Callie x Chick & Hawk collab was one for the books, two amazing chefs coming together for an unforgettable night. Travis and Andrew both know exactly what they're doing! 5 course preset meal, every dish better than the last. The service is always on point, I just cannot complain. 4th time here this year and if Travis has any more collabs cooked up that number just might go up. Andrew 'the birdman' was phenomenal, best chicken sandwich my dad and I have tasted in San Diego! Keep up the great work. I can't wait to try more of Chick & Hawk's menu when I visit their establishment.

Yikes. No seasoning or culture

I can't pretend to be a chicken sandwich connoisseur but I thought it was pretty good, at least a 7/10. Really crunchy, sauce does unfortunately pool to one side of the sandwich because it's served vertically BUT it was indeed saucy once flipped around lol. I had heard people complain about the first spice level (360) being too spicy which is hilarious. Definitely not spicy at all, the 360 is a fine place to start. The next spice level up (720) would have been perfect I think. Cons are definitely the parking situation but overall I thought the food was good, and everyone who works here is really sweet.

My wife and I have been looking forward to checking this place out since we first heard about it. We finally got a chance last week, and it was....."interesting". We arrived after 2pm on a Friday. NO parking - they are nice enough to put up a sign detailing where to go look for a spot - but I cannot imagine hitting this place up at lunch or dinner - you'd be in for a very long walk. We were seated quickly by a very bubbly waitress, and checked out the menu - as you can see from the photos posted, there's not a lot to it. We both ordered the Birdman - her's was the "360", mine was the "720" heat level. I was warned (heavily) that this is a REALLY hot level, and was a sure? (I was). We also ordered the spicy fries, and then I did the inconceivable - I asked for a diet soft drink. Turns out I must be the only person in SD County that doesn't like sugar in my soft drinks - because it's not an option here. So we both stuck with water. Ok - that's the set up - let's take a look at the actual review: The good: The fries are simply amazing. Truly. Top ten level, IMHO. The bad: While EVERY "Birdman" competitor out there within a 50 mile radius of this place uses white meat, Chick & Hawk uses dark meat. To each his own on this - but it DEFINITELY should state this clearly on the menu. I personally despise dark meat, and wouldn't have ordered it had I known. A good example is Main Chick Hot Chick - the clearly state they have a white meat sandwich and a dark meat sandwich. The ugly: $18 for a chicken sandwich? Yes, we went in knowing this - but had assumed that for that price we'd get bowled over by the sandwich. We weren't - and given that the above mentioned Main Chick is less than 1/2 the price, and (IMHO) WAY better, this is just ludicrous. I'll finish with an FYI - that "720" spice level? It's not. I'd equate it to the heat level of a moderate jalapeno (for those who know the Scoville scale, about 5000). DEFINITELY not worth the intense warning. Bottom line, even with the truly amazing fries - no sugar free soft drinks, a mediocre chicken sandwich that is over double the competition, and no parking - it's worth checking out, but I honestly doubt we'd hit it up again.

Decided to visit the Tony Hawk restaurant this weekend. Pros: -friendly staff! -I'm not a chicken sandwich person but I enjoyed it. It had a great crunch. I ordered the 720 spice, which had a little spice to it. I'm used to spicy foods so I could have gotten the spiciest option. Cons: -not a lot of parking stalls in their lot. You may need to park further away like I did. Be mindful of parking in residential that have signs that say no parking.

