liquid nitrogen it has less air in it making it thicker and creamier than typical ice cream. It is more akin to gelato and just as delicious. I am a frequent and very happy customer. (FYI, it gets really busy in the evenings and later in the day they are more likely to run out of certain flavors or nitrogen)

Louis T.

Yelp
This place is a unique experience for ice cream lovers. They make the ice cream fresh in store when you order with nitrogen oxide. The waffle cone was made fresh and was warm when I got my order. The ice cream was perfectly creamy. It had a nice smoothness to it and melted in your mouth. It wasn't overly sweet. The cereal gave it a nice crunch and texture to the creaminess of the ice cream. The cone compliments the other ingredients well by added a cone flavor with breading like texture in the background. Piece by piece, bite by bite, it was a flurry of flavor dancing together on my taste buds. Great experience overall. I will go back for more. On a side note, the wait to receive your order might take a few minutes because they make everything as you order. It took about 5-10 minutes to get my order. There was 2 people in front of me.

Karen O.

Yelp
Limited indoor seating but has a couple outdoor tables. Puffle is made fresh and warm so small wait time for that.

Caroline N.

Yelp
Favorite ice cream ever! The texture is thick and luxurious while still being a soft serve. The flavors are very unique, but the bathroom is often out of order (the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5). I come here all the time.

Aaron C.

Yelp
Ice cream was delicious. I would give it 5 stars but the service was not so great. There was a young man in the back doing all the work while the two other employees seemed to be hanging out in the back. A young guy in a gray Texas long horns hoodie came out finally and was completely unprofessional. He handed me the ice cream, I asked a question, and he walked away when I know he heard me. He had his hoodie on the whole time. If I was the owner of this establishment I would be careful, you will lose many customers with the service that's being provided.

K B.

Yelp
Getting ready to move and wanted to visit one last time. Love the puffle and the cauldron flavor!! Didn't notice the sign that said they can't do puffle cones until I started ordering. Ice cream was okay. We got one small and a medium for $15. No extra toppings.

Hunter S.

Yelp
The best ice cream ever, especially love the lavender and Ear Grey one. Puffle cone is unique, I had the red velvet. Wish we had one of these shops in Oklahoma City!

Melanie T.

Yelp
The name was enticing enough to lure me in but I didn't know it would be made with liquid nitrogen. I ordered the milk and cereal ice cream with a bubble waffle and it was so delicious and tasty. The ice cream was super creamy so it felt like eating a soft serve ice cream. The flavor was just right and with the cereal topping on top, it was a perfect combination. The place was decorated for Halloween when I visited in October and it just fit with the name. If you happen to be in Dallas and you have a sweet tooth craving, I recommend you try cauldron out.

Chris M.

Yelp
Ice cream was really good and at a fair price. Went twice already, would go again. Got the s'mores the first time and the cinnamon Oreo the second.

Krista R.

Yelp
We came here a few days ago. I was worried because the reviews say it's just instagram ice cream. Everyone wants a picture of the "It's not gonna lick itself sign".. heh. 16 people inside at a time because of Rona. I wanted to try the puffle, but I felt bad for the folks waiting outside in 100 degree heat. The puffle takes a little longer than getting your ice cream in a cup. I got the sun, moon, and stars ice cream. It's a blend of oolong, jasmine, and green tea. Smooth, creamy, and yummy. I just wish the tea flavors were a little stronger. I liked it though. It was very refreshing on a hot day. It also didn't melt quickly, which is a plus. My son got chocolate and daughter got strawberry. I don't like strawberry ice cream, but I liked the strawberry ice cream here. The chocolate was super rich. I'll be back eventually!!

Stephanie C.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. True what other reviewers said, they were like out of everything. The one I wanted to try Earl Grey Lavender was there, but they were out of most flavors so my bf had to get The Cauldron, but wowww this flavor was unexpectedly delicious and not one we would have tried if weren't for them being out of a bunch of flavors. The cinnamon strangely went really well with the Oreo pieces in it. 10/10 for both flavors Early Grey Lavender and The Cauldron. It feels like a combination of Salt n Straw and Creamistry, which makes this place better than both imo. It's got the creative flavors like Salt n Straw does, but with the creaminess of Creamistry because if the liquid nitrogen they use.

Aaron M.

Yelp
Keep up the good work! This ice cream is awesome! Thanks for the hard work on making good ice cream!

Amanda L.

Yelp
I honestly was pleasantly surprised how good the ice cream was. We also got the churro bubble waffle and I would say I don't recommend that. Just stick with the ice cream. They have really unique flavors which is cool. Service is not bad, it's cute inside but really dirty when I went. Every table was sticky. But the ice cream was good!

Dustin C.

Yelp
Nice, little eatery, emphasis on LITTLE. The solo worker gave great service, and the ice cream was good, not great. Certainly not worth $10. It melted too quickly, and we were in the air conditioned store eating. I tipped 50% because I felt bad for the young man waiting on us, since he was rushing to take care of everyone and seemed flustered. After I had paid, he said they do not get the tips. I will not go back!

Kelsee J.

Yelp
The service was amazing! First time going. The lady helped out a lot. I had the red velvet puff waffle soooooo good. Everything was good lol. TRY IT won't regret. Great vibes.
