"Ceviche7 will test your patience. Every order—big or small—takes ages to come out. But once it arrives, all frustrations are forgotten. Hearts are warmed, bellies are filled, and a single dramatic tear of happiness rolls down the cheek of everyone involved. The thick-cut mahi mahi ceviche is among the best in town, and the salchipapas are the perfect savory combination of fried hot dogs slices and crispy french fries you’ll keep coming back to, time and again. Call ahead to shorten the wait time, then bring a book and get comfy. It’s worth it." - nicolai mccrary, clara wang
"Just a few blocks north of UT, Ceviche7 is a small Peruvian food trailer that’s only open in the evenings. The ceviche here is some of the best in town, but if you need something a little heartier to wrap up a long day of classes (or work), there’s also a full menu of things like lomo saltado and arroz chaufa. The wait times can get a bit long, so definitely think about calling ahead if you don’t want to spend too much time at one of the two tables out front. Or just place an order and kill some time with a margarita or two at Salsa Limon next door." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"A pint-sized Peruvian food truck just north of the University of Texas campus run by David Florez, best known for a lip-puckering ceviche de pescado; constrained truck conditions mean fish is kept frozen until an order is placed and preparation takes longer than in a full kitchen with walk-in storage, illustrating the operational challenges of seafood service from a mobile setup." - Lane Gillespie
"Parked outside of a lawyer’s office near the UT campus, this Peruvian truck serves wonderful mahi mahi ceviche garnished with plantains. Other South American dishes abound, such as lomo saltado and beef heart skewers, which pair well with its cans of Inka Kola. The tiny cart has only one picnic table, so you might want to (or have to) take your order to go." - Erin Russell
"We’re not sure what happened to Ceviches 1-6, but if they were involved in the lead-up to Ceviche7, then we’ll gladly tip our hats as necessary. Ceviche7 is a small Peruvian food trailer near campus that’s only open in the evenings. There’s a full menu of things like lomo saltado and arroz chaufa, but the thing to order is the ceviche de pescado—a beautiful bowl of diced mahi mahi, dressed in lemon and lime juice with spicy peppers and crispy corn nuts. But as much as we love the fish in this, the boiled sweet potatoes might be our favorite part of the whole dish—they add a perfect balance to the spicy, sour dressing.