This has been our list since my husband first heard about it. We made a same day reservation and asked some friends to join us so we could try more of the menu. The hostess was able to accommodate the change and was very friendly. It's a fairly small restaurant so I'd recommend reservations. So much to look at inside. The bar it awesome. It's like the edge of a pool. Also beware that parking is also limited. Once we were seated we were given ice water in these cool old school plastic cups. Our waiter was super friendly and answered all of our questions about the menu. He even offered some milder spice levels not mentioned in the menu which we all appreciated. We ended up ordering the following: Sunomomo Pickles - so good! Just try them. Maitake Bo Ssam - I love maitake mushrooms so I had to try this. I'm not usually a huge fan of shiso leaves but I had to give it a shot. It was absolutely delicious! This combo just works. My hubby who hates mushrooms had to give it a try because it is so out of his wheel house but he loves the concept of the restaurant and he ended up loving it so much that he wanted to order another. Everyone at the table loved it. You gotta make sure to load your shiso leaf with all the toppings and a little squeeze of lime and eat it like a taco. The Birdman with zero spice. Yes it's an option. You can also go 180 spice. The lowest spice on the menu is 360 which we were told was like a 5 out of 10. It was served piping hot which I totally appreciate. You can tell the expediting team is on point here. The chicken was so juicy! Perfectly dressed and the combo just worked so well together. The Seabird (Blackened) was such a gourmet fish sandwich. The fish was so buttery and worked well with the avocado and crispy shallots. Kinda bummed I didn't order this for myself. Next time for sure. Spicy Duck Fat Frites Level 180 spice. Served hot from the fryer. Perfectly crisp outside and tender inside. Larger than shoestring but not steak fries. Maybe like a fat shoestring? LOL Mildly spiced and went great with their ranch. Spicy Duck Fat Frites Level 0 spice. I think I slightly preferred this version better. Served hot from the fryer. Love the crispness of the exterior with the tender interior. They stayed crisp through the whole meal. Virgin Bones Brigade - Our server mentioned we could get virgin mocktails so I had to try one. Bones Brigade was great. It was tart and sweet and served with the good crunchy ice. We will for sure be back! Oh and make sure to check out the restrooms. Mirrored ceiling and the raddest sink you'll ever see.

Chick and Hawk has been in the works for well before the pandemic and finally it has opened. We made reservations fearing that the walk-in line would be too crazy. We were seated in the side section as opposed to the main dining area. The main area has a lot of retro neon skateboard vibes which was really cool. The side section wasn't too special, however the window looking out was extremely disorienting as it makes looking out very blurry. Our server was friendly and walked us through the menu. The Duck Fat Fries are a must get! I really enjoyed the seasoning they put on it. They were very addicting. Not a fan of having an upcharge on the two additional sauces $1.50 each (Comeback & Yogurt Cool Ranch). Out of the 2, the ranch was the better one. The server told us that you can actually get the Birdman sandwich as a 180 version (which is even less spicy than the 360). Not sure why it's not listed on the menu, but our group got both the 360 and the 180. I got the 360 and to me it was the perfect amount of spice. The server did warn that the 360 is already good for most people so she was spot on. As far as the spice and seasoning, that was by far the best parts of the sandwich. The chicken, which should be the highlight of the meal, was the most underwhelming part of the whole meal. I struggle to define the texture of the meat, but it was almost "too" tender and pulled away to easily. If I were blindfolded, and someone told me this was "Fake/Impossible" chicken, I honestly would have believed them. Fairly disappointing experience, but we did get catch a glimpse of Tony Hawk while we were there.

Hot off the press Chick and Hawk flew out of the coop! Great vibe and great energy! Downside is soft opening long lines for seating and long wait times for the food. Total seating is limited and patio is small, very windy and cold during the fall and winter. Dog friendly but seating is tight so leave your pupper at home! Food is good! Obviously, pricing is out of the park but I would come back on a special occasion. We tried a bit of everything. Super chicken, fish burger, fries and Bo Ssam! The fish burger needed more tartar sauce so asked for an extra sauce on the side! The fish itself was dry. My favorite is the vegetarian mushroom Bo Ssam! I could eat that everyday! Must order! So refreshing with the green leaf dipped in sauce.

Food: juicy fat chicken sandwich was delicious and so were the fries. We ordered cocktails as well, they were refreshing! Service: Excellent Service Ambiance: Vibe is chill and fun Noteworthy:Limited parking, we parked in the neighboring street and easy walk.

Love this concept and name so much. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall when they first came up with the idea. Vibes on point. Food outstanding. Service was top notch. Let's break it down: That spicy chicken sando and the mushrooms were outstanding. Got super lucky to get a table straight away during opening weekend while I'm visiting. What a cool spot. I was sweating the entire time eating that sandwich but in the best sort of way. Lowkey sad there wasn't a half pipe the parking lot, but hey, maybe that's in the works. Glad I got my hands on some merch.

