"Chef Claude Troisgros opened what is perhaps the most personal restaurant of his career in the same building that housed his first place in Rio after arriving from France in the 1970s. Chez Claude is like an edible scrapbook of his cooking career throughout the last half century, serving all the classics, such as scallops with heart of palm, eggs with caviar, and quail with chard, chives, and bacon in grape sauce." - Rafael Tonon, Taylor Barnes

"Another offering from the Troisgros group, this simply arranged restaurant has a retro touch and one particular highlight - the open kitchen in the centre of the room enabling guests to view the cooking process. The modern-style, French-based menu recommends four dishes between two people, including delicious options such as langoustine with palm heart fettuccine and, for dessert, deconstructed millefeuille. Tables are assigned as guests arrive and they don't take reservations." - Michelin Inspector

"Claude Troisgros is one of the most beloved chefs in Brazil, and he has just debuted what is perhaps his most homey, comforting restaurant — in the same space where he opened his first business when he arrived in Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s. A member of France’s renowned Troisgros family, he chose Rio to live and create his food empire. Now, with Chez Claude, he serves a greatest hits of his signature dishes from the last four decades: the scallop with palm heart, the haddock mousse in tucupi sauce, and the quail with grape sauce, chard, chives, and bacon." - Rafael Tonon

Another Michelin guide Chez Claude, was interesting how the food has different flavours combinations. The food was very good the duck with passion fruit and the steak tartare were amazing and tasty. I will go back!

The people that run this place respect the culinary arts and it shows by all of the attention to detail. Incredible restaurant. The food delicious. Top tier French food. Great service.

Google
A great place with good food and great atmosphere. I had the red snapper and it was so delicious. The large ravioli was unique and the perfect starter. We ended with the crepe and was so yummy.

Inventive but not overly impressive food. Nice ambience. I wasn’t blown away. But it was still good!

The food is absolutely stunning in Chez Claude. Michelin star worthy. The Shrimp and Truffle Risotto is probably the best risotto I’ve ever had, and the Roast Duck will change your life.

Chez Claude is one of my favourite dining experiences anywhere. The food is amazing, the drinks are well-made and they have a great space with an open kitchen. Bonus: I highly recommend checking out their restaurant speakeasy—you need to walk through the kitchen to get to it. What an incredible concept!

Food was very good - highlights were the ravioli, Magret with passion fruit puree, and cheesecake with canastra cheese. The fondant and drinks were also divine Service was not good at all. Waiter seemed tired, and was very inattentive. Upon entering the restaurant he placed us in between two tightly packed tables, even though there were many other tables free, with more space around. Upon asking to move tables halfway through the dinner, as there was an extremely loud and rude gentleman sitting next to us, I had to ask twice, only to be met by an extended “stop” hand by the waiter the second time I asked. We were unable to move tables, and the waiter never followed up to even confirm if it was possible. After deciding to pay him 10% service, (out of respect and solidarity as the service honestly didn’t deserve it), instead of the 12% suggested by the restaurant, he came back and asked us why there was an amount missing. Totally unprofessional. The atmosphere was also rather stuffy, (we sat outside), and our chairs/table were placed over a sewage grate. When we were seated, my partner’s chair was placed right over the sewage grate, so that the leg of the chair fell right through the hole of the sewage grates opening. After seeing this, the waiter made no effort to change our tables either, and did not even apologize. The restaurant needs to improve the service and atmosphere to respect its amazing cuisine. We came here for a date night, and I would not recommend it for this type of occasion. The environment was anything but romantic.

The best gourmet food I've had in Brazil so far. Absolutely everything that we ordered was mouthwatering. Their menu is very well put together and innovative. There is a mix of Brazilian ingredients that come together in dishes which are hard to find elsewhere. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
This was the best meal I had in Rio. Absolutely exceptional. I had the duck, and it did not disappoint! Their very cool experience of getting to see the chef cook your meal in front of you really made this dining experience one of a kind. Our service was great and I like the intimacy that the restaurant ambiance had to offer.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food here, though some dishes were a bit salty for my taste. The ambiance was awesome - very upscale but in that wonderfully laid back Janeiro way. The octopus rice and mussels were my favorites. Husband ordered an Uni dish which was a bit too much for me. The tuna tartare was really good. Like many other places, English can be a challenge. My husband tried ordering several special using google translate but the waiter kept coming back to say they were out. I wouldn't say service was 'slow' but it isn't fast either, rather laid back.

Yelp
This recommended by the 50 best of the world, not on the list but recommended. But I don't think I would recommend to my friends. You would think a upscale restaurant like this will have a good service, but there's only one waiter barely speaks English so I could barely understand when he came over to tell me the specials and what they ran out. So apparently after asking twice and a lot of google translate we found out a lot of things are already out. The portion of the food are also pretty small for its price. Very small menu nothing really special. The octopus rice is very salty I need a lot of water to wash it down.

Yelp
An interesting blend of French and Brazilian cuisine. The dishes have a lot of flavor and interesting textures. My favorite was the steak tartare and shrimp (camarao) risotto. Good selection of wines although there didn't seem to be a way to order a bottle of wine. Everything listed was by the glass. I did see other tables with bottles so this could be a stupid tourist mistake...

Yelp
Impossible to reach them by phone. For a reservation or to ask for changes. I called them 10 times today to make a request but they were either not picking up or I got a busy signal. Tip to owner: answer your phone. Or get off it.

Yelp
In New York, this would be the #1 Brazilian restaurant. Chef Jessica is providing uniquely phenomenal dishes. Entire staff was attentive but unobtrusive, and above all genuinely lovey people.
