Creative New American fare with an extensive, value-driven wine list

"Chambers in Tribeca is a place to rub elbows with sommeliers from all over the city and people who regularly make seven-figure deals—all while admiring magnum bottles of green and yellow Chartreuse on the shelf. At this wine bar, a meal starts with She Wolf sourdough, but could go in any seasonal direction after that: squid rings with olives and sunchokes, or a roast chicken with spinach and sherry. Everything will taste good, but you’re really here for the wine list, especially the roughly 20 by-the-glass options. Those glasses start at $10 draft pours, and go all the way up to a $49 glass of 12-year-old savagnin. Whether you’re a wine nerd or not, it’s a nice place to spend an easy evening after work—especially at the marble bar. But an enthusiasm for talking varietals and terroir will help you appreciate this place more." - Will Hartman
"Chambers is one of the hidden gems of the city, offering food that’s unusually creative, replacing the usual charcuterie and tartines with seasonal vegetable melanges and main courses featuring steak and beans, both cooked to perfection. It’s one of the chillest spots in the neighborhood, with the kind of sign seen in old railroad stations next to the bar rolling out the specials of the evening. The wine and cocktail options are top notch. This is the kind of place you’d want to become a regular." - Robert Sietsema

"An urbane place to drink wine in Tribeca that holds its own as a solid neighborhood restaurant, Chambers offers “a maze of contrasting styles” of wine, says critic Robert Sietsema, including more tradition-bound vintners as well as a selection of skin-contact-, natural-, and organic wines. Glasses of wine start at $9 each, and seats at the bar and at a communal table are reserved for walk-ins after 6:45 p.m." - Eater Staff

"Under a new name, wine geeks far and wide can rejoice at the rebirth and return of the late Racines. In a space that feels cool without feeling cold, Master Sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier has built a wine program with adventure, back vintages and surprising affordability in mind. She moves around the room showing equal hospitality to industry insiders and wide-eyed enthusiasts alike. Meanwhile, the kitchen knows its boundaries, delivering seasonal, friendly dishes that never threaten to overpower what’s in the glass. Highlights include lamb with chickpeas and mint and, for dessert, a delicate mascarpone mille-feuille made out of shatteringly thin sheets of phyllo. For a nightcap, don’t miss the mind-boggling selection of chartreuse." - Michelin Inspector
"In terms of vintage depth, range, and thoughtfulness, my favorite wine list is at Chambers — sommeliers Pascaline Lepeltier and Ellis Srubas-Giammanco have built something pretty magical; you can pop in for delicious small plates (Jon Karis’ food is the kind of stuff I could eat every week) and even find an ’05 Tissot Trousseau or L’Anglore, and their focus on value in a city of inflated markups is very refreshing." - Amelia Schwartz