the long awaited, much anticipated CHICK & HAWK, a joint project from Michelin-starred chef, Andrew Bachelier, and local skateboard legend, Tony Hawk, is finally open. drove down Leucadia Blvd dozens of times to check if they'd unlocked the doors yet. took an eternity to get the permits handled and pay off the inspectors. have you seen "Nonnas?" pretty much how I remember the process from my opening-new-restaurant days. Liquid Death Mountain Water blows goats. way too minerally and metallic for my taste buds. premix carbonated water from the soda machine and a lime wedge, and I'm good. the SPICY DUCK-FAT FRIES were GBD but not very spicy. I don't particularly care but it seems like an over-promise and then under-deliver situation. why do restaurants call something "spicy" then cater to the lowest common denominator? there's a "not spicy" duck-fat fry option so they don't need to cloud the issue making promises they don't intend to keep. the menu's limited. the concept's well executed. the cocktails and food tasty. the place was packed the afternoon we were there. everybody was enjoying themselves and generally having a grand, old time. nearly twenty bucks for a chicken sandwich (before tax and tip) seems pricey, but if you can get past the sticker shock, THE BIRDMAN (Nashville inspired Hot Chicken Sandwich with Napa slaw, pickle slices, and comeback sauce on a potato bun) is really good. offered at three different spice levels depending on your heat tolerance. no new restaurant can live up to the level this place was hyped to, but CHICK & HAWK comes close.

Fun new spot with bright and stimulating environment! No wait for Sunday lunch spot with friends. The fries were the highlight with a lot of exciting flavors - including the comeback sauce. We didn't order a cocktail this time, but may return to try the variety of interesting combinations. Great service and clean bathrooms. However - set your expectations when coming here! An all star skateboarder and Michelin star chef team with overpriced/limited menu. It's crack shack but smaller and less options - see photo. Check out Manna or Campfire for fine dining...not overpriced casual.

I was extremely excited to try this place -- my wife and I both were. Maybe we had high expectations since it's a Michelin-star chef, so I was expecting the best chicken burger of my life. But for $18 plus tax, and then paying separately for fries plus one Coke, the total came to $65 with tip. Very expensive, so I thought: okay, it better be worth it. We tried. The fries were good, but nothing extraordinary. Then... the burger. So disappointing. Honestly. My chicken came with a lot of fat. Yes, it's a chicken thigh, but come on -- they really should offer a thigh option and a breast option. Not everyone wants that amount of fat. I didn't feel it was worth the price and again, I really suggest adding a chicken breast version to the menu. The cocktail, however, was pretty good. I'd say it was the best part of our experience. That was it. Service was good. Ambience, love the atmosphere and skateboards -- but too small. Really crowded.

The chicken burgers were crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Awesome, just be aware of your spice preference. The dick fat fries were crispy but a little too salty. I would definitely eat here again. The service was fast.

An excellent Chicken Sandwich in a unique concept. The service was over the top outstanding during their opening. The hiring person did a stellar job as each employee was helpful/friendly during my interaction. I ate the sandwich in about 12 bites couldn't have taken more than 90 seconds to down. Zero complaints, it was stellar and great tasting. Ill be back to try a beer and unique mixed drinks. I have stopped at that Starbucks off the 5 at Leucadia over 100 times and have never ventured west. So many dining options in the area. Parking is inconvenient but it adds to the experience. Neat interior and appreciated the outdoor seating. Was that location an old Taco Bell? I did notice several comments about the prices. Chicken sandwiches are expensive in general look at Dave's Hot Chicken prices and other competitors. $18 is a fair value, Ill be back.

My son and I have been waiting for Chick & Hawk to open on Leucadia Boulevard, and we finally made it in for an early dinner. We didn't know what to expect, only that we were here on a mission: he came specifically for the Birdman 900, and I came to see what this new spot was all about. We were seated quickly and had time to take in the interior -- a fun, nostalgic mix that immediately signals you're in Tony Hawk territory. The design has personality, color, and a sense of play. If you step out back, the atmosphere gets even better: bold murals, skate culture references, and artwork that's clearly rooted in the history of the scene. The space feels built for both locals and fans -- the kind of backdrop where you naturally end up taking photos without even intending to. We ordered: an Ecto Cooler and the Birdman 900 for my son, and the plain Tony Hawk's thigh for me. The wait was exactly what you want from a kitchen that cooks to order -- long enough to know it's fresh, short enough to keep anticipation alive. During that time, nearly every team member stopped by at some point to say hello or chat. There's an energy here, especially when someone orders the 900. You can feel the staff rooting for your experience. The cocktail arrived first. Watching my son navigate the flavors of the Ecto Cooler was its own entertainment -- layered, bright, and surprisingly complex. Then the food arrived. My thigh was cooked absolutely perfectly: crisp, balanced breading, and moist white meat that tasted cared for. But the moment of the night was the 900. My son -- who has tried serious spicy chicken sandwiches across multiple states -- kept saying "this is good" with increasing disbelief. At one point, the sandwich was so good it brought actual tears to his eyes. He paused, looked up, and told me he had just taken one of the best bites of a chicken sandwich in his life. From my son: "I couldn't stop smiling. The flavors and spices sent waves of pleasure that tickled my brain. This was one of -- if not the -- best chicken sandwiches I've ever had." When we finished and walked towards home, the light rain didn't matter. The experience had already set the tone. Chick & Hawk delivered genuine joy -- the kind you talk about afterward. We'll be back. Absolutely. A big thank-you to Chef Andrew, Jesse, and the entire team. Go Chick & Hawk!

The Good: The Birdman 360 was pretty big, okay spice level, probably could've gotten the 720 and been fine. It's a dark meat sandwich which I liked. Eyrie fries were as described. I thought it was a solid offering. I ate it to go rather than inside. Back side has a to go order window. Small spot but full on concept/ambiance of the skate culture. The Bad: Parking is pretty bad, one handicap spot and about 7 actual spots. Think about parking elsewhere. The phone number didn't seem to work so it was difficult to judge how crowded it could be. You can grab a reservation via the Google page. The Okay: Value is a little bad. 18 for the sandwich alone could be problematic. I think they're a little late to the chicken sandwich game as well. Staff is still a bit fresh but I'm sure they can work out the kinks. Other: If you know anything about this place, the absolute song and dance that it took to open this place was massive. Delays, permits, regulations, everything. I really hope it does okay only because of the effort it took and at least the perception of Tony Hawk being attached to it (popularization of skate, skate parks, the games even though there are many others like Mullen, Bam, Muska, Burnquist, etc) However, I wouldn't go back unless I was in this area just due to the parking situation. I SAW TONY HAWK THOUGH!

I went this weekend. Sunday around 5 wasn't that crowded. got seated right away ordered chicken Sandwich I got the 360 sauce. Which is twenty dollars didn't even come with french fries cooked well but it's too hot no flavor staff was very rude. They all have a skate punk attitude lots of standing around and you can hear their conversations. This place can learn a lot from chick fil where the staff is friendly and the chicken sandwiches half the price and taste better it was a real bummer, was looking forward to this place to do well. Parking is very bad as well.

If you haven't hit Chick & Hawk yet, you're missing out on one of the hardest-hitting food spots in Southern California. Their chicken sammies are on a completely different level -- pasture-raised chicken, perfectly seasoned, juicy, and fried with that crisp that somehow stays light. Every bite tastes like someone took the idea of a chicken sandwich and decided to evolve it into its final form. Their salads? Don't sleep on them. They're fresh, loaded, balanced, and actually something you crave instead of tolerate. You can tell they use real ingredients, handled right -- clean flavors, big portions, and nothing lazy about them. And the duck-fat fries... man. Absolute game changer. Crispy, rich, salty, and straight-up addictive. You get this deep, savory flavor that regular fries only dream about. It's like the fries grew up, went to college, and came back with wisdom. The whole place feels intentional -- from the ingredients to the technique. It's comfort food but leveled up with real craft. Chick & Hawk isn't just good; it's destination good. Go hungry, leave converted.

I dined here for dinner. I waited a few weeks after they opened, for the restaurant to work out the little problems. I think they are on track to being a very successful restaurant. My date and I ordered the chicken sandwich (360 - he said it was quite spicy), the Japan Air cocktail (I loved the cocktail but the overall cocktail menu was all over the place - I wanted to order a 10/10 cocktail but Japan Air was a 7.5 overall). Since I'm gluten free, I ordered the Kona Bowl vegetarian style (no chicken and no fish). I'm not a big seafood person but the addition of albacore is also gluten free for those reading. The Kona Bowl vegetarian style was outstanding! I would come back to order this dish again. Great flavors and freshness. Lastly, we ordered the duck fat fries with ranch sauce. The sauce was very nice, but the fries felt like an overindulgence of greasy fries. I think I should have gone with a half order of fries because the full order was too large for the two of us. My two complaints are that the restaurant feels greasy: the patio windows had greasy fingerprints, the dining counters were greasy, and the bathroom floors are a little greasy too. I realize this is a bit pedantic. My other complaint is that the restaurant is cold at night, and the food and atmosphere feels cold due to the ocean air drafts. Perhaps they could offer a nice soup or other warm dishes for winter (maybe even a gluten free beef burger?). I'd love to feel a bit of heat while I'm dining too. I think the restaurant sits in a bit of a microclimate where cold wet air can gather. Service was a 10/10 so that says a lot about a new busy, buzzy place.

Fun spot, in a great location near the PCH on Leucadia boulevard. Went during the soft opening weekend and ordered to go from the back window. Ordered the Birdman chicken sandwich and duck fries. The sandwich was fairly big and really good. The fries were pretty mediocre and kind of crazy they were $12. The birdman also was $18, which is on the higher end

Bad yucky chicken for a Michelin chef. Go back to your Jeune et Jolie & Campfire playbook- er recipes....PLEASE!!! Or go to the Crack Shack for some culinary creativity on chicken, because this is not IT!!!! I had the signature "Birdman" ($18) dry tasteless chicken and spices too hot to eat, two bites in, I could not eat. Server saw that I wasn't satisfied and took it away. Hubs had the same, he said the same. Duck fat frites for another $12, was really dried out and not seasoned at all. I should have tried the fish sandwich or tuna tataki. Very limited menu, but $15 cocktails were good.. Ambiance is retro disco era with the pink/purple lighting and "IKEA-like" decor, seats and all the colorful wire caging. I wish they had bar seating, that would really help that long bar and for locals who just want a cocktail and to chill. We are very hesitant to come back until they get the menu and service act together.

Our food was delicious! We were lucky enough to dine during a soft opening and they definitely have it nailed down tight. The Birdman is delish. Spicy enough at Level 1 and if you are a no-spice person recommend going sans spice. Accompanied with the duck fat fries and they were so good! Chips & Caviar are excellent as were the mushrooms. The cocktails did not disappoint - overall an awesome dining experience. I grew up in Cardiff back in the 80s, so I especially loved the decor. Great job!!

Food was good, not excellent But, $75 for 2 chicken sandwich's and 2 fries, no drinks, way too expensive . Went once, won't go again. Good luck attracting repeat customers with those prices.

Wanted to support a new local restaurant. Cute & casual, typical So Cal surfer town vibes. Friendly service. We each had a Birdman and a cocktail. Shared sunomono pickles and duck fat fries. Pros: quick service good cocktails Cons: Tap water.. if you want to charge $18 for a chicken sandwich, I expect at least good filtered water Chicken sandwich was pretty wet, maybe because of too wet coleslaw. Chicken was a bit undercooked Duck fat fries were overly seasoned that totally diminished the rich duck flavor Overpriced for what you get Staff was lounging in the restaurant, chatting loudly while customers dining. Don't they have a break room? Will I go back? Nah. Go to Crack Shack for wider variety of better foods.

Went to soft opening so didn't expect perfect in the way of organization and service. They did do a decent job and will only get better. The Birdman 360 was good as always. Will have to try there fish sandwich version of this next.

FANTASTIC all around! Worth the wait! Food, staff so damn good! The portions are generous so come hungry.

Shocked the overall rating isn't better here. We had a great experience. Parking is tough so don't expect to get in the lot but street parking is very walkable. There was a line but it moved fast (get reservations or waitlist yourself on the way!), and even though the place was quite busy the whole time we were there the service was ON IT. No notes. I LOVE a good highbrow/lowbrow experience and this place delivered. Walking in feels like you're headed to a fast food joint after high school in the 80s/90s. The menu makes you feel like you're doing it with adult money. No frills but not uncomfortable. Surprisingly great value for the money as the portions are huge; more like a pterodactyl sandwich TBH. The bar program is approachable enough and also developed enough for everyday and cocktail snob outings. The fries are perfect. The pickle app is no ordinary affair - just get them. The chicken sando is what I'd describe as an elevated Nashville style with THIGH not breast (so disappointed when it's other way round), and your NON-standard slaw and pickles that have a unique twist. It's a fresh and refreshing take on what could otherwise be a saturated hot chicken market. Protip: don't take her out of the wrapper, folks; she's a messy girl. Maddie helped us navigate the menu options, gave great advice, and was generally just a blast during our visit. The other thing that gives me life about this place is that we have a local celebrity chef and a local celebrity turned restaurateur investing in this community who (as far as I can tell) are pretty unproblematic in the way they conduct themselves in the world and expand their businesses, which seems to be getting rarer and rarer around here.

This place recently opened and they have amazing arrive already. Tried the Birdman on a level 360 and 720 and would definitely go for the 720 again if you love that tolerable spice. The sunonomo pickles were also to die for. Super crunchy with a sweet and zesty touch to them! Pictured with the spicy duck fat fries! Drink is the dying to live. Also 10/10! Would definitely come back!

The soft opening happened a while ago and my partner and I stumbled in. The hostess was very nice and welcoming but it was sort of downhill after that. We ordered the $6 pickles, $6 duck fat fries and the $18 chicken sandwich. The pickles, although nice and unique idea, served as a underwhelming starter as it was a small portion size and felt out of place on the menu. It would be perfect as an included side to the sandwich as many traditional Japanese places may serve daikon as a free side traditionally already. The fries were okay, the duck fat takes too much flavor away from the potato which makes you feel like you're eating crunchy oil at this point. The spicy ketchup provided was a highlight to mask that flavor of the fries. The sandwich suffered the most. I know why they use dark meat to enhance the flavor but the tang of the seasoning with the combination of Asian slaw makes the flavors drown each other out. Overall the food just lacked the right amount of balance in terms of taste and texture. This place is probably better to sit down and enjoy a drink than a meal. Look was clean and trendy but at times almost seemed like you're stepping into a private hospital. Hopefully they choose to introduce different options and consider simplicity over experimental elevation.

The food's insane - tried the Birdman sandwich and it's a game-changer. The vibe's rad, with skate culture all around. If you're in Encinitas, DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!

Okay, so we waited a long time for this to open! A really long time. Critics say they are late to the game for a chicken restaurant. Others bash prices. I had been to a pop-up prior, but today we officially dined at Chick & Hawk. Please understand, this is not fast food. This is a dining experience with full service and a full bar with a fantastic craft cocktail menu. Ash, our server, was fantastic. I had the Shorebird fish sandwich (blackened) and it was really great. I also had the Maitake Bo Ssam mushrooms. Heather went for chicken strips and fries as she was avoiding spicy food. So the atmosphere is really cool. I love the coping and Del Mar Skatepark inspired tile and coping. Be sure to check out the bathroom sinks!! When you put the entire experience into perspective, the pricing works. Not cheap, but premium. Chef Andrew even visited us. Do note: The parking is a disaster! We watched people block the driveway and have to back onto Leucadia Blvd to let people out of the small lot. We will be back.

I wasn't able to place an order online and no one answered the phone so my husband drove there to place an order in person to go for our family of 5. We ordered the Birdman spicy level 1 and it was absolutely inedible. Our whole family loves spicy food and we couldn't eat even half of the sandwich and got really sick afterwards. We had to throw all the food away. I couldn't even call to give feedback because no one answers the phone.

So unique and the place gives such great 90's vibes! The food is delicious and the service was great!

Super rad vibes (Encinitas style on point), Epic craft cocktails and the perfect concise menu all done with Michelin flare. Been anxiously awaiting this opening as we live in the hood and it exceeded all expectations. Neon, skate vids, intimate atmosphere and chill staff and music. It's truly the perfect date night spot or place to go for just a perfect chicken sandwich that's doesn't make you feel sick after. Turns out a world class chef knows what he's doing with casual eats! Bravo and cheers to long success in Leucadia.

Came here for lunch and it definitely hit the spot. Had the Birdman chicken sandwich with the 360 sauce... Amazing. They had a cocktail that looks like a Baja blast... Delicious.

I went to the soft opening yesterday and I got lucky with parking and found a spot right away. The restaurant has a nice vibe inside with the TVs added for a design and there is a cool mural outside. The table we were seated at was a bit small for all our food but we managed. As far as the food, I already tried the chicken sandwich a few years ago at a pop up and wasn't really a fan of it. I tried it again and honestly had the same thoughts. The chicken isn't the best nor is the batter and I have had better sandwiches elsewhere. We also ordered the blackened fish sandwich and that one was good. We also got the kona bowl salad and it was delicious although I would prefer the dressing to be on the side. We also ordered the duck fat fries and it was disappointed. It was way overly seasoned and dry to the point you can tell they weren't freshly made and for $12 is not worth it. The rest of the food is also expensive including the sandwiches since no sides come along with them. The service was decent but could have been better. I hope others will have a more enjoyable experience than myself as the food taste is subjective and the food could improve once they have their grand opening.

One of the best chicken sandwiches with the perfect amount of spice. The spicy duck fat fries and maitake bo ssam (mushrooms) were also delicious. Highly recommend!

This place is amazing. The food is great. Chicken sandwich is off the wall. The french fries or some of the best I've ever had service was awesome very attentive. The parking was a little tight. There is only 10 spots but the way they decorated and everything is super awesome makes you feel like you're back in the Tony Hawk game.

I'm honestly not sure what's more insulting: the price of the menu or the expectation that we're supposed to pretend this food has flavor. The chicken sandwich had a funk that definitely wasn't on the ingredient list, and the breading was so salty and greasy it could've powered a small generator. With all the time, money, and "celebrity chef" fanfare behind this place, you'd think they could've at least mastered a basic chicken sandwich. Seriously -- what on earth happened?

Was very disappointed. I was so excited for the restaurant to open and try the sandwich. But it did not live up to my expectations. It was very expensive for fries with no seasoning and a sandwich that really didn't taste good at all. The service was ok, but could've been better. The best part of my experience was ambiance. Other than that nothing would bring me back.

Worth every penny! Great quality chicken and the sandwich was huge! The fries were incredible and a must try!

The sandwiches were terrible. My husband ordered a spicy chicken, I ordered a mild spicy. Both were inedible. Wishing our beloved Fulanos was still there. How could it had taken all these months to create an inedible sandwich? The chicken was rubbery.

We are so happy this spot is finally open! Amazing service, delicious food, retro vibe. We loved it. Can't wait to go again!

We came here on a Saturday at 4:30.. parking is tight but we quickly found a spot on Vulcan. Staff was quick to notice the little ones and offered to put chicken and fries in right away, which was nice as we always request food for the kids first. We started with the tuna tataki and the eyrie fries, both were great starters. My wife and I both ordered the chicken sandwich, she did the 720 and I did the 900. As someone who appreciates true spice, this was easily one of the best chicken sandwiches i've had. It was very spicy but balanced really well with the slaw, pickles and comeback sauce. The chicken was cooked and crisped to perfection. Overall, we had a great experience and cant wait to come back.

Wow and not in a good way. We waited for years for this restaurant to open. We were so looking forward to having a Michelin chef in our neighborhood. The menu and seating is limited. There is no bar seating, so no quick drink. My wife and I ordered the 180 chicken sandwiches with duck fries. The chicken sandwich was dry and way over spiced and mixed with spices that don't complement each other. The fries were not house made and lacked flavor. I won't even get into how bad the service was. Hopefully you and your team and turn this place around because just have Tony Hawk as a partner will not save you even in our surf town.

I was excited to try this place as I use to live in Nashville where fried chicken is amazing, but the chicken sandwhich I ordered was honestly inedible. The chicken did not seem cooked thoroughly and was stringy. Something was just really off about it and I couldn't eat more than one bite. My husband also ordered the same thing and I will say his tasted better and more cooked. If we are paying for a 18-23 dollar sandwhich it should also come with fries. The fries are an extra 10 dollars. I think this restaraunt would be better as a self service or pick up window.

I was surprised by how good the mushroom vegi dish was. It layered flavors from pickled carrots to mint and peanut sauce. The mushrooms were hearty and delicious. i Also appreciated the great service and epic ambiance. Great addition to Encinitas embracing our skate and foodie culture. Keeping Leucadia funky and cool!
